The day after the day after tomorrow.

I arrived suddenly, and knew for certain that I was in the best place. It was warm and calm and I stood quietly in the moment, waiting for my turn. But, I quickly realized I was alone. Figuring my wait would be short; I let out a breath releasing the smoke from my lungs and viewed my new environment. All around me the black tar covered ground seemed endless, as if I stood in the parking lot for the world’s demise. Its emptiness ran undisturbed to the limits of my sight, and I thought, “When does it all get here?” Then, as I dropped my spent cigarette to the ground, intending to snub it out with the toe of my boot, something caught my eye.

At the hem of my faded, old black shirt was a white thread and without reflection I pulled it. As I pulled, it continued to reveal itself. So I continued to pull, believing that my shirt would soon unravel. But instead, my shirt remained intact while the string started to wind around itself, twining, until it became as thick as a hangman’s rope. With both my hands I began to work against gravity to slow it down, but it quickly stole my grip allowing the rope to spill out, coiling at my feet. When it stopped its fall, the weight of it almost pulled me over and I realized it must be connected to me. I pulled up my shirt and discovered it cleanly attached to the center of my chest.

Then I noticed smoke coming up from the center of the pile and realized the rope had coiled itself around my still lit cigarette. I frantically began to kick at the rope, fearing that it would fuse its way to my heart, igniting it. My success gave way to alarm as I heard from behind me the approaching sound of children’s laughter. When I turned, they were upon me. Several of them grabbed the rope and ran past me. As I watched the rope begin to take off I grabbed for it, but it slipped in my hand. When it disconnected from my chest I fell to the ground and grabbed for its end, but it trailed off behind them, leaving an inky trace.

I remained on my knees. A dull pain echoed in my chest as I watched the children huddle together holding hands to ears, whispering. Several of them looked over at me, but quickly returned to their attention to the group. I felt like an idiot. Oddly, they seemed unfazed by my presence and began to jump rope, their laughter in time with its swooshing rhythm. So, I asked them “Don’t you know you’re playing with the end of me?” My reply came in the most unexpected way, as the smallest of all the children approached me with the seeping end of the rope, smiled and said, “It’s your turn.”

p.s. I’m always fucking late.

I would hope whoever wins does what is best for the country and world as a whole.
And that how they appear and what they promise during their campaigning remains the same. It's only when you see how they perform that you can really say if they were a success. This is only the beginning

ergoproxy said...

FOR MYA

" To dry caladiums, lift the bulb with its leaves and put it in a protected place to allow the bulb to dry out. You can trim the leaves off, leaving a couple of inches of stem. As October progresses, our weather will get drier. The soil around the bulb will dry out and be easily brushed off. Be careful not to bruise or cut the bulb. You can store the bulb in vermiculite or sand, checking it to make sure it stays firm and no rot begins. For caladiums, the temperature to store should be 70 to 75 degrees."

and

"To store your bulbs from year to year we suggest digging them after your first cool spell. Allow them to cure for 7 to 10 days before storing. Store them in something ventilated such as old pantyhose or an onion sack. Keep them ABOVE 65 F until time for planting again."

But, this is just the beginning. The problems aren't fixed. We don't yet have our constitution back. At this time we're still under the yoke of theocracy and Bush will still be in office until January. Even when he's out, there's lots of work to do. I'm sure that most of us--okay, me--still don't even understand half the problems that need to be worked on.

So it's the best new beginning I could have hoped for, but that's just what it is: A beginning.

I was halfway tempted to say "Yes, We Did," but we really haven't yet. It's just the first step.

A hell of a good step, though!

it was the same with our new PM, he won over the incumbent as the nation really wanted a change, he so far seems to be doing well, and has a lot of support and he also seems really open and willing to listen to people. What? Did somebody say free health insurance? I pay $600 a month.

Obama will fix that by the end of January I'm sure. He'll have a alternative energy source by February. All cars, farm equipment and engines of any kind will magically run off that alt energy by March.

Minimum wage will be increased to $20 an hour in April.

College tuition will be free for all working Americans by May.

Senior citizens won't have to choose between eating or taking the meds. Food and meds will be free for senior citizens June.

All American troops in the middle east will come home by July. Iraq and Afganistan will magically not fall under the control of terrorists and extremist.

In August the leaders of Isreal, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran will all embrace each other and toss their differences out the window
due to the love of Obama.

Come September
All nuclear weapons will be tossed into the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. No damage will come to those bodies of water because he is Obama and will not allow damage to be done.

A magic cure all pill will be discovered by Obama in October. Disease will no longer cause death.
Death and Halloween will become extinct.

Obama will part the Red Sea in November. Just in time for Thanksgiving. Which will then be outlawed because it could possibly offend some native Americans.

In December we will have peace throughout the world and world hunger will be ended. All thanks to Obama. Everything will be free from then on and nobody will ever have to work for anything. It will be Utopia.

And we will all live happily ever after. Forever. For free.

Now that's a bill of goods fairy tale.

I am off for the night. I got yoga classes to check out tomorrow. Goodnight TJ, anon, sweet dreams.

Miranth: I sent you a email response.

Sugarplum: Aw I miss you too. I’ve been having so many computer problems lately, and I can’t post comments from my phone so that’s why I haven’t been seen much around these parts. And of course, I’ve been dealing with my illness and my neck it seems I may have a herniated disk. Figures) I did, however, sent a couple of messages over at your myspace about a week ago and I tried with the emails but you know how stupid Yahoo is :p

I have sent you an email but this time through my alternative email so you should be able to get it. I hope you and your mom and fur babies are well

Didn't you know 2:01 & 2:15, we've all been touched by the healing powers of Obama. it's blissss!

I wonder how pissed off Hilary Clinton is right now. I bet steam is coming from her ears. You just know she and Bill voted for McCain. She had her eyes on 2012. It can't be a good morning in the Clinton house.

His healing touch must of missed me 2:54. I don't feel any different than I did yesterday. Maybe it doesn't take hold until he gets sworn in as president. Takes that oath. I bet that's it. That's why my health insurance will be free in January. I won't need it.
None of us will. We'll all be healed and blissful.

That's right 2:47, come January you will be feel the change. You will want to pick flowers to place in your hair (if you can find them ;) and develop a distinct urge to hold the hands of a stranger. After all the responsibility of health insurance has been taken away...it is the age...the age of Obamaius.

mayo,

i'm not saying anything about my writing tonight, just in case.

actually, i was thinking a little earlier about how slow i am to make friends. (what? did you think my mind only rambled when i'm writing to you? *grin*)

anyway, it's not that i don't instantly take a liking to people, or am too shy to talk. i can talk to people easily, i'm the one who can get chatty at the bus stop, you see. and not old-lady-talk-your-ear-off chatty, but friendly stranger conversations, about commonplace things.

that was one of the (many) things i forgot all those years now done, i forgot that i enjoy meeting people, that i like making the check-out clerk laugh, and that i'm good at being personable with strangers.

i actually make friends easily.

i know, how can that be? how can i be slow at it and effortless at it? i think it's because even while i am enjoying being with new people and getting acquainted, there's a part of me that holds back. i know i'm good at being friendly, but i think there's a part of me that truly believes i'm not someone people really want to be friends with, beyond the nice superficial way.

so i keep part of me in reserve, i watch my boundaries very closely so that i don't presume on anyone, so that i don't overstep myself. i usually like people immediately. if i allowed myself to be as free as my instinctual responses, i would probably overwhelm the new friend. i would probably chase them away, because i tend to glomp my friends. i can be clingy. better to take it slow, you see?

i probably miss out on some people becoming friends because i don't always offer my full self at first shot, and that makes me sad to realize it. that's changing, though, and this place is part of my training ground (the road trip helped a lot).

well, so there you go. more pure nonsensical rambling.

hope you had a good day, mayo. be well.

And we thought the age of aquarius would be special. Pffft.
On your knees non believers. All hail Obama. Savior of the universe.
O look. The sky rains flowers now. I'll have no trouble finding one in January.
;)

Nite Anima. Nite anons.

A truely remarkable result that many people around the world are celebrating with you.

It was a good fight. His concession speech was warm and gracious.

Interesting and exciting times lay ahead for all.

You don't mind if I open your windows and air your place a bit, do you? It's smelling a little unused these days.

Later all! =)

Good morning/afternoon/night Mayo, SS, Anima nsi, Ergo, Sweetcheeks; various anons, watchers and lurkers; all those celebrating the victories of the candidates they supported and those drowning their sorrows (while still hoping for a better tomorrow) in the land o'blogbelieve!

How are you all on this post election day, day? Happy, well and not in shock. I am. In shock that is!

I can't believe we actually know, on the morning following the election, who the president elect is. I miss those hanging chad days! That was so much to watch! :P

Any of you live in New York near the Clintons? Do you hear those crashing sounds? That's all that fine china and crystal, Hillary purchased with our tax dollars, crashing into the walls and shattering on the floor. Poor Bill (not). He's probably getting that "I stayed with you for 9 years for nothing. *crash* You were supposed to get me to the white house *crash again*" speech.

I think being a fly on the wall for that would be much more entertaining than all the hanging chads in the world! But, that's just me.

I also think both John McCain and Barrack Obama made great speeches last night.

For the McCain supporters, I am truly sorry. That man is fighter and a survivor. A true American Hero! No one can take that away from him. And, no one can take the respect and admiration you feel for him away from you! Well done!

For the Obama supporters, Congratulations! The naysayers were proven wrong. He fought hard, he spent much and he was successful! And, he delivers a speech beautifully. No one can take that away from him. Ditto for the respect and admiration. Well done!

A personal note from me: Thank goodness it's all over!!!! No more automated pollster calls for at least 2 years! YAY!

Today's submission for pondering consideration:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed. He who molds public sentiment goes deeper than he who enacts statutes or decisions possible or impossible to execute."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Applause for my fellow Americans who went out and voted yesterday! I did too!
*big smile*

Have a great day, everyone!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Mayo,

Good Morning, how are you? I hope you are well and happy and everything in your world is as it should be, as it needs to be. And if it isn't, then I hope you can see clearly what can be done to fix the fuck out of it.

Ahh, which brings me to seeing. It's autumn, Mayo. Duh, you say, well, no, we say fall, but anyway. What I am getting at is this, the trees are changing colors...reds, oranges, yellows, dark browns, and the leaves are falling to the ground. I pulled up yesterday from work and just stared at the yard. I laughed at myself because I hadn't bothered to notice the changes in the landscape, the scenery.

You see, that's what this place has done for me. It has opened my eyes to so many things that I never bothered to pay attention to before...people, places, words, sunsets, leaves, smiles etc. Now, you know as well as I do that when you finally open your eyes and see, it's not all pretty. Yesterday was a perfect example of that...I was made painfully aware of how far we have not come. You wouldn't believe some of the things that I heard and saw around me, Mayo. People that I see and talk with every single day. It's a shame that such ignorance, hatred, and ugliness still exists in the world today, but I guess, when you see all that shit, you can get in your head a pretty clear picture of who you don't want to be, where you don't want to be, and what you have to do to change it all.

Oh good grief, this has turned into a babbling incoherent mess, but I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

I feel like I've been in a coma and I'm just beginning to wake up.

Another year has almost passed me by....

It's about fucking time.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. What do you see?
