Your obituary won't mention you have a huge house and a plasma t.v.

My Grandma used to say "You only get so many words when you're born and once you've used them up...that's it."

She said the same thing about steps too.

"Once they're gone you don't get anymore."

Words and steps, I think she meant that they are the measure of a life.

She was a cool lady.

p.s. and in those last few moments they won't occur to you either.

TJ, yep. I have the cassette somewhere, not sure where. I think my favorite song off the soundtrack was my only love. Sappy, but I like it :)

I'm good Andrea, just checking my mail thanks

Although I find, translated over, some Japanese songs don't make a whole lot of sense in English.

Miles Davis is awesome, and I LOVE Sweet Caroline! I hate that Snow Patrol song though. I feel like I should like it because I know a lot of people who really love it, but I just can't get into it.

Amyranth said...

I really liked the Snow Patrol song, until they played it every few hours or so at work. Sirius Satellite wasn't very good at mixing for awhile there.

Teej, I like learning the japanese lyrics and singing along. I really have no frigging clue what I'm saying though!

I used to like "Hey There Delilah" until I heard it on repeat, also at work :P

well since a few of us here like chasing cars here are the lyrics, enjoy. the words are good in this song. i dont know how to do links yet, one day. i dont even know how to italic things here yet

Goodnight blog believers. have an even better tomorrow.

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Yeah, Amy, maybe my problem with Snow Patrol is just that I've heard it way, way too much. For a while, it seemed like it was on EVERY time I turned on the radio.

Come On Eileen rules!

that's the cool thing, though, andrea -- music is so individualistic, we all like what we like. :)

now i've got that snow patrol song in my head and it's giving me a smile, so that's good. wish i had brought my cd with me though.

amyranth, i'm the same -- memorize the theme song and then sing it loud! eventually i'll learn the meaning of what i'm blissfully singing. lol

Apparently someone "found" Isaac Hayes in his home, after he'd passed. When I heard about it, there was no idea what'd happened to him. My guess would be a heart attack, but I don't know.

Bernie Mac was so cool. Such a funny man. I used to watch his sitcom sometimes.

Some luck Ergo. I had a pre-employment exam with one company. I'd be working extensively with computers, so they were testing to see what capability I have. They gave us an hour and a half for the test, and I finished in 50 minutes. So I either did really good, or really bad.

However, if I didn't pass the test, I don't get a call for an interview, which in retrospect, isn't horrible. I'd rather know right away if it isn't going to work out rather than get trapped in the job because the money is good but the job isn't, you know?

I'm trying really hard not to lose it, and so far, I think it's working. But every time my brain heads in that direction, I get a tight feeling in my stomach and have to make myself stop crying.

Well, anyway, I can't keep laying all this out on you. You've got your own problems to deal with, you don't need a crazy weepy woman to add to it. Thank you, though, for letting me yammer this long.

I don't really HAVE a field, so I don't think I can claim EI. But, like I said to Mister today, if the job at the company doesn't work out, then I'll find a job, even if I have to do fast food for awhile.

Mayonaise,

So we were discussing guilty pleasures, and I decided I'd save my favorite guilty pleasure for last.

Yes, it's still Japanese. And yes, it's in video form. I'll warn you, just in case you're not adapted to the language, that it can be a little annoying to some people's ears. There's some music as well, so if you think you're not going to like it, keep the speakers off.

I went for the translated videos as much as possible as well, for yourself or anyone else who would watch them.

Pitagora Suiichi!

Algorithm Koshin! With Ninja!

Algorithm Taiso! With Bus Guide!

Ju-Pon Anime!

Rube Goldbeg Devices, used to open and close each show.

And yes, it is a kid's show from Japan. We had a free month's preview of the channel here, and I happened on it one morning. It's kind of like a Sesame Street format, but it's all based on Math and Science and such.

And yes, I DO find it very entertaining.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these. I find it very interesting to see how other people do things on their sides of the world.

Have a good night Mayonaise.

Mayo

No long ramble from me tonight. I’m tired. You know all the baking really wore me out. Who would have thought I’d have to bake so many cookies to lure people to the Dark Side? Oh and I did clean up the kitchen so no worries. You might want to check the timer on your oven though. A few batches burned and it wasn’t my fault.

So since I wandered for so long through the Net looking and looking I need to get my work done. You know it’s weird. I started off with a clear thought in my head and pretty soon I just kept going from page to page until I was quite lost. Should have taken some of those cookies with me and I could have left a crumb trail.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure I’ll find what I’m looking for eventually. It feels like I’m so close at times but then it slips away.

Night Mayo

Elena (oh your plate of cookies is on the table. Like I really need to lure you into the Dark, Mister.)

mayo,

i wandered off, wandered outside, followed the lure of the perseids.

and oh, it is a beautiful night out there. the moon has set, there is nothing but the dark shadowed earth and the deep layered star-filled sky overhead. not a cloud, cool with a breeze straight out of early spring, and even the tree-frogs decided to harmonize tonight.

i've not been outside for a little while, and not on such a clear night. we say clear to mean no clouds, but it suggests an emptiness, doesn't it? and the night sky is crowded, every shade of night and stars bright and stars so faint they are only a smudge out of the corner of your eye, and across it all, like a silvered scarf, the milky way.

and tonight, the streaks of the meteors, gone almost before you can see them, and yet, when you do, they move so slowly, marking out a bright line.

have you ever gone out to see the meteor showers, mayo? were you a stargazer as a kid? i went out and lay down in the front yard, and forgot everything but the stars overhead.

watching meteors is like eating candy, you know. "ok, i'm going to go back in after this next one...oh! wow!...okay, one more, just one more..."

*grin*

it's difficult to tear oneself away. and tomorrow night is the peak, i may be out all night.

mayo, maybe it's corny to say this, but there is so much beauty, everywhere. why are we not drunk on it, all the time?

good night, my friend. i'm going to bed a little tipsy, i think. may your dreams be effervescent, and may you wake in the morning with a sideways smile because of them.

That's just terrible dear. If it can't be any more real than a screen, why would you bother? Don't you want to feel -them? There is more to living and loving than just beautiful words. You can understand each other more than through your verbally shared thoughts. You can share in other ways. How are you to trust, truthfully -if not face to face? You break my heart. I hope you can find a way to them.

Anonymous said...

Also, 2:09- Terribly bleak. If you want something, you go and you TRY and get it. Just because things may be hard for you and yours right now, doesn't prove that it will so be -always. If two people want to be together, they will make it work. Don't give up or set it all in stone, so suddenly. Try before you surrender. I just thought someone should say that to you. Good luck.

Good morning/afternoon/night Mayo, SS, Ergo, FASC, Amy, J, Elena, BC/Sweetcheeks, Andrea, TJ, Sdock; Kass, Possum and Miranth; various anons, watchers and lurkers; all ye wicked, wanton sinners and the oh so righteous brothers (and sisters) in the land o'blogbelieve!

How are you all today? Well, happy and free from sin, I hope! Actually, I don't. I don't think I want to know any adult that is FREE from sin. They can't be human if they are!

BC: I'm sorry to you didn't get to see FFDP and some of the other bands you wanted to see. Having said that, I bet it was worth the ticket price just to see Machine Head!!!!! I hope you had a fabulous time, sweetcheeks. I'm going to read your review as soon as I'm done here.

Ergo: According to Thomas Aquinas' views of gluttony: ONE MUST NOT EAT - period. He must have been a bag of bones! *wink and smooooooch*

RW: I didn't know bra sizes went to J!!! Oh my! Your poor friend must have had serious back pain. No wonder she had a reduction!

J: Glad to hear L is feeling better!

Amy: I'm coming visit you so I can have some of your yummy cooking and we can watch cartoon/anime together! Please, warn your neighbors!

The sigh up there is because a friend, and a few acquaintances, of mine were in a horrible boating accident this weekend. Two boats collided, head on, where Blind River (my home away from home of my youth and teenage years) connects with Alligator Bayou.

Six friends who went out for a day of fun, never returned home. Four are dead, one is still missing (and the river is being searched in an effort to recover his body) and one is in critical condition - not expected to live. They are/were all in their 20s.

It just serves as further proof that we never know. Day to day, minute to minute. Which is exactly why I believe we should say what we have to say NOW. Why we should never wish harm or ill will to another person, no matter how much you dislike them.
You never know if this will be their last day or your last day here on earth.

Well, once again, I suppose that is enough to ponder today.

Have a good Monday, everyone!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
6/Wendy

Whoop whoop! I sent out the manuscript!

Okay, so I was bummed because the web page said that I was entitled to a media rate for a literary manuscript, and the lady who worked next to the guy who was helping me started giving me a hard time. "Is it books? Is it bound? You're only entitled to a media rate if it's bound." Etc. In short, she wouldn't let the dude who was helping me give me a media rate. It was only a difference of two dollars, but she was so rude about it and I was just hormonal enough to be really peeved. I went and paid the extra but it still kind of pokes at me. I actually just emailed the US postal service for an answer. I don't care about the money, I just want to be right. ;)

Anyway check this out! I kept the receipt for sending out the manuscript. My clerk was number 9, and it was received at 12:18. I kid you effing not.

Okay, so here's another weird thing. First of all, you guys know that I am really OCD about numbers and letters. So it's par for the course that I notice these things.

Err, license plates have been haunting me. For almost a year, everywhere I turn I see a license plate with the name of this particular publishing company. (It's a short name.) They rejected the query letter last year, but seeing their name every frigging where made me want to try again. But that's not the only word I see on plates.

For the last month or so, I keep seeing plates with the word EGG on them. All the time. Everywhere. And today, when I pulled up to the post office, I was beside a car with the license plate EGG. As I was walking to the front door, I passed another one. EGG. After mailing the manuscript I went to Target and was behind a car coming out of the parking lot. EGG.

Now, WTF. I want it to symbolize something cool, like, "This is the beginning of a creation!" and not something crappy like, "You'd better get knocked up real soon, because you're running out of EGGs." Or that I should eat more eggs and less eggbeaters. ;D

Thank you al for the wishes of good luck! This manuscript, it will surely be rejected. I'm not saying that to prepare myself for the worst or anything; it's just a matter of odds. I did, after all, send it to the biggest sci fi publisher in the entire frigging world. I dunno, I just started at the top, where I know they get thousands of manuscripts per nanosecond and reject most of them. And bearing in mind that they already said no when I sent them the query letter. But for some reason, according to license plates, I am supposed to send it to them anyway.

That, and EGG.

You don't even have to like Obama to recognize how funny and clever this is. It's brill, give it a click!

Wendy, that's unbelieveable. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your friends. My deepest sympathies go to you and their families.

PP and Ergo, aren't they just glorious? Kids shows in Japan are really entertaining, especially if you can adapt to the language!

Gotta go Lovelies! Be by later!

Dear Wendy,

Left a note at your blog earlier, but I wanted to leave one here also.

Losing someone sucks, plain and simple. It gives you such a strange feeling to realize that person isn't there any longer. You know exactly what I mean, b/c we've both been there before.

Just remember that you'll see your friends again one day. Maybe they've already met your dad and brother and have been talking with them. You never know.

Take care of yourself, and please call if you need us. L and I both love you, honey. Be strong.

Ok, this is cool. Really cool. So much Cure-related activity lately, it's enough to make your hair look like Robert Smith's without hair spray!

I STILL wish the Lovecats had toured a little. How fun.

But...I guess I can settle for Leathermouth...if I have to. *coughsarcasmcough*

Question for all.

Which would you rather be known for. A bitch sometimes and cold, but when you say something it's from your heart.... Or fake nice and trying to impress people?

Those are the only two answers, you can't add one like..... Nice and honest just to impress SS. Take a poll.

Anonymous said...

It sounds like you are both...a bitch and a fake seeing your to chicken shit to sign in.

Original Punk J said...

Think what you like. You and your words don't bother me anymore. How can I become angry with someone who's not brave enough to use their real name? It's just words, not bullets or blades.

If you have something to say to me, I suggest you sign in so I'll at least know who's got the hate on for me.

Come on, sign in.

May I preface by saying that Frank is the nicest guy in the world? When I went up to him I was (dressed in pajamas with no make up, mind you) like "Hey Frank I'm sorry to bother you but, we just saw you and I was wondering if maybe I might get a picture?" He immediately put out his hand and asked our names, introducing himself as Frank (lol) and also introducing us to his 'friend' Trent (who was clearly his bodyguard). Instead of taking the picture and shooing us on our way, he actually engaged us in a 10 minute conversation which was something like the following:

Frank: -noticing our bags- Oh you guys been shopping? What'd you buy? Do they have like a Borders or something?
Karen: I just bought a book series I've been reading and Rock Band.
Me: No, they have like a big FYE though.
Frank: Ohhh cool. Rock band's fun, did you get the drums?
Karen: No I haven't.
Frank: Oh you gotta get them! They're the best part.
Karen: Well I want to! it's just that I can't afford them! (I think she might have mentioned something about how her husband would never leave the basement if she had them, too)
Frank: Oh, I know, they are expensive, but they're worth saving up for.
Me: I almost bought the Kung Fu Panda game for Wii. It looked cute.
Frank: Yeah? but I don't know, do you actually think that movie will be good?
Frank and I simultaneously: No, it'll be terrible.
Me: Yeah but, when we were in Chicago the other day at Navy Pier they had a giant cardboard panda and it was so ridiculous looking that I had to get a picture with it, and so now I'm kind in to it.
Frank: Laughs
Karen: I like Jack Black though! He's funny.
Frank: Yeah, but you know how sometimes he's a little too Jack Black?
Karen: True.
Frank: Anyway, Let's take this picture I don't wanna take up your whole day. (is he crazy???? he can take up my whole LIFE. lol)
Me: Okay! Let's -leans in, smiles-
Karen to Frank: Smile!
Frank: -smiles-
Me: See you at the show tomorrow!
Frank: See you then! have fun!
*goodbyes exchanged with more handshakes*

Aww! Thanks for sharing 5:16!! Awesome pic too! So happy you got to meet him! I am sure the others would be just as wonderful too, but certain members probably find it hard to face such adoration! But again, very very cool that ya met Frankie!! <3

And Mayo, really?? Nothing? You don't have one little thing to say? Do you need a nap? Take your time, we'll wait for you. :)

Anonymous said...

Oops, sorry I disd-appeared! I had to do the dishes. Well, dish. Well actually, bowl if you wanna get crazy with it. And finished scrubbing the tub and then had to get ready for Kung Fu.

Oh man, Frankles! Yeah, the dude makes time that he probably doesn't have just to be a nice guy. I highly doubt that I could have my "nice" turned on all the damn time, no matter how nice everyone else was. I'd probably be a little "OMG, people wanna talk to me" and get all shy and stupid. Frank though, the dude's a stand up guy. Gotta love 'im.

Anonymous said...

From VV's blog:

Frank is just a hyperactive midget who doesn't even play the guitar very well. Guitar players are a dime a dozen anyway, and we've already seen how easy it is to replace a drummer. If the other guys don't like how Gerard runs his band then let them leave. He could go solo and people would still buy his records.

Grrr.

K, good luck with the manuscript, not that you'll need it.

Today, I caught the bus home with my friend. She needed to go and buy something to get some change for the bus. We ended up in Thorntons and she bought me some chocolate. She is a darling.

Hiya MissTeeeeeee! Thanks so much! This one, though, is inevitable rejection. That's cool; no one gets snapped up by the biggest company on the first shot, especially after said company has already rejected the query letter, heehee. But that's cool; hopefully I fall somewhere in the middle. I just figured I'd start big, you know? The only thing that sucks is that you have to wait the entire 2-6 months before getting the rejection and submitting somewhere else. >_< So the manuscript kinda stagnates.

And both the Algorithm Marches are fun! I convinced a friend of mine to check them out, and now her and her roommates do both of them every morning just for fun.
