Up To The Ground.

Those hills breathe fire
And exhale into the stream
Billows of crackled frames
Mixed with the amassed sordid matter
Of a thousand million leaves
Pelf, from pandered promise
Settles into the hollows
Filling the rift with futile night
They will brush ash from their soles
For an eternity after having been told
Better to swallow holes than believe
What was struck, no longer stands

p.s. and so it went.

this is the story i was talking about before, about little 2 year old. now they say that someone saw here and spoke to her in the orlando airport boarding a plane.

Are her parent's divorced? Maybe the father got custody and the mother has a relative/companion elsewhere that she's sending the girl to so that her father can't take her away from her.

Far-fetched maybe, but infinitely less sinister than other possible scenarios.

I have never understood why schools are so against kids with peircings or coloured hair or big trainers etc. How the hell does dress sense effect learning ability.

Quick fly by.
They ( schools )are not against individuality and it has no bearing on their ( students )abilities. What it does do, ( free dress code ), however, is create cliques and opens people up for ridicule, which is why in England the majority of schools implement a uniform system.

It's just another way to stifle their creativity if you ask me. Schools just want kids to know what they want them to know.

No chance. Kids always find a way of expressing themselves :)

It does appear to be restrictive but it is purely for integration reasons.

Hope you are all well.

Hello GS!
it also helps to prevent competition and expense for parents and helps to separate "school time" from "own time"
though some schools regulations are much stricter than others.
I know here it helps instil a pride and cohesiveness when in contact with other schools too.

Hi guys,I am back from training! I did not roll around with Beautiful Boy tonight, nor with anyone. We did drills and sparring drills and drills and blah blah, then we went--again--outside to do sword and staff. It is--again--hot and humid as Satan's balls. It makes it hard to do the staff, because the wood is so sticky you have a hard time sliding your hands on it.

FILTHY.

GS, I'd like to point out something you said about schools using uniforms to prevent cliques and ridicule. I went to grade school and we all had very strict uniforms and trust me: kids will find something to ridicule you about, and there are still cliques.

Whats wrong with Emo?

Is it normal to hate EMO so much that I wasted my time posting this on isitnormal.com

What’s wrong with Emo? Not a very hard question to answer, I'm sure you'll all figure it out once they let you out of eighth grade, but just in case you find yourself unable to obtain that coveted C+ on your remedial math test; here, I typed it out for you (Granted, I’m assuming that you can read through that thick layer of hair you have slicked down in front of your eyes, I bet you tell people that it’s just the way your hair naturally grows.) Anyway, back to what’s wrong with emo: the band members put on the sad face and sing about their depression because, though they aren't actually depressed, they just want to FIT IN with the rest of the “NON-CONFORMISTS" (The Hypocrisy is almost palpable). Newsflash: Real Life isn't like The O.C. or whatever show it is that you people watch in secret, there are no Jocks roaming the streets, hell bent on oppressing you whilst they toss around a football. (Judging from what I have experienced anyway; granted I've gone to mostly art schools my entire life.). Also, most emo bands blast sh*tty power chords in attempt to hide the fact that they can't play very well (Take it from someone who plays Piano, Guitar, drums, and even the Harp for f**k sake). To the fans: If you want to listen to sad music, whatever, thats cool, go for it, but I have an idea, why not make it... now stay with me on this one... sad music that’s actually PLAYED WELL (Complete with vocals that are actually sung as opposed to screamed/moaned into a microphone.). You know music that doesn't spam cliché "cut myself, she broke up with me, break my bleeding heart sobsobsob" lyrics. Do yourself a favor; listen to Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, do it now. No excuses. Another thing, listening to sh*tty emo music doesn't make you deep, or more of an individual. Nor will it automatically make you "Against the mainstream". In fact, I'm pretty sure most of the My Chemical Romance/ Fallout Boy/ Hawthorn Heights type bullsh*t is all over MTV. You’re not exactly blowing my mind with your darkness (Or your parent’s mind’s for that matter) when you flip your bangs out from in front of your eye(s) and tell me your favorite band is Good Charlotte.

elena said...

Hello Mya, K and

Hello and goodbye L

resurrected wreck said...

Hi, K ^_^

Anonymous said...

I don't specifically have problems with emo or anything. I just hate the fact that some people would pretend to be something they're not in order to fit in/have friends or because everyone else is doing it. I just wish that everyone can just be theirselves. Seriously, what is wrong with just being you? I don't like cliques but to me, emo is the lowest of the low. Depression should not take over actions and physical appearance.

mya said...

My favorite band is and has always been the Eagles.

Anonymous said...

If the school is so against kids with long hair and wearing black, they should of banned the 80s!come on people admit it, if you grew up in the 80s did anyone here wear leggings or bicycle shorts? omg how unflattering!!LOL

Anonymous said...

Just some interesting opinions found on the net.

Anonymous said...

Meh. I have a soft spot for teenagers and their trends. I think teenagers are neat. I like their spirit and their rebel nature. I like how they think that when they're doing something I did twenty years ago, it's fresh and new. I think that's kind of cool, actually. (Back then it was Ozzy and Iron Maiden and stuff that was "dangerous" to listen to and made people kill themselves. "Suicide Solution" anyone?) I like how they think they are edgy and deep and then often they are edgy and deep.

Most of all I like how teenagers really do think that they can take on the world, because sometimes they can.

I just think that teenagers are kind of cool. I very clearly remember being one (I also remember being a child and a toddler believe it or not; my memory is sterling,) so I have not forgotten those feelings.

I guess that's why I'd like to teach high school after all. I like those kids.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, 9:50! That's how I feel too, at least I hope that's how I could be. Those kids really inspire me. I train with some teenagers, and many of my cousins are teens. They are such awesome people with their issues and discoveries and self-discoveries, their sturm and drang, and the way they sometimes feel like they are the first person to really get this book, or this band, or this poem, or whatever. I think that's so cool for them.

RW, it's on its way, on its way, I promise! I had to gt it imported from, uhh, from Zimbabwe.

mya said...

Little kids also should be treated like people - because they are! I can't stand to see how some parents talk to their kids - or they don't talk to their kids. They don't explain things.

Anonymous said...

I think you would be a great teacher, you really have to like being around kids and i think since you listen to them, they could learn alot from you,

Anonymous said...

Thanks anon, I hope you're right. I'm going to try my best but I have a long way to go. Two years, maybe more!

Anonymous said...

I'm telling you that fifty million screaming fans are fucking morons
Im glad i'm not a fan!

Anonymous said...

Two years isn't to long.As a mom i would love to have teachers with your outlook!

Anonymous said...

I learn a lot from them, too. They seem to remind me to keep discovering things and keep seeing things as if I've never seen them before.

I should also mention that one of my favorite teens is my teacher. She is a few belts ahead of me in Kung Fu because she's been doing it since she was seven (she would have gone to the Olympics a few years ago if her parents had let her go,) and she is a wise and gentle person. I have a lot to learn from her.

I also learn a lot from my two teenage cousins, in high school and college. It's amazing, but they're both already smarter than I am. Not smarter than I was at that age, but smarter than I am now. I'm so proud of them for that.

Anonymous said...

You know, I don't think there's been a voice to carry this generation, or at least I can't come up with one.

I think there are lots of voices that are carrying lots of groups within this current generation, but I don't think there's just one.

And as far as music is concerned, I'm not sure if there will ever be more "voices" like Dylan, Lennon, or any of the others.

Anonymous said...

The last two years went by in a snap, so it'll be here before I know it, I'm sure. It's a little daunting, going back to school but I think I'll be happy. Thank you for your kind words. :)

Anonymous said...

Splash, well that's a great point. These days no one really steps up, and I think that's fine. Maybe we don't need a voice because we ca be our own voices?

And look what happens when we try to foist the "Voice Of A Generation" title on someone. our Kurt Cobains and Eddie Vedders. It makes them miserable.

So while it's awesome if someone out there is saying something in a loud voice, something that's awesome and makes us want to listen, to learn and to cheer, maybe we should be saying that stuff ourselves?

I dunno. It is so great to hear someone's music or listen to them speak and say, "OMG, preach it, that's awesome." It's a good feeling to relate to that.

Anonymous said...

Maybe that's a lofty statement, I don't know.

Anyway, hey everyone!

Anonymous said...

I guess some teachers forget what it's like to be young and coming into your own.If they could just remember...i think they could really get their trust and get some positive things back from their students.

Anonymous said...

Maybe we don't need a voice because we ca be our own voices?

Yeah, yeah, I think that's a really good point/outlook.

Anonymous said...

Most of my teachers were uninspired and uninspiring. But there were two or three who--I know how cheesy this sounds, believe me--had the key to my head. There was all kinds of stuff locked up in there, and all kinds of stuff locked out, and I an absolutely, to this day, name the teachers who saw me as a person and not a freak, who got me, and who totally opened the door. They got me through high school and they got me into college. If I could be that teacher for someone else, that would be so cool.

Anonymous said...

But there were two or three who--I know how cheesy this sounds, believe me--had the key to my head.

That's not cheesy at all, I know exactly what you mean.

It's a good feeling to have that, rewarding in a way.

Anonymous said...

Splash, incidentally, while I think it's disappointing for someone to put down that mantle of responsibility, I also think that they are entitled to that. People get tired. They get tired of fighting and standing for something, of just battling and trying to make a change. It's sad when someone gives up that mantle, but it's understandable. I had sympathy for Kurt Cobain when he just couldn't do it anymore.

We don't even have to get into Gerard right now I think, but just to be clear: My disappointment doesn't stem from him putting down that mantle. It stems from him expending his energy to do the exact opposite of what he used to say he stood for, and doing a proportional amount of damage instead.

Anonymous said...

I really enjoy being around these kids to.my own son taught me how to use a computer! WE didn't have them when i went to school. His friends hang at our house and i love it!I find them to be so smart and believe me,they have no trouble defending what they believe in! I wish i was more like that growing up.

mya said...

My daughter is playing Kingdom Hearts and talking to the characters and herself... It is really funny!

Anonymous said...

It's sad when someone gives up that mantle, but it's understandable.

Totally, of course. I know I couldn't do it, and I have great admiration for those who could.

And even greater admiration for those who are able to say, "Look, I appreciate it, but I just can't do this anymore."

And I'll just stop there.

On teacher I liked a lot, though she wasn't the best of the best, was Mme. Nystrom, my high school French teacher. She spoke like four languages and she was tough but funny, a big lady with white blond hair in a severe pony tail. She wore a lot of blue.

Anyway, we usually got along really well and I mostly enjoyed her class (when I wasn't bored stiff,) except we did have one dispute and it was this:

One day a dude in the class came in wearing a Metallica T shirt. I didn't like this guy; he was your typical 80's mulleted scumbag who was surly with everyone. Anyway, hsi Metallica shirt had skulls and bones on it and Mme. Nystrom found it offensive. The school that year was trying to implement a dress code, and Mme. Nystrom was going to send him to the principal's office.

It so happened that I was wearing a Guns N' Roses t shirt, and mine had skulls and guns (and roses, naturally) on it.

I didn't think it was right for her to send him to the principal and not me, so I raised my hand in class and I asked her if she found my shirt offensive too. And if so, why wasn't I also going to the principal's?

She was flummoxed. She ended up not sending to the principal's but she did tell me to pipe down unless I wanted the both of us to go, and she told us both not to wear shirts like that in her class anymore.

She explained to me after class that it was because I was a "different class of person" and that she knew I wasn't a trouble maker etc. I told that I didn't think it was fair, and she agreed with me and thereafter, we went on peacefully as before.

But it was just one of those things in high school that I can never forget.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Aww you got a new kitty?

ergoproxy said...

hello again

hi carrie

unfortunately K teaching has a lot more to it than liking teens, I can tell you that the students I taught were never as much of a drama as policies, demands, high workload, pay scales which don't reflect the qualifications teachers have and all the internal goings on within a school. The fact you may have to teach classes outside your teaching areas because of staffing as well as be expected to run any manner of out of school time activities. Plus the behaviour guidelines and regulations covering teachers and their classroom behaviour management which are set by the government and by the school. Add to that the attitudes of the media and public which are happy to blame any issues teens have on their education and somehow feel that schools should be the place to fix it all, and parents who don't care that their kids are disruptive and possibly worse. And of course teens who feel it is absolutely fine to treat you like shit and verbally abuse you for no reason apart from the fact they don't wish to be there. In a class of 30 your job is sometimes just to survive the lesson.
Many teachers begin with wonderful ideals but it is a far harsher reality than you probably imagine.
It is usually those things that cause teachers to become jaded and teach to a method. And do be aware that as soon as you're a teacher that kid you may wish to unlock may completely shut you out because you are a teacher, not because of the person you are.
However there are many of us who can maintain our enthusiasm and do make a big difference to teens and I have a great many past students who tell me that they were changed by being in my classes, and those of my colleagues.
If you choose to teach try to maintain your ideals but be very aware it's not as easy as it may seem so be prepared for a lot of trials and disappointments.

And Ergo, my college roommate is a teacher now gone back to grad school to become a principal, and she has so many horror stories. She finds the work so fulfilling though, when she gets through to that "one" student, she just keeps on. I totally respect the profession.

hello again

Ergo I have no doubt you are a wonderful teacher.

I think it's sad that in this country teachers are terribly underpaid. Considering they are helping to shape our future that is a sad thing.

Hello BC, Carrie and anon.

What's shakin'?

ergoproxy said...

aw sounds cute carrie!

it seems silly for the resposibility teachers have, a lot of people who would make great teachers either change their minds or leave due to the pay

Yes. Yes they do. They SHOULDN'T. but they do. Especially the ones that they dispense in your face. :P

Hey Elena, Ergo, BC, Carrie, and Hearts Anon!

toujours said...

hello, crickets.

elena said...

Cool Ergo - can't wait.

Hey BC - Mom's doing well, thanks.

Hey Carrie - I'm just catching up and watching Aqua Teen. You have a new kitty?

ergoproxy said...

*chirrup* TJ

Original Punk J said...

Hey TJ! Is 'crickets' sort of like 'grasshopper'? ;)

elena said...

Hey J

It goes, Elena, it goes. :) Did you get my voicemail?

Glad to hear Mom's alright. Has she had much pain at all? And did they insert a plastic lens?

Carrie said...

Anonymous said...

toujours said...

Anonymous said...

toujours said...

Anonymous said...

Yep, I'm okay Elena, thanks

toujours said...

oh wow. i didn't know you could make comets. that's cool!

very nice try. :)

Original Punk J said...

"Crystal" lens? Hey wait a minute, I just got the cheapo plastic/fiberglass one! Nobody even OFFERED me a crystal lens!

*pouts slightly*

Well, Medicare paid for mine, so I guess it all evens out. YAY!

So what did the dr do, did she even need a new lens? Was hers salvageable?

ergoproxy said...

oh 12:25 is a question mark for me, that's strange
I couldn't figure out what square you meant

Original Punk J said...

Anon, your comet is cool...

...but I kinda like the hearts better, myself. :)

I'm just a hopeless romantic.

toujours said...

lol sorry ergo. must have different programs? i always see a square when one of those symbols won't post.

ergoproxy said...

a crystal lens?
J perhaps one has to trek through the wilds of Borneo and risk ancient tribal curses and booby traps to find one

elena said...

J

They told her that if she got the crystal lens she wouldn't have to wear glasses. Mom has worn glasses for at least 30 years. I really wish she would have gone with the crystal lens but of course she wouldn't not because she couldn't afford it - She said "now just how long do you think I have left? I'm not gonna waste that money."

Oh hanging with Mom can be so fun!

ergoproxy said...

*pouts*

I wanna see a comet!

why do I see a question mark?

anon what numbers did you use?

Original Punk J said...

Perhaps, Ergo. Sort of an Indiana Jones thing, wouldn't you say? Being chased by massive boulders, falling into snake pits, almost having your heart torn out, nearly being set on fire...

I'd say you'd EARN the right to have crystal in your eye, then!
