That is a great question.

One that requires a little back history, current insight, and whatnot...

I was so overwhelmed that the thought of walking off into oblivion sounded rather reasonable. It was then, with seven days worth of living layered on my body that I found those words. I can speculate that if I had stumbled upon them at any other time I would have completely missed the punchline. (Oh, the drama.) And, here they are again. Their missive as apparent now as it was then...only I have been there, done that.

And I am now, as I was then, required to debate myself long into the night the commitment of my endeavors. Yet, I am unable to get past the immediate burden of now. The constant demands of my time, my mind, are as good a place as any to wait it out. Work. One might assume that it is my fear of failure that has me stalled. That may have been the case then, but not this time. This time it is fear of becoming stale, stuck, tired and ridiculous…and my own overactive scrutiny as evidenced by the aforementioned fears. I can think shit to death, but right now I am not in the mood.

Perhaps, I am lazy. So what? Maybe I need a reprieve from self-deconstruction. Nope. I will just put it off for a little while and take a break. Tomorrow, next week, next month aren't going anywhere and all weigh heavy on my mind. I will give them due course, in time. But this, this moment that is happening right now…I have to deal with that first (even if it is nothing). And I know when I am ready and after proper deliberation, I will be comfortable, not resigned, with my decision.

Then, I am sure to hear the brilliant, overcooked opinions of those looking out for their interests in the guise of caring suggestion. They'll think me an idiot who blundered upon reason. Fuck ‘em if they don’t get it.

All of that back there and the way the author selected his words to sound like what they tell.

“lifts and lets fall. lifts and lets fall.”

“which spurts fragments of anguished glass.”

I see it, the crane in the scrapyard plowing through the wreckage and pulling up piece after piece without inspection. It sounds just like that, the pick and pull, the overflow spilling over the sides, the popping of the windows. That is an amazing talent; to be able to choose words in such a way as to make the reader see what they hear. Or is it, hear what they see?

And it is dark and fateful. It asks me to consider what will tear me apart. How easy it is to devour prey. Hunger, either voracious or timid, is base. And there is always a suitable meal. There it is so beautiful, enticing that we can’t resist the need, the desire, to grasp it tightly holding it steady so that we can get our fill of it. Our free hand may then break it down to its pieces parts. What is consumed will either be used for sustenance or pulled apart and re-pieced for an altogether different machine. One built from recycled guts. Delivered to a showroom near you, or shit on the heads of unsuspecting park patrons. Either way...we are what we eat.

And the contrary always appeals to me, reminds me that I can be full of shit.

Natural versus manufactured destruction...involuntary dismay and the crow and the crane and we are preening. Is it less evident because it is instinctual or because it is easier to sleep at night?

p.s. I will undoubtedly revise as it has re-established its hold of my time and my grooming.

*REAL OFFICIAL WORD THAT HE IS STILL BREATHING WOULD BE A FUCKING THOUGHT.

someone at INO called Reprise Records to tell them the rumor about Gerard. they said if it was true they would be the first to know. so he's still kicking.

Anonymous said...

*thanks very much. But it would still be good of management. PROFESSIONAL.

People are sick.

I don't think that she really need to call the record company. All you would have to do is turn on MTV or Fuse. If he had died it would have been on there.

Wouldn't you expect a management company -to do as such?

Just for the sake of dispelling such an extreme rumor.

But thank you Martha Jones, and Anon. (Other Anon.)

Martha Smith-Jones said...

You are welcome

From what I have seen their management doesn't come out and say anything.

Gw got married nothing. Frank got married I don't think they said anything. And when Mikey got married we found out because he was taking a break.

And than there is the whole Ray and his son thing..

Anonymous said...

Very valid point Martha Jones. As usual. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. And I am very fond of reading you.

I will say then, their management is very poor at their job. And they should seek anew. -AND STILL DISPELL THE RUMOR.

I hope you are enjoying your night, or will be soon Martha Jones, Anons.
-goodnight

Ecoute bien mon coeur t'appelle
Nous pourrons si bien nous aimer
Tu verras la vie sera belle...

Hi TJ! DO you ahve high speed internet? ;D

Elena, so comme ci comme ca then. Meh.

I complained about my day on the last page but for the sake of brevity, I took my Dad up on his offer to weedwhack my garden, and he ended up cutting down 2/3 of a beautiful, old wisteria tree because he thought it was a vine. I totally loved the tree and now it's down to almost nothing. He felt really bad about it even though I tried to play it off like, "Ah well, it will grow back." Wisterias take years to grow and flower. So I went into my house and got emo over it.

Also, everything hurts from one of my training brothers throwing me down super hard last night a bunch of times. >_<

But I just watched Juno and it was really cool, and now I'm watching Last Order on my computer and leaning against the back massager.

But I'm still in a bad mood. >_<

elena said...

A rum shake, Anon #1

I've never had one.

Hey TJ - What's up?

Anonymous said...

Anon#1 -I think you might be a bit of a Cuss.

Anonymous said...

Juno is a way excellent movie.

toujours said...

i have high-speed at work, kapunua (but no sound...), so i'll peek at your video tomorrow!

Hi TJ! I can't want for you to see it then. Oh man, I wish you could hear it because the song is gorgeous and so moving. You'll like it. :)

Hey Ergo! You made me laugh, the way you phrased it, it sounded like your brother cut your parents back too much. I'm a little overtired. ;)

Thanks Thing2, the wisteria is beautiful. I love all plants and flowers, I kind of go crazy for them.

toujours said...

hey there ergo! :)

Hey Ergo....sending you a package tomorrow!

Anon #1 - You try a Rum Shake then get back to me on if it's good or not!

Anonymous said...

Goodnight #3, sweet dreams. Thing2, I'm surprised. Ice cream is awesome.

I do love flowers and greenery too Kapunua. A lovely place to escape when the metropolis gets to be too much.

Anonymous said...

i had a wisteria. thing grew too fast and went wild. took over the yard. had to chop it down. heartbreaking.

Anonymous said...

Elena, I have no idea what a Bomb Pop is...

sounds questionable..

Anonymous said...

Hiya Ergo *waves*

Fruit punch: Dammit! Do you try to be discreet about your identity? Hello to you ^_^

:)

Anonymous said...

A Bomb pop is a popsicle with three delicious flavors in it, and it's red, white, and blue.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Elena. ^_^

TJ, it's Final Fantasy VII, which is the best one of the series. For me, it's right up there with LOZ as one of those life-changing games. To people who don't get that feeling it's hard to explain. ;)

Anon, I'm not sure why it's so expensive online. My cousin found one in a used game bin for about twenty bucks. I got it in '00 for around $20 as well. But on Amazon it's anywhere from $300-$700 which is ridiculous. I live in fear of mine getting a scratch or something. Three silly disks, like gold!

Anonymous said...

"Fruit punch: Dammit! Do you try to be discreet about your identity? Hello to you ^_^"

Yes, hence the black disguise in various shapes. Hello to you and your odd little face as well.

Definitely play Zelda: start with Ocarina of Time and go from there (unless you are really old school and still have a Nintendo console, then start with the first game!) OoT is the best one followed closely--and by "closely" I mean "pretty much neck in neck"--by Twilight Princess.

TJ, I stopped playing Final Fantasy after VIII believe it or not. I played 8 and 7 just about simultaneously and despite 8's superior graphics (I really did love 8 and still have a soft spot for it,) 7 was the one that grabbed me by the throat and has not let go in 8 years' time. I mean to the point of, like, I sorta still sometimes try to dress like the characters. O_o And I took up Kung Fu because Tifa did it.

No other adult fangirls the way I fangirl. ;D

FFX was the one with Yuna, right?

Ack, sorry had to go cook supper!

So anyway, yeah aqt the age of 14 she could very well BE pregnant, but I doubt she'd have that reaction. And "Gerard and Lyn-z" as baby names kinda proves it.

I've found the Pull Out method at that age worked effectively enough for me....but than again it was over so quickly at that age ;)

triston they do grow of trees, where else would they grow, but it was a mix of cholesterol meds and grapefriut juice a real huge nono
she wasn't aware of it at the time, and has been paying the price since

I've found the "Keepin it in your pants" method worked great for me.

After that it's the "One pill a day keeps the baby away" method.

Triston, what you just said proves how many parents these days don't do their jobs correctly, and what's scary is that sometimes parents act more like their children's friends, rather than authority figures.

mayo,

are you well? are you seeing beautiful things, and laughing with friends? and do you have quiet moments when the beauty of the world becomes a song, and you feel like you're bathing in it, drinking it in with every quarter of your skin?

sometimes these days i've been weighed down with the worries of tomorrow, and sometimes so irritable at the people in my life (who i should always love, and not want to just tell to shut. the. fuck. up!), but there have also been so many moments where everything i could see around me had suddenly become exquisite.

and not just nature (though, obviously, i respond to nature quite keenly). the co-worker who has been giving me a ride to and from work this week (my sister is out of town) is a performer. she and her two adult children are a gospel group (and a pretty successful one locally, too!), and we have found a common ground in the delight we both have for music.

she's been playing their cds for me -- and i didn't think i would like them, but listened to be polite. but only at first. maybe the themes aren't quite what i understand, but the emotions behind them, and the music which conveys that emotion...

i've had chills listening to them. you know, those shivers you get when you hear music that taps into your heart. robert graves wrote about that in his book "the white goddess" -- he said that when you have that sensation you know the gods are touching you through it.

there is no limitation on beauty.

and everything is beautiful.

and i've been drunk on it this week, when i should more properly have been grey with worry.

i don't care.

everything is turned upside down and my ground is wholly uncharted and even unimagined. i long for the future and am afraid of it. i want to step slowly and carefully so i don't mess everything up, and at the same time i want to leap ahead, ignoring every caution sign.

and it's funny, but one of the only certain things in my life these days is blogbelieve.

thank you.

sleep well, mayo. you're on my wrist and in my thoughts.

Well Amy...I am much more choosy about my moments, who , what, where, and when....now....but at 14.....I was hell.

I think the "boys germs" method works well
lol

I used to tell the early teens in science when we did reproduction that it was like this ,
I place a $100 bill at one end of the football field , at the other I have 300 000 people and I say "go!"
do you think one of them will get there?
I put my hands up then about 1/2 foot apart and say "1 egg, at least 300 000 sperm, that far. AND they are jet propelled"

usually gave them a pretty clear idea

AUGGGGGHH...I hate condoms

but I don't push my luck anymore....I've made it this far without even catching so much as a flea....and it seems these days everyone is sick...I saw a commercial the other day that said one out of five people suffer with herpes....I don't like those odds.
