There's a word for that.

It is everything built to borrow
made of a moment or two of sorrow
with a roof pitched of tar and nicotine
and everything good that is in between
that has taken three hundred days
sometimes filtered through a painted haze
while holding breath without suffocation
there is love and hate, anguish and elation

God damn it, anon! We were pulling for Mayo to get first comment.

>_<

Ah well.

And, you're wrong. Most everyone calls Solly Solly. It was from when some damn anon called her a blowup doll and then Princess said that she was DollySock and then I said that if we wanted to keep the original SDock10 initials it should be DollySock and then it just stuck and so well there you go.

Or let us know if anyone was close?

We did!!! And he wasn't!

It makes me have a sad.

Yes, and you ruined it

Hay, Mayo!

Hay, everyone!

*snots all over you guys*

If by poem you mean that little riddle from a few weeks back: I think someone already figured it out.

The grid: I am not giving up the grid, not just yet.

The word: there is at least one for everything and that is the point.

Smoke said...

Hey Mustard!!! Iz you sick?

Hey Splash! I'm sorry you're sick. Drink green tea.

Smoke said...

Oh, you!!!!

>_<

You know I'm slow.

Damn it.

Anonymous said...

Oh man, the grid!

It was so funny. We were manipulating that thing in every direction known to man. Blowing it up, shrinking it. It got dirty.

Bwuahaha.

I still think the grid pic is of a hand, or a finger.

Haven't come up with anything else.

Wow, that is way too specific an answer for me. Could you be a little more vague? I don't think I can handle it.

Who figured it out? Tell us, or there will be a mob. With pitchforks and torches.

Anonymous said...

Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong

Tonight
I throw myself into
And out of the red,
out of her head she sang

Come down
And waste away with me
Down with me

Slow how
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when

Anonymous said...

Mayo, Solly is going to scream in joy when she reads that. I suspect it's her favorite!

Yep, Carrie, got my hairs did :) Just got the burgundy colour refreshed.

My hairdresser's son's girlfriend's kitten wandered into the salon (my hairdresser works from her home) and started playing with a colour foil on the ground & got purple dye on her two front paws!

The riddle brings this to mind:

A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July--
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear--
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die.
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream--
Lingering in the golden gleam--
Life, what is it but a dream?
THE END.

-Lewis Carroll

I believe it was Kapunua who answered it correctly.

I think a few others got it, as well.

Fitting reading material, don't you agree?

Carrie said...

My stray cat and two of her kittens came by this morning. There is a little black and white kinda pinto looking one that I want to squeezle so much, he is soooo cute.

Anonymous said...

Favorite word? Holy crap, how'my supposed to answer that?

Okay, so, I can try. There are a lot of Italian and Spanish words used for dynamics in music, right? Right, so, my favorite two were always retardando and poca a poca.

I mean, 'cause not only are they fun to say, but wow. Like, who would have thought those two up?

But, if we're talking foul language, "motherfucker" is da bomb.

Carrie said...

Mayo, yes, especially with this place in mind, cuz it can be a right mind fuck sometimes.

Smoke said...

Niiiice, Mayo.

Anonymous said...

Oh gosh, I did quote that. How neat!

Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.

That is one of my favorite rhymes in existence. It kind of gives me a shiver. I think that story is really spooky and very layered.

Thanks for the answer, Mayo!

resurrected wreck said...

So the answer was Alice Through The Looking Glass?

Anonymous said...

resurrected wreck said...

Hi, Lewis! :)

I almost missed you there!

Anonymous said...

Well, it certainly is a change to read some favorable comments from other anons re Kapunua!

Anonymous said...

Oh my God, it just connected.

I think part of these lyrics are a play on Alice In Wonderland.

I try to picture a girl
Through a looking glass
See her as a carbon atom
See her eyes and stare back at them
See that girl
As her own new world
Though a home is on the surface, she is still a universe

...

Just take it easy
And celebrate the malleable reality
Nothing is ever as it seems
This life is but a dream
.

I was trying to think, and then it clicked!

ergoproxy said...

HI Lewis!

Lewis Carroll was a very talented man

resurrected wreck said...

I did notice that, Lewis, a long time ago when i first read that poem. It inspired me to do a poem of the same ilk for a young man I was enamoured with at the time.

Carrie said...

Yeah, I got a mama cat and she has four kittens. I usually only see her with two of them though. The other ones just flit by every once in awhile, or at least they used to. I totally agree. Maybe that's what the writer felt, though, as he was writing it. Maybe he felt that although we do shape our own reality, we have the ability to change them, too. To make them fluid. I don't know. I'd love to question him though!

MUSE FTW! *high fives Ergo* I'm really, really looking foward to the new record! Can't wait!

Lewis, it's a song called "Live High." I didn't post it in its entirety, but the parts that were applicable, or at least the parts I thought were applicable.

Anonymous said...

Gosh, I'm not sure I could explain. The looking glass milk was from Through The Looking Glass and Alice tells Kitty that she already has three faults against her. The only thing I did was quote my favorite lines from that poem. And the only reason I could do that was because that is one of my favorite stories, and the ending poem always stuck with me and gave me that little shiver. (Aside from the "Oh, dude, this guy is way too into little girls" shiver.)

It's not only about childhood, but about looking back to childhood from the other side of it.

What is it but a dream?

So as Mayo has just said that the poem there "is fitting reading material" it calls to mind this blog, and himself.

Back then, we bandied about different theories re: "three faults" (lol, so clevah,) and "looking glass milk" etc.

But it rather seems to call this blog to mind.

Yeah?

Hello Mayo, SS, Carrie, Amy, Ergo, Elena, Sdock...everyone!!!! Sorry, that was me with the sweet smell of death. I do believe I have enhaled to many gas fumes and too much carbon monoxide this week!

Other than that, I am A-OKAY ~ considering the circumstances. We are now up to a whole 22 percent with power/electricity. Well, if IKE decides to come here next week; at least we won't have to worry about losing power! Can't lose what you don't have, right?

I went out and got a 4 day supply of gas today. HOORAY for me! I also did some volunteer work at one of our local distrubution sites. Still no tarps!!!! Oh well, we shall just hope it does not rain anytime soon.

Ohhh....and, a couple of the bars around here have opened!!!!! Yep, thems have generators too! I think I'll head out to one of those bars (before I put my poor, hardworking generator at greater risk). I think deserve some fun tonight!

Great to see Mayo doing some mingling in his own home. Thanks Mayo! I hope you have some fun tonight too. I hope you all do!

Has anyone heard from Mya? I hope she's doing okay and not having too much trouble with Hannah!
*waves to Mya and sends her a big stay safe hug*

Thanks, again, to everyone who sent the good vibrations and all the other good things Louisiana's way!

I hope you are alright anon. But if you are just making crass jokes -you're an ass. Sorry to be a shit at you, but I don't think death is funny or sweet in anyway -even if there is a cape, a big button and a defeated bad guy in the mix. He has such a fascinating ability to do that.

I get, not really a kick, but more like a satisfaction? out of watching Chris play. He's just so solid in his abilities. I see a great deal of difference in bassists who thump and pluck than those who pick. I mean, in their playing, how they "feel" the music, I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but the dude ownz.

Hey, Sdock! I have no idea. I don't feel sick sick, you know? I just have a lot of snot in my face. :)

mustard I agree, he makes such a contribution to their sound,it's a huge part of all their music, along with Dom. (start of Hysteria is brilliant)
I think the bass and beat being so solid gives Matt that ability to experiment with such innovative lead work. If they weren't so brilliant in their own right it wouldn't sound so amazing.
And Chris has such a lovely voice too, I'd really like to hear him sing alone, and again he gives Matt that vocal freedom. They are a really perfect trio
(and kudos to the synth operators too, can you imagine Matt with a new song? "Ok now in this bit I'll go falsetto and play this, meanwhile Chris will hold this bass line, Dom will be playing this complimentary beat and I'd like you to pull in these sounds........no honestly, it'll sound great, trust me")

Hi BC!

Anonymous said...

Hiya solly, mustard, ergo, amy.

Lewis, I know you're gone, but I can't post a comment on your page :(

Anonymous said...

I absolutely agree, Ergo. Has an excellent voice. It's weird, and I don't know exactly the reason why. But, there are people who absolutely cannot harmonize well with another person. Their singing voices just won't fit, you know? But, those two are just made to sing together. They mesh really well.

Anonymous said...

Are we talking Muse?

Can I throw out a random observation about Hysteria? Right, of course I can.

You know what my favorite part is? The second lead guitar during the solo. There is the lead lead, the first guitar, and then underneath that, higher and just a step or two behind, the second guitar.

Well, it goes right through me and lights up all my music places like a beacon.

Anonymous said...

*goes to listen*

Yay, fun!

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah! I hear it.

Anonymous said...

I would also like to mention that I think it's neat that Mikey is doing a comic. I like it when Way The Younger does stuff of his own.

Also, Alicia seems sweet.

/random

Anonymous said...

Splash, INORITE? To me, that is the best part of the song. Like, it makes me make faces the way guitarists do when they play.

And I air guitar that second, trailing, higher pitched lead.

ergoproxy said...

I love the harmonised part in Butterflies and Hurricanes, I always sing along with that, rather than with Matt

Anonymous said...

Still, my favorite song from that record has to be "Blackout," musically, sonically, yeah. It blows my mind.

Anonymous said...

I love the subtle harmonies in City Of Delusion. sometimes I can't hear it in my car, but on my iPod or computer it's so clear.

ergoproxy said...

well it's not strictly harmony to Matt in the verse part, but you know the bit I mean

Anonymous said...

*bumfuzzled*

Not the album, I mean the song. Just in general.

Anonymous said...

Oh man, so when you're singing along to Stockholm Syndrome and you get to the part with "let your hatred grow" / "let your anger rise", which part do you sing? The high part or the Lennon-esque harmony?

ergoproxy said...

the harmony pretty much always, and in the chorus too

Anonymous said...

I switch back and forth depending on my mood. ^_^

I was just listening to City Of Delusion because I like the lower harmony in that, in the chorus. It's so subtle.

Come into my life

Regress into a dream
We will hide
Build a new reality

Draw another picture

Of the life you could have had
Follow your instincts
And choose the other path

You should never be afraid
You're protected
from trouble and pain

Why
why
is this a crisis
in your eyes

again

Taught to be
How did it come to be
Tied to a railroad
You'll have to set us free
Watch our souls fade away
Let our bodies crumble away

Don't be afraid

I
will take
the blow
for you

And I've had recurring nightmares
That I was loved for who I am

And missed the opportunity

To be a better man

I love the bass line in "Stockholm Syndrome."

I, personally, think the best harmonies are in "Knights Of Cydonia." It's really layered all the way through, but once you hit the "No one's going to take me alive/The time has come to make things right...," then all the way through it, it takes me back to the 60s when Phil Spector was doing all of this vocal layering for his groups just using their voice.

I've tried searching around the interwebz to see how many tracks were used on that song, but I can't find any info.

"Starlight" is my song to Jo-chan. I have such a great memory. They played it before the TBS show that Jo-chan, Mummy K and I went to see. Well,Matt Rubano was casually hanging around and that song came on. I kinda didn't see him at first and I started singing along with great industry, and I was dancing with Jo-chan.

It wasn't really till after the concert that I associated it, and subsequently the lyrics, with her.

It's gotta be OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND.

That's a great one. I love the eclectic feel they gave it, and the lyrics are haunting. You don't get that very often any more, these lines that haunt your thoughts. Very cool.

I loooove Knights of Cydonia, too.

Just, I don't know why, I just do.

LOL, Jules!

No, seriously. If anyone happens to come across any information about that, if you don't mind, post it here so I can quench this neverending thirst for wanting to know. :)

I wouldn't even begin to know where to look, Splash.

But I can rarely let an opportunity to say that go by. ;D

When watching HAARP and they kicked into the guitar riff after the bridge I started crying.

Thanks Ergo, I refuse to call the "thing" a JOB, lest it taint my otherwise positive feelings about it with the usual connotations that come with that three letter abomination.

Since I plan on making money with this, I guess I should just start being honest with myself call it such.

What's interesting is that while driving to the grocery store yesterday, I happened to put on Muse (BH&R) by accident, but decided to keep it on since I hadn't listened to them since I went to a concert (un-Muse in nature) in Pennsylvania last year.

Okay, I'm really going now...

[Agony]
I am pain
I am the end, I am your wraith
Nothing remains
I'm the loss of hope and faith

Oh man! I thought I was the only one to do that, Ergo!

I'm so guilty. And highly uncoordinated, so it took me months to get the beat into my hands. I could hear the beat, completely understand it, but to make it myself? It took me forever!

HEY, GS! What riff are you talking about?

Mustard - Knights of Cydonia

Cheers me dears.

mustard I get so addicted to the clapping I do it on one leg while I drive, it's really hard to clap it and sing at the same time though, and after that at the concert my arms were sooooo sore, I think all the blood had run down from my fingers

ergoproxy said...

musewiki is fascinating, read about each if the songs, there is quite a lot of KoC, but so many of their songs have stories behind them , some serious and some just funny/odd

ergoproxy said...

chech out the alleged backmasking in Stockholm Syndrome, scroll down and you'll see it

YAY!!!

*happy dance*

ok go back and look at the link I put bottom of last page, Muse backmasking, Stockholm Syndrome.

Congrats, Ergo!

I listened to that backmasking thing. It doesn't sound like true backmasking, but rather a really neat coincidence.
