Today on my way home from class, I stopped off at the petrol station for some petrol. I paid on my card which wasn’t a lot, and then as I was getting into my car, I saw an old man walking past the building. He had a red and green stripy jumper which was frayed at the ends. He was also wearing some jeans that were dirty and had holes all over.
I sat there and became intrigued by him because I didn’t know what he was doing, so as I sat there and watched him, he continued doing what he set out to do.
He walked past the trash cans and first picked out a cup with some drink still in it (one of the cups that you get from burger king that has coke in it). He then walked over to the next trash can and pulled out the end of a half eaten sandwich. In my shock horror, he ate it and then went to sit on the wall to drink the drink he had found.
I felt sad, I wanted to give him my last $4 that I had but I was told when I was younger that you should never give people money, you should give them something they need or can use because that way, if they had an addiction, they would not be able to use the money for their addiction. So I went into the shop and bought a chicken sandwich from their deli counter and then walked out of the building.
The guy was still sat at the wall drinking his drink so I walked up to him and asked him if he would like this sandwich. He thanked me and said that he was hungry.
I should of felt good after that, doing something for someone else but all I could think of is where his next meal will come from or where in fact he will sleep tonight.

Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. Hold your head up high and be proud of who you are. If you've had a shitty day and you feel like people just don't want you to be happy, and when you find yourself struggling to make it through the day, just keep on believing and keep the faith. Also, from personal experience, don't push people away. When they say they want to help and that they are there for you, let them in. Believe me, I know how fucking scary that thought is, but don't shut others out.

I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I have made small mistakes and really big, fucking scary mistakes. Would I change those mistakes and blunders?
No. Wanna know why?
Because they make me - me. They help make up the person that I am, what I've learned the hard way. Hopefully I've learned from my mistakes and have become a better person for it. And, hopefully I don't repeat those same mistakes. Although, sometimes I repeat variations of certain ones, but I'm working on that. :)

Electric Blue
…today I saw a ulysses butterfly it was in our yard and settled to feed on our hibiscus. They really are fantastically beautiful things, the electric blue is amazing, however as they sit with their wings closed they are rather nondescript and dull. Sometimes people are like that, from the outside they seem unappealing but within there hides an amazing beauty for those lucky enough to see it. I hope you appreciate beauty in all things, and look for it perhaps where others miss it.

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
I read your post again and suddenly without warning memories of construction paper filled my head. I remembered all the lop-sided flowers my girls made when they were young. Bright blue, yellow and pink flowers that were cut out with blunt end scissors would fill the windows to decorate for Easter. An occasional bunny was attempted but those usually ended up looking like creatures from a horror movie. Flowers were so much easier. I can close my eyes and hear the paper being cut into petals. I can smell the Elmer’s glue squirted on in huge blobs to attach each misshapen petal to form the flowers. We had a huge arts and crafts box full of wonderful items just waiting for their imaginations to turn into something wonderful. In my mind I see my daughters, as they once were, small, blond little girls sitting on the floor surrounded by scraps of paper and other art supplies. They would create their masterpieces then proudly show each other. Oh and Lord the messes that would ensue if the glitter made an appearance. Now, the box is forgotten. I’m not really sure where it even is anymore. The few flowers so lovingly created that survived are faded and dusty and high on a shelf they sit. Time marches on, so many things get left behind.
Today was the first Easter I spent alone. I don’t think it really upset me until I remembered the construction paper flowers. Go back and read the conversations that happened on her and Mya's blogs. That is what got her fired but she forgave Mya for the firing. Mya didn't apologize for the things she said as an anon that night but I guess that is a different story.
Kapu should have known better that people here would take information to use against her. But she didn't learn that lesson that that's why OPJ sent out her personal info when Kapu went to her blog.

Who else can you start on today?
OPJ is a wonderful human being who is beautiful intelligent and full of fire!!! Her fire just goes out of control once in a while but that's because she is so full of passion. This blog means a lot to OPJ and so does SS. No one else on here fights for him the way she does. They really are special together and their friendship and connection is truly beautiful to witness and behold. Alot of what people say about OPJ and when they get mad at her for writing flirty sex suggestions about him and her, they are jealous that he accepts that and doesn't seem to mind.

Kapu acted like a bitch, telling OPJ to leave her alone and she ALSO called her a psycho after OPJ went to her blog and said something. That alone is enough for OPJ to do what she did.

I haven't had much to say the past few days, really for a while now. There's so much that goes on in here that just leaves me feeling uncomfortable, irritated, or just plain sad. I get so frustrated and most of the time I just figure it will get better if I sit back and don't say anything. If I throw my nonsense in, well, it just tends to make things worse and that's the last thing I want. I keep hearing this talk about how people should be able to say what they want to say here without being attacked. Let's be real, it hasn't been that way in a long, long time. When Kapunua lost her job (even though it has since turned out to be a great thing for her), that pretty much changed everything here. And then all the bullshit with what should and shouldn't be posted and at what time and day and night this...it has just gone above and beyond ridiculous. But the truth is, it's really hard and scary these days to try and be open and honest here, and that saddens me more than anything. What a great outlet and source of inspiration this place used to be...can it be that way again? I really don't know.

anon it would really depend on the age and the place they wanted to join. I think a child can be too young to understand how to protect themselves.
I think you have to be very careful and make sure they know not to give out personal information, unfortunately there are a lot of evil souls out there, which is a real shame.
If a parent is involved in what their kid does, (not in a spying way but an aware way) and the kid knows that they can go to them if they feel uncomfortable or unsure then it can be a really enjoyable thing.
It's just so fraught with peril for the unwary I can understand why a lot of parents don't like the idea. I'd have to decide when the time came.
Gotta relinquish computer now for the teenage student who has a paper due tomorrow.

But is is typical for some people to find fault and try to ridicule, it is good to know BC and Kapunua are both mature enough to be above all that and not let it affect them. Same goes for silly name calling, I'm sure you care far more than anyone else does. But whatever gives you your jollies, maybe one day someone will return the favour to you, hope it's just as hilarious then.

I am glad you're over the flu finally, how was all the moving , christmas etc? and how is you niece?
Moving was fine - I only hopped farther north in Michigan, so it was easy. Later I will move south, so that will be more difficult! My destination may be Florida, but I am not certain at this juncture.
My niece is doing well at present. She is better able to see to her treatments herself as more medical equipment is available to her and she doesn't need intravenous meds, thank God! She is such a teenager, now. :)
Christmas was good. I spent it with old folks who already had flu shots. We have a large gathering at my sister's, but I didn't want to infect the infants and toddlers, so I missed it. But I had good laughs and reminiscences with the older peeps so it was all good. :)
How was your Christmas? I know you don't have snow, but do you put up christmas lights and such?

we do decorate, lights tree etc, some people go all out of course, mostly in bigger towns and cities.
our christmas was just with hubby's parents in their home, which is on a farm out of town, so we had just indoor decorations there, we did pit up our tree here too, just took it down yesterday, if we are home I usually decorate more, lights on the house and stuff.
Must be very different to me to have snow, mine is kinda like you'll have if you get to florida!
We have lots of snow! Some of it melted, but it was pretty overwhelming for a while.
My car got stuck on it when it froze. (The wheels were dangling!) A British guy helped me get free. He was amazed at the snow too. :)
My friend in Florida said people were on the beach in Bermuda shorts and Santa hats, so that must be what its like in Australia? :) The only snow she saw was the fake stuff!
I am glad you were able to visit family for the holiday. Its nice to visit and reminisce. :)

I highly recommend the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. The staff is wonderful and it's so nice, warm and tidy. They didn't even seem to mind me knocking down some decorations near the elevator the night before last. Ooooops and sorry! (I had a bit too much vino that night) A BIG hello to Jann, Pekko, Wille and Sirpa from The Jade!!!!!!! I really, really LOVE them!
I am off to see some sea fortress now. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and I miss yä'll. I shall be home on Friday (although, I am not close to being ready to go home yet.) I shall tell you all about my Finnish adventures when I get back to (near) NOLA.

How has 2009 been treating you so far? Pretty damn good, I hope. I've had the best couple of weeks just hanging with my family. My nephew continuously rocks my world...literally and figuratively. It doesn't matter if he's singing "Run to the Hills" or if he's telling me that I'm "never going to live anywhere else besides Nana's". I told him that I can't live here forever and he just says, "Why not?" Gotta love the simple mind of a child.
So, I didn't bother with the resolutions this year. I don't know why except, maybe that my mind is too cluttered from the shit of last year and it makes it really hard to focus. I think I'll just make some guidelines for myself and follow LHM's lead....
Keep it simple and don't complicate shit. (If I do complicate it, don't bitch about how hard it is.)
Focus more and dwell less. (If I start to dwell, don't bitch about feeling stuck in the past.)
Live more and worry less. (This one is going to be really hard.)
Be spontaneous. (What does that even mean?)
Get outside and don't stay locked in the room. (Yeah, the room can mean many things and I'll leave it at that. But I can't really watch the sunset from inside, now can I?)
So those are the things that I am going to work on. Let's see how I do...

Welp! My little hibernation time is at an end it seems! I'm just popping in to tell you guys that I am getting ready for school tomorrow. I promised myself that I would call it "uni" because I like the way Fimmy and Bean call it that, but I can't seem to bring myself to. :D I just can't British it up. ;D
Anyway, I've got my backpack and all my huge-ass medical books and some pens, and shoot, I even have an assignment book that my wonderful friend Kim gave to me. It's black with red dragons. ^_^ (She also gave me a gift certificate to the school book store. O_o )
My first class is chemistry and I'm really freaking out.
What if I get lost? What if I go into the wrong room? What if I'm the only one in the class? What if everyone stares at me, or what if I make a bunch of mistakes? What if I forget to put my clothes on and show up naked?
All that stuff.
The only things I'm certain of right now is that I would not be sitting here telling you all this if it was not for this blog, and that this is the best way any of this could have turned out for me. :D
I'm doing my laundry and catching up on a few things so I might be around to unwind a bit later. Catch you guys in a while! :D
Hey there Mayonaise and gang. I hope that a nice holiday was had by all. I took time off and regrouped a bit, set the blog on auto-pilot and unplugged from the world. It was great. I can’t say I did anything amazing with my time other than spending it with friends and family. I did enjoy myself immensely, slept a lot, read a lot, and cooked a lot.
