The day after the day after tomorrow.

I arrived suddenly, and knew for certain that I was in the best place. It was warm and calm and I stood quietly in the moment, waiting for my turn. But, I quickly realized I was alone. Figuring my wait would be short; I let out a breath releasing the smoke from my lungs and viewed my new environment. All around me the black tar covered ground seemed endless, as if I stood in the parking lot for the world’s demise. Its emptiness ran undisturbed to the limits of my sight, and I thought, “When does it all get here?” Then, as I dropped my spent cigarette to the ground, intending to snub it out with the toe of my boot, something caught my eye.

At the hem of my faded, old black shirt was a white thread and without reflection I pulled it. As I pulled, it continued to reveal itself. So I continued to pull, believing that my shirt would soon unravel. But instead, my shirt remained intact while the string started to wind around itself, twining, until it became as thick as a hangman’s rope. With both my hands I began to work against gravity to slow it down, but it quickly stole my grip allowing the rope to spill out, coiling at my feet. When it stopped its fall, the weight of it almost pulled me over and I realized it must be connected to me. I pulled up my shirt and discovered it cleanly attached to the center of my chest.

Then I noticed smoke coming up from the center of the pile and realized the rope had coiled itself around my still lit cigarette. I frantically began to kick at the rope, fearing that it would fuse its way to my heart, igniting it. My success gave way to alarm as I heard from behind me the approaching sound of children’s laughter. When I turned, they were upon me. Several of them grabbed the rope and ran past me. As I watched the rope begin to take off I grabbed for it, but it slipped in my hand. When it disconnected from my chest I fell to the ground and grabbed for its end, but it trailed off behind them, leaving an inky trace.

I remained on my knees. A dull pain echoed in my chest as I watched the children huddle together holding hands to ears, whispering. Several of them looked over at me, but quickly returned to their attention to the group. I felt like an idiot. Oddly, they seemed unfazed by my presence and began to jump rope, their laughter in time with its swooshing rhythm. So, I asked them “Don’t you know you’re playing with the end of me?” My reply came in the most unexpected way, as the smallest of all the children approached me with the seeping end of the rope, smiled and said, “It’s your turn.”

p.s. I’m always fucking late.

FASC is opting for the single exclamation mark approach. showing a level of maturity that previously she did not possess.

Noooo!!!

Stop that!!

Everyone knows that there must always be partners in exclamation crime!!!

You shall not succumb to the sensible side!

616,
We heard the crystal crashing all the waaaaaaay down here! =)

What's new in your lives?

Heheh. Just spent the night lighting fireworks, and being a goofus with sparklers in the dark, and rain!
We do Guy Fawkes here, like in England.
NZ might be all 'Go away, Queenie, we're all grown up and don't need your help anymore. BUT, we'll keep your fire rituals and your public birthday holiday.
We are awfully naughty little colonials. =)

Sleep well, 616.

And I'm off too. But not as late as you! O_o

Night all. =)

Morning, Socky!

Your 'babbling' reminds me of a beautiful clear brook.

Somedays it's lovely to dip your toes into it, and other days, to just lie back and listen to it making it's way over rocks.

Hope your day goes well. =)

SS,

Just wanted to drop you a note and say that I hope you're fine as frog hair today!

I also wanted to let you know that you have also helped me to wake up, see, and pay attention. Because of you, I find myself stopping and at least trying to do that little extra thing. Before, I would just walk on by and I must admit that sometimes I struggle with that. I don't always do the right thing, but I'm trying and I'm aware of just where I fall short.

And it's not just in the height department.

Thanks, my friend.

I still have that funny story to tell you and I think now is a good time. There was once a group of silly girls standing in line waiting for a rock show in the wind and rain. A couple of people walked by asking for money, now I don't know if they really needed it or not, if they were really homeless or just scam artists, but here's the funny part...You made me question that. Nobody reached in their pockets to offer a penny, nickel, dime or quarter and I thought to myself, "If SS were here, he would probably tell us we could have done better than that." And I didn't forget...the next time I found myself in a big city at another rock show waiting to get my Jack White on in a hurry I'm sure to get in line and get in, we ran into another guy. This time he was trying to help people, tell them where to park without having to pay and such. He asked us for some money, Smoke and I both looked at each other and we knew that this time we had to. Now did he take that money and go to the Salvation Army like he said he was going to or did he run to the corner and buy a 40 oz? I dunno and it's not for me to know. I hope that he walked away feeling a little bit hopeful and not so invisible.

And that, my friend, is my funny story of how you have taught me and made me aware.

Thank you.

Always,
S

Awwww! Sdock! You make me want to just give Mayo and SS big ol'squeezy hugs! ^_^ Can you guys use a hug today? You know, I don't offer them very often. So take them while you can. Ha!

Mayo,

Were you excited last night? Were you? EEEEKKK! I don't think I have ever been so nervous about an election. Honestly, I never really cared before. That's sad to say, I know. There's no better time to start caring than now though, right? Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday, Mayo. *hugs*

SS!!!

Dude, that was a true story that Sdock told you. Remember how I told you that your words mean alot to so many here and we really do take them to heart? Well, there's your proof. We don't always get it right but we try. Thank you. *hugs*

You two have a great day!

Later guys!

I am still kinda flooooating. Last night I screen-capped all of the "Obama elected president" headlines.

PP and FASC, you two never fail to make me laugh in the morning. ^_^

Princess and Solly, that's too sweet. It's weird. I had that happen on line to a rock concert once, too; 30STM in fact. I gave some money to someone and then I gave away an extra ticket I had. The dude thanked me and said, "I think you're a nurse or something. You work in the medical field, right? You heal people?" I worked in an animal hospital at the time and I thought that was weird enough. Looking back from where I am now, it seems even stranger.

I always give folks money who ask for it, much to my Dad's consternation. (When I went to England with my cousin many years ago, it was real bad; in London people asked for money every few blocks. To me, giving away coins wasn't a big deal. In my mind I knew that "coins" meant "pounds" which were closer to dollars but it somehow didn't feel like it.)

Unlike what the anons will insist since my private information got released, I don't live in an actual slum myself, but I do know where they are. I'll bet you probably everyone around here has a place with people in need around them. Well, guess what? It doesn't make me a bad person. It just reminds me how good I have it and gives me perspective. So yes, I see people in need all the time. The opportunity for me to give them stuff is there a lot. I'm not seeing how that is such a shameful thing, but whatever.

AAAAANYway, that was quite the tangent.

I hope you are all having a great day. Today, all of a sudden, the leaves that have been red and gold are starting to fall en masse. It's very beautiful.

Everything looks different today! :D

Look that is the risk you take when you go to someone else's blog. Kapu KNEW that OPJ had a stat counter and yet she still went there and whined to her to 'leave me alone and stop talking to me wah wah'!!!

She knew that OPJ would get her information. Kapu was in the wrong here. She should own up.

DO YOU HEAR THAT SS? DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO J'S BLOG! SHE WILL NOT TREAT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH RESPECT. SHE WILL POST IT HERE AND GOD KNOWS WHERE ELSE (INO PROBABLY) ON THE INTERNET. THE SAME GOES FOR MAYO AND ANYONE HERE WHO GOES TO HER BLOG. SHE CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO KEEP THE INFORMATION TO HERSELF.

Anonymous said...

Hey TS! ^_^

Anon, once again: No, my Blackberry servie does not come from Staten Island. Additionally, it takes about ten minutes to load one page onto it; therefore I only have a few pages saved on it: This one, my own blog, the porch, Yahoo and LJ. In case you didn't notice this, either, I can't see the comment screen on my Crackberry and therefore it is nigh impossible for me to make any kind of intelligible comments on it.

Here is another thing that seems to have slipped your notice:

We made history last night. The world is about to seriously begin to change. Not over night, and not even within the next few months, but over the course of the next few years.

Surely--surely--that is more important than making sure my private information gets posted every few mages. You all know my server, my home town, all that junk. I'm sure by now everyone here is aware of it. Can we get over it? There is so much more going on in the world today than "OMG Jules lives in Riverhead."

Seriously.

Anonymous said...

"Posted over every few mages?"

Mages?

PAGES, obviously!

I need to lay off the Dragonlance novels for a while. O_O

You can say what you want but it won't make any difference.SS knows that he can trust J completely. He has visited her blog that time and she has never given out any of his information. You are just trying to cause a riff between them and it won't work.Kapu is at fault here.

Anonymous said...

I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT OPJ WOULD EVER HURT SS. HE SHOULD FEEL FREE TO GO TO HER PAGE. I HIGHLY DOUBT SHE WOULD DO THE SAME THING TO HIM.

Anonymous said...

OPJ has the information of everyone who goes to her blog and she has NEVER released anyone else's private information but Kapu's. Kapu knew that J had that power when she went there. I doubt that J would do it to anyone else.

OPJ is a psycho. So is Amy. Read the nonsense that Amy says on her blog about K's IP. She talks about all the "anon" comments on The Fix 1 & 2 (I only saw a couple and they weren't even rude or offensive) and how she matched the IP to K's IP from someone else's blog (?), probably J's. Then she says OPJ deleted her statcounter and only has the info from those two times K visited.

Um...what? Makes no sense to me.

Paranoid delusions much?

Anonymous said...

Well, never mind it. It's done and I certainly can't take my information off the web so I might as well just have fun with it and invite you all to Riverhead for an Obama party. ^_^

Just kidding.

This sucks: Michael Crichton died.

What doesn't suck is making history last night.

We can focus on the good things, right? Blogotics is such small beans in comparison to what is going on globally. Or even NOT compared to it. :)

The schizophrenic psycho…

She lays down on the fresh lawn
She can make everything magical
But she tied one on big time
And it makes me want to rewind

To back in the days when we were young
When everything was like a loaded gun
Ready to go off in any minute
And you know we're gonna win again

Yeah you know we're gonna win again
Yeah you know we're gonna win again

Maybe I'm the one

The paranoid flake-oh… yeah

She lays down on the sidewalk
Never very analytical
She is something simply beautiful
Reappear with youth and magical

Back in the days when we were young
When everything was like a loaded gun
Ready to go off in any minute
Yeah you know we're gonna win again

Maybe I'm the one

Staten island is Mayo.

Anonymous said...

Then it would be Mayo's information that J posted the first time around. Why would Mayo go to the OPS blog so much? I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

Maybe he goes to a lot of peoples blog that much. Maybe he just finds certain people interesting or maybe just likes them. Who knows.

Anonymous said...

No one should be posting any ones info, period. Its childish and just wrong.

Anonymous said...

mayo is is cali ^_~

Anonymous said...

No one should be posting anyone's information. It isn't justifiable, no matter what.

The mindset of the people involved amazes me. It seems they are for censorship and against personal privacy. What the hell? Oh, but they can always find some reason to justify the things that they do.

The comparisons to Animal Farm a while back were dead on.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Staten Island is a proxy.

Anonymous said...

Staten Island is a borough of NYC. It has a population of over half a million people. Obviously, logic was not applied when the OPs decided that was Kapunua.

Anonymous said...

Yes I find it amazing how people, find ways to justify things in their own minds.

Even Charles Manson can come up with good reasons for doing what he did....not even to mention my ex Spouse.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

HISTORY! MAKING!

Sorry, I had to. But yeah. Perspective?

No, Mayo shouldn't contact Blogger. Mayo really shouldn't have to do anything. This shouldn't be work.

It's blogging, people. Just blogging. That's all. This is someone's diary that we kind of use as a comment board. If people came into my blog and did thousands of comments and brought drama to it I don't think I'd even have the patience. I'm glad that Mayo does, but I don't think that I could.

I just don't think he's bound to "help" or anything because he hasn't done anything bad in the first place.

*sighs*

Well, I'm stuck in my stupid game. I've been playing this for months and it goes on forever. I need a new game to play.

Mayo and S(S)S, I sure do miss you two lots. I hope you guys are having such a wonderful Autumn and that you had fun voting yesterday and watching the tide change last night.

we are just pies....pastry or potato.

shepherd's pie is lamb with mash on top.

cottage pie is beef with mash on top.

but pie as in sweet pies is big in America yes??

we don't go for pie, like sweet pie, as in the movies. nope and no and nonny nonny m'Lord. just don't do that. not an evening thing like that film with Christian Slater...."Untamed heart" is it??? distant memory??

ah see everything here would be a pie
sweet or savoury
if it had a topping like mashed potato it'd be like a shepherds pie

if it was flat and quite open with no top it'd be a flan

Yup, regular pie is like sweet pies. Apple, peach, cherry, blueberry, pumpkin etc. Oh man, I love pie so much.

Mayo, SS, BlogBelieve,

Ask Space Cadet Lucy Bean about the powdered fruit that they have over in England.

Go ahead, ask her.

Smoke said...

Seriously. Ask her.

She says the pineapple is just divine.

>_<

Smoke said...

MAYO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wassup homie ho?

sdock10 said...

He's off searching for something that doesn't exist.

Right, Lucy?

Smoke said...

He's holding sachets.

Lucy said so.

Smoke said...

I am an enigma.

What's it feel like to be a ghost?

Smoke said...

Lucy says its all sparkly with 'FROOT' written in diamante.

Is that true, Mayo? If so, I am jealous.

sdock10 said...

Smoke,

Don't be jealous. We have Fun Dip!

Smoke said...

Troofax.

I bet SS and Mayo would drop the powdered fruit for Fun Dip.

*sticks tongue out at Lucy*

Kinda sounds like we're talking about whacked out names for crack. O_o

Yes, there's nothing more wonderful than to be well-loved, not only by parents ... but by all those you have close dealings with in life.

Things that give you pleasure -

It's very pleasing when someone you don't know well mentions an old poem or story that you haven't heard of, and then it comes up again in conversation with someone else. If you come across it later in something you're reading, there's the delightful moment when you cry, 'Oh, is that where it comes from!' and you enjoy recalling the person's mention of it.

Anonymous said...

Managing to get the better of someone who's full of themselves and overconfident. This is even more pleasing if it's a man, rather than one of your own circle of gentlewomen, It's fun to constantly be on your guard because you're expecting him to try to get even with you, and it's also fun to have been fooled into relaxing your guard over time, as he continues to act unconcerned and pretend nothing's happened.

Things it's infuriating and embarrassing to witness -

A guest has arrived and you're sitting talking when people inside begin a conversation of a confidential nature, and you have to sit there hearing it, powerless to stop them.

...If I happen to come by some lovely white paper for every day use and a good writing brush, or white decorated paper or Michinoku paper, I'm immensely cheered.... And when I unroll a section of fresh green Korai matting, thick and finely woven... I'm overcome with the feeling that life itself is just too wonderful, and I really couldn't bear to relinquish it just yet.

'The simplest trifles console you, don't they,' remarked Her Majesty with a smile....

The others who were present also teased me with such comments as, 'You've certainly come up with an incredibly easy magic formula for averting trouble!'

2 anons here

Anonymous said...

hi 9:14 and 9:20
:)

Amyranth said...

Hallo second anon!

My parents enjoy some country. We've been listening to it a lot at work lately.

I thought Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel" was "God Breeds Angels". (I hope so!)

And then I heard "The Dance" by Garth Brooks, and I thought it was "I could have missed the plane, but I'd have had to miss the bank."

Anonymous said...

you should put those up at misheard lyrics amy.

Amyranth said...

And third Anon!

I think I lost count already.

9:05, there's a website for it? I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

So I guess everyone is suffering an Obama hangover today huh?

Waiting, she finds her silk stockings
soaked with the dew drops
glistening on the marble palace steps.
Finally, she is moving
to let the crystal-woven curtain fall
when she casts one more glance
at the glamorous autumn moon.

Amyranth said...

9:05, I suppose whoever gets the job done, and done right is the best bet, huh?

But yes, I've noticed even the media is starting to call him Super Obama.

Anonymous said...

i'm waiting for one of those newscasters to slip and call him the messiah. it's what most of them seem to think.
;)

Na hoaloha, 'eo mai, 'eo mai!

*giggles*

Well, I think it's just the shine. It's always like that when a new government is elected. However, even in his speech last night, I think he truly believes in everything he said.

For the sake of the USA, I hope he does anyway.

Anonymous said...

Solly, the next one is for you.

I am determined to condense and retell,
The brilliance (my writings) emit
will illuminate a thousand springtimes.
Should an aspiring sage establish himself,
I will stop writing
when the "unicorn is caught."

After the new rain
in the secluded mountains,
It is getting cool,
with an autumn message
arriving at dusk.
The bright moon shines
through the pines,
The clear stream flows
over the rocks.
A stir in the bamboo groves --
the washing women come home
as the swaying lotus leaves usher in
fishing boats down the stream.
The spring splendor fading,
the mountains remain
as an appealing abode to me.

Anonymous said...

i think you're right. it's the shine. that'll wear off fast
once he takes office and people realize he is not a miracle worker or the messiah. just another politician who
we hope
will try to do the best he can.

has the second coming come to canada yet?

Autumn night, no frost
but soughing wind,
In my pillow, the sound of surf
Can't fall asleep.
Slip on a robe pace back and forth
empty steps in shadow,
One moon smack overhead
alone
by itself
round.

9:05, not to my knowledge. If it has, I missed it and this is merely the Apocalypse that I'm facing. :P

But, I have hot chocolate with marshmallows, so it's good by me!

he could have his work cut out for him. looks like japan could be planning an invasion of america. those monks and poets shouldn't put much of a fight. i think obama can handle them.

My First Thirty Years

In my first thirty years of life
I roamed hundreds and thousands of miles.
Walked by rivers through deep green grass
Entered cities of boiling red dust.
Tried drugs
but couldn't make immortal,
Read books
and and wrote poems on history
Today I'm back at Cold Mountain,
I'll sleep by the creek
and purify my ears.

9:42 that's where I want to live. So lovely. (But only if it stays that way.)

Hi Kapunua, Amyranth, Anons!

Can't stay, just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Anonymous said...

I have to block out thoughts of you so I don't lose my head
They crawl in like a cockroach leaving babies in my bed
Dropping little reels of tape to remind me that I'm alone
Playing movies in my head that make a porno feel like home
There's a burning in my pride, a nervous bleeding in my brain
An ounce of peace is all I want for you. Will you never call again?
And will you never say that you love me just to put it in my face?
And will you never try to reach me? It is I that wanted space

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me so you can finally see what's good for you

I'm sober now for 3 whole months it's one accomplishment that you helped me with
The one thing that always tore us apart is the one thing I won't touch again
In a sick way I want to thank you for holding my head up late at night
While I was busy waging wars on myself, you were trying to stop the fight
You never doubted my warped opinions on things like suicidal hate
You made me compliment myself when it was way too hard to take
So I'll drive so fucking far away that I never cross your mind
And do whatever it takes in your heart to leave me behind

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you

Hate me in ways
Yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see what's good for you

And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made
And like a baby boy I never was a man
Until I saw your blue eyes crying and I held your face in my hand
And then I fell down yelling "make it go away!"
Just make a smile come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered "How can you do this to me?"

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you

Hate me in ways
Yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see what's good for you

HC and marshmallows are definitely a needed elixir. The only thing better than Hot Chocolate with marshmallows, is when you add Grand Marnier to the mix.

Anonymous said...

I googled that one. Blue October, never heard of it. Cool though. :)

Amyranth said...

Hallo Anima! Glad to see you! I trust all is well?

Anonymous said...

sounds great to me. we need more good tv. who could we get to draw the anime?

Anonymous said...

I've got one here that I really like, called "Ugly Slave" that I'll post up next, before I sit down to watch my new X Files DVD and eat my awesome pomegranate.

This one is really cool because it was brushed on a wall somewhere on Boshan road between 1140-1207.

anima said...

Good to see you too Kapunua!

Amyranth, Grand Marnier, yummy. Good call.

Amyranth said...

9:05, you know I've never kept track of actual animators... I guess whoever is the least busy, that can take on the project?

Ugly Slave

When young
I didn't know taste of sorrow.
Loved to climb pagodas,
Loved to climb pagodas,
On high composing trendy tunes
striving for that taste of sorrow.

Exhausted now
by the taste of sorrow.
Want to tell you... but hesitate.
Want to tell you... but hesitate.
So I just say
the weather's crisp
what a lovely fall day!

Anonymous said...

Hope to chat you soon, Anima! :D

Me too, I'm out for now. I'm going to chill with my DVD for a bit. Later! ^_^

anima said...

You trust correctly Amyranth! All is well. :) You doing good?

Amyranth said...

Anima, I've gradually made my way through the bottle since about.. oh, mid-october.

Not a good thing, but it's gratifying at the time.

How have you been?

anima said...

Kapunua, Happy X-files watching! Hope to see you soon!

Amyranth said...

LOL, oops.

I'm doing good. Working on getting a second job to pay some bills, Christmas is coming too, you know?

How is your family and your father?

anima said...

"through the bottle".... not sure I understand.

I've been good. Busy. Dad's good. Obama won. What more could I ask for?!

anima said...

Yikes! A second job?! I've done that, it's not fun. I wish you all the best. Is it in retail or in another area?

anima said...

Top spot for Mayo!

Anonymous said...

was kapu stung by something? i heard an ouch. i hope it didn't hurt her too much.

Amyranth said...

Probably retail, most likely just as a cashier. I'm not looking for a part-time career, just backup funds for awhile.

And making my way through the bottle = drinking it slowly, but faster than I should be. :/

Anonymous said...

hi anima.

Amyranth said...

Yay for the tag team of Anima-Mayo!

*confetti*

Anonymous said...

LOL, no, the "ouch" was in response to an anon saying "ouch" which I took to mean re: the painting of a dude warming his junk over a fire. O_O

Thanks, Anima! I will do so. ^_^BE ON AIM SOON! We all miss you and we need to catch up. :)

anima said...

Back up funds, I totally understand. Have you thought about waiting tables or hostessing? Good money working at a restaurant/bar.

Hi 9:05. How are you?

Amyranth said...

Anima, I keep hearing that. The problem is, with the hours I usually work, I would probably get a lot less sleep than I do now.

I do mostly early AM shifts, until about 3:30 my time. I figure I can work from 4:30 to 9-9:30 as a cashier, and still get home in time to get at least 6 or 7 hours of sleep before work the next day.

I can't think of many restaurants that would accomodate that.

9:05, you know I've never kept track of actual animators... I guess whoever is the least busy, that can take on the project?

maybe anima wants the job. her name almost matches the job description.

9:05, I shall consider. :) Nite to you too.

Amyranth said...

You're welcome Anima!

Be right back, I'm going to try hot chocolate with amaretto!

Anonymous said...
