I would like to share with you one of my favorites.
SHOCK
C.K. Williams
Furiously a crane
in the scrapyard out of whose grasp
a car it meant to pick up slipped,
lifts and lets fall, lifts and lets fall
the steel ton of its clenched pincers
onto the shuddering carcass
which spurts fragments of anguished glass
until it's sufficiently crushed
to be hauled up and flung onto
the heap from which one imagines
it'll move on to the shredding
or melting down that awaits it.
Also somewhere a crow
with less evident emotion
punches its beak through the dead
breast of a dove or albino
sparrow until it arrives at
a coil of gut it can extract,
then undo with a dexterous twist
an oily stretch just the right length
to be devoured, the only
suggestion of violation
the carrion jerked to one side
in involuntary dismay.
Splayed on the soiled pavement
the dove or sparrow; dismembered
in the tangled remnants of itself
the wreck, the crane slamming once more
for good measure into the all
but dematerialized hulk,
then luxuriously swaying
away, as, gorged, glutted, the crow
with savage care unfurls the full,
luminous glitter of its wings,
so we can preen, too, for so much
so well accomplished, so well seen.
p.s. it was a plunger but nevertheless.

Anon,
I have always defended K. Her name got drug into the orange little blogger mess that night because she and I were "conspicuously absent from the blog or some shit. I never really understood how K. fit into the whole thing. Just guilt by association I guess.

Just wanted to leave a note for everyone who has sent out love, healing energy, gave me links to helpful places (there are several of the vitimins that I am getting tomorrow)and just general good wishes.
And for that, I thank you so much.
TJ, Anima, Hazel, and anyone in need of a little love, I send it to you.
Mayo, SS,
No words tonight. Just be still and dream.
Love. Hope. Faith.
Hiya L, how are you today?
Has the pain eased at all?
I wish I could take it away with good thoughts.
L,
I hope you feel better.
*sends L happy thoughts*
^_^
Thank you so much, Miss T., Smoke. I am feeling a liiittttllleee better, but in the middle of one of the worst flares I've had, it's been a peachy week.
I'm surprised J. hasn't ran screaming yet...
Hello l
One of the girls I work with has just been told she has Fibromyalgia. She's been out for two weeks now. We don't know if she's going to come back either. I feel for you, L.
I wish there was more we could do.
LOL L, I think J is made of stronger stuff.
I hope next week is so much better than this one for you.
Oh, and don't tell her I told you, but she cooked supper night before last, grilled seasoned chicken, with rice boiled in chicken broth, and spinich.
She SAYS she can't cook, but it was wonderful! It was the most I had ate in about 3 days. I just don't want to eat when I hurt like this. But that was a nice surprise.
MJ, how is your health today? Better I hope.
So, J is quite the chef eh?
I shall keep it under my big tall white chefs hat.
to bitch and complain. Don't forget, this country was built on the blood, sweat, tears, convictions and bravery of others. Those who fought for what they believed was right. Those who died to help better the lives of their families, friends and future generations.
THANK YOU to them all.
The Story of Independence Day
and America's Birthday
Independence Day is the national holiday of the United States of America commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
At the time of the signing the US consisted of 13 colonies under the rule of England's King George III. There was growing unrest in the colonies concerning the taxes that had to be paid to England. This was commonly referred to as "Taxation without Representation" as the colonists did not have any representation in the English Parliament and had no say in what went on. As the unrest grew in the colonies, King George sent extra troops to help control any rebellion. In 1774 the 13 colonies sent delegates to Philadelphia Pennsylvania to form the First Continental Congress. The delegates were unhappy with England, but were not yet ready to declare war.
In April 1775 as the King's troops advanced on Concord Massachusetts Paul Revere would sound the alarm that "The British are coming, the British are coming" as he rode his horse through the late night streets.
The battle of Concord and its "shot heard round the world" would mark the unofficial beginning of the colonies war for Independence.
The following May the colonies again sent delegates to the Second Continental Congress. For almost a year the congress tried to work out its differences with England, again without formally declaring war.
By June 1776 their efforts had become hopeless and a committee was formed to compose a formal declaration of independence. Headed by Thomas Jefferson, the committee included John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston and Roger Sherman. Thomas Jefferson was chosen to write the first draft which was presented to the congress on June 28. After various changes a vote was taken late in the afternoon of July 4th. Of the 13 colonies, 9 voted in favor of the Declaration, 2 - Pennsylvania and South Carolina voted No, Delaware undecided and New York abstained.
To make it official John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence. It is said that John Hancock signed his name "with a great flourish" so "King George can read that without spectacles!."
The following day copies of the Declaration were distributed. The first newspaper to print the Declaration was the Pennsylvania Evening Post on July 6, 1776. On July 8th the Declaration had its first public reading in Philadelphia's Independence Square. Twice that day the Declaration was read to cheering crowds and pealing church bells. Even the bell in Independence Hall was rung. The "Province Bell" would later be renamed "Liberty Bell" after its inscription -
Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof
And although the signing of the Declaration was not completed until August, the 4th of July has been accepted as the official anniversary of United States independence. The first Independence Day celebration took place the following year - July 4 1777. By the early 1800s the traditions of parades, picnics, and fireworks were established as the way to celebrate America's birthday. And although fireworks have been banned in most places because of their danger, most towns and cities usually have big firework displays for all to see and enjoy.

Well, I'm not. Damn it. I wish I could hire Bobby Flay and Gordon Ramsey and Paula Deen to come cook for me every damn day. That would be lovely. :)
Hey Martha! How are you?
Smoke, please tell your co-worker I know how they feel! I have been looking at a lot of things, and besides the vitimins and suppliments, we have a massage therapist in town that specificly does Myomassage. I called her today to try to set up an appt. but she thinks it will be better if I am out of the flare before she does the massage. I also want to look into Tai Chi. One site I looked at really recommended it.
LOL Miss T. J. is pretty tough, but she was cracking a bit there a couple of days ago.

Might be better if you put it under the yellow knickers! :)
And anon, thank you for the reminder.
And if I missed the Canadians before, Happy Past Canada Day!
I left a note on your blog, but I will say it here anyway:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PJ! Love you bunches!
LOL, those infamous yellow knickers.
We have been dogsitting this week and everyday max has managed to pull a pair of my knickers out of the wash basket and sit chewing them.
I prefer pizza myself.
L aside from some breathing problem I am alright
Speaking of pizza, ours just got here. Well, not on it's own, but it's here.
So I will go for now, but again, thank you so much to everyone who has helped and sent get well wishes. You don't know how much that means to me.
Goodnight, and sweet dreams.
Before I go,
Breathing problems, Martha?
Are you ok?
Yeah MJ, are you gonna be OK?
Goodnight L sweetie, you take care.
Goodnight, L. :)
I'm off to take a shower and I'm gonna make my husband watch TBPID. Eff yeah! And he will love it. He will. I have mind control over him. ^_^
See you later smoke. have fun.
Goodnight, everyone. And Martha, I hope you feel better. Sending you love and wishes.
Here's some "bitching and complaining" for ya: The Trail of Tears.
My ex boyfriend tried to pull that "It was right for the settlers to do this; it's the way of the world" thing with me, too. I asked him if, let's say the "turrists" invaded and "settled" America in this day and age. Hundreds of years later, would that be considered all right, too?
History is written by the "winners."
Just popped in for a second, sorry, I'm not caught up. Hello to everyone nice.
Just about to watch Anchorman with Jo-chan and eat tons of ice cream. I've never seen Anchorman but she says it's hella funny. We'll see. ;)
Hi K, history is always written by the winners.
Independence Day for Native Americans
by Robin Carneen
When the lands are given back to us, and we don't have to do fund raisers or occupations to get them back ;
When the buffalo are not hazed and killed by government agencies;
When rocks are not sold as souvenirs on Alcatraz ;
When Indian names and images are not used as Sports mascots or for commercial selling of products ;
When we can have equal time in our classrooms across the United States to learn and speak our languages so they are not lost forever ;
When we have funding in our schools so our children can learn;
When all tribes can be "recognized" ;
When we can keep our casino monies and take care of our own;
When we all have health care, card carrying or not ;
When we can have statues that also commemorate our own people;
When we can change historical markers to reflect the truth and not glamorize the murders;
When we can see curriculum in our school books and classrooms that are not romanticized or glossed over when it comes to what really happened in and around Indian Country ;
When we don't have to ask permission to hunt and gather for sustenance, ceremony, or for medicinal reasons;
When all Sacred Sites are in place;
When our ancestors remains or artifacts are uncovered, the corporation or construction companies JUST STOP and find a different place to build;
When DJ's of commercial radio stations stop putting Indian people down;
When we can get our Indian Trust $$$ back out of the US Government's hands;
When we can get adequate and efficient housing for all Reservations & rancherias & there is no waiting list ;
When we can get more of a variety of commodity foods and some fresh food...like eggs, milk, etc ;
When we can all have enough land given back to grow our own foods;
When we are reservations and reservations are stopped being used as toxic and nuclear waste dumps;
When the US Government apologizes and is held to answer for the atrocities and genocidal acts it did against countless Native American people ;
When our President makes a visit to each Rez and realizes what he has re-created in Afghanistan, Iraq and countries to come;
When our ceremonies are not sold by those who disrespect the pipe, the sweat lodge, the sundance and the things that help us heal ;
When we can get roads, power, phones, and computers to the Reservations & rancherias that are without these things
When we have a gym, clinic, wellness center, etc on each and every Reservation;
When we have our own radio station on each Rez;
When we have more kids graduate from High school and college;
When we have adults returning back to school and getting their GED;
When we have less or no Indians in Prison and jail or political prisoners like Leonard Peltier;
When we have more rehab, preferably traditional and native way facilities ;
When we have more prevention programs and activities on the Rez's;
When poverty dissipates and children and adults do not have to go hungry;
When women are not referred to by the name "Squaw" and men "Chief" ;
When Winona La Duke sits as President in the White House
Sure is, MissT.
I will be okay.
Goodnight L and S&V
Hello kapu
Though it would be nice for cultures to share countries instead of one always trying to claim it and wipe out the others.
Hey MJ.
Right, before I go:
If seeing self-congratulatory, patriotic holidays from the POV of another group who do not have such "independence" and from whom, in fact, said "independence" was taken by the settlers = "bitching and complaining" then I am more than happy to be the one bitching and complaining. Trying to guilt me into seeing it with 'Murrika Glasses on never works, because I don't have that kind of patriotism to begin with.
And I am, after all, the resident "mouthy bitch," lest we forget. ^_~
Bye guys! Movie time.
Exactly MissT. Small pox, anyone?
No small pox thanks K ^-^ See ya later.
MJ, You say you are OK but I am adding you to my list of people who are getting my best thoughts and wishes.
Goodnight everyone, I'm off to bed.
Goodnight miss t
Thank you Kapunua. I have seen the Trail Of Tears. The way native americans were treated was horrible but it does not change the facts of The American Revolution or why The American Revolution was fought.
You choose to disrespect and dishonor those for those who have fought for America, and vocalize your feelings. I choose to remember and honor them and vocalize my feelings. We have those rights because of them.
Happy 4th of July to you.
And thank you
BlogBelieve,
Again, Happy 10 Months!

We have those rights because of them.
"We" = white America. Sorry, I can't enjoy it when it comes at the expense of an entire other culture. Enjoy yourself, though, and have a fun holiday.
Anyway!
Anchorman was funny in some parts, I have to admit. ^_^ Now we are back to the FFVII marathon, so I'll catch up with you all later! :D
see you K! have a good time
(I agree Anchorman had some good bits but I personally think Will Ferrell needs to stop making movies for a while, they just aren't really funny, he should wait for a great script- quality not quantity)
Hello Mayo, SS, Ergo, RW, Elena, watchers, lurkers....everyone!
How are you all? Well and happy, I hope!
I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy 10 Month Anniversary!
Possum: Thank you so much for the thoughts and wishes. You should be very proud of that little gremlin of yours. I think you are correct. The kids are alright and some, like yours, are especially alright! :)
BC: I miss you too, sweetcheeks. I'll catch up with you soon!
FASC and RW: Thank you for the well wishes! They are most appreciated!
Amy: I'm happy to hear that Hazel will be okay. I hate to see any little creature in pain :(
No more catnip for Hazel! Besides, I hear the stuff is addictive! ;)
Mya and Miranth: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! *huge hugs and kisses*
Ergo: *big smooooooch*
I would also like to say I very much like the idea of the Viking Kitty Wall Mural!
Viking kittens + Led Zep = LOVE (if you ask me). Thank you to the anon who posted that one! That was adorable (and funny).
TJ: I'm happy to hear your ct scan went well. I'm still sending all sorts of positive thoughts and energy your way!
L and Martha: I hope you both feel much better very soon!
Entropy: You know I'm thinking of you and your boyfriend. I hope he's able to get home to you soon!
I'm sure I'm forgetting something (or a few things); but, I'm in sort of a rush. I have fireworks to see!

Welp, we just got through watching most of TBPID! YAY! Told you guys I'd make him watch it. And guess what? It was a Bob lovefest.
"That boy is the shit."
"Bob is a damn fine drummer."
"I'm telling you, Bob is what makes that band. I'm telling you."
Hee-hee. I ♥ Bob, too. :)
But you wanna know what it made me want to do? GO TO FREAKIN' FLORIDA TO SEE LEATHERMOUTH! YAY!
Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait.
I do miss my favorite band though. :(
Okie-doke.
Anyhoo......
Mayo,
I hope you have a fantabulous weekend. I don't really celebrate the 4th that much. I mean, I do appreciate the day and what it means and all but I just don't do much celebrating. I live in
Georgia. There will be a big fireworks thingy at the high school stadium and it will last about twenty minutes. Ha! Yeah. I live in Geor-guuuhhhh. Hope you have a lovely night and a nice holiday, Mayo. Ten whole months, dude! Eeekk! Pinch me!

hey wendy
*smoooooooooch*
goodnight smoke sweet dreams
(with a Bob backbeat)
I'm busy packing to go camping
I'll be away 2 days
*comes down the stairs from her room*
*grabs a cup of mayo's coffee*
*plumps herself down on the couch without spilling a drop*
*notices her hands*
what the hell? how do i manage to get ballpoint pen all over my hands?
can't take me anywhere.
*sips coffee*
mmm, nice blend you found here, mayo. good job. :)
Hiya TJ how are you?
oh, i didn't mention this but i think it's very cool.
when i was coming back from my ct scan the other day, a hawk passed right in front of the car. it swooped down out of the trees on one side of the road and soared across to the other side -- right at eye level, right in front of us.
something like that, it stands out, you know? it's not usual. and raptors are special birds, indicating special messages.
i took it to be a good omen.
oh hi, ergo. i'm not too bad.
how's the packing going?
I'm good hubby is just home so packing begins in earnest
I have so many jumpers and warm stuff lol
A whole big suitcase just for me for 2 nights
but I do have 3 towels in there.
Shoes!!!
I forgot shoes!
lol
you'll need those, ergo.
hehehe
i love the fact that as we are taking our tray back ute I can put anything in as long as it fits, so I'm not constrained by one suitcase
shoes are now in separate bag
good for you!
i went past a barbeque place today, and the smell of woodsmoke made me all nostalgic for camping....
'course, the way i used to camp was a bit more involved than the usual style.
it takes a lot of gear to camp medievally.
*drinks the coffee*
*idly reads the dictionary*
*hums "heaven help us"*
I can imagine
our camping has become more comfortable since every one got married and has kids, prior they were called "hell missions" and believe me it wasn't a misnomer
once cooked 2 fish one on a stick one on a tyre iron over a fire and had a loaf of bread and BBQ sauce
for 5 people
and it was cold
worst night camping ever!!!!
sounds like an adventure, that's for sure.
camping in an tir (that's the kingdom i was from) usually meant camping in the rain. i can remember one court we had at the end of one weekend event where everyone was crowded in under the baronial pavilion, all damp and huddled around their excellencies as they conducted business.
*heh*
sounds marvellous though
my cousin and her husband are medievalists in Brisbane, their wedding was done that way (though I couldn't get down for it)
Helloo everyone
oh yes, medieval-style weddings are really something to see. you get them pretty often in the sca, of course.
when i was married, we almost went that route, but then just had a simple handfasting. but our group had a feast scheduled for that day, so we took our combined families to the feast that evening. made them all dress up in garb and everything! it was neat. :)
hey there bc. how are you doing tonight?
oh lovely
hello BC!
oh lovely
hello BC!
Hiya TJ, Ergo. How are you?
I'm good. I was out all day, but I came back with a chipped tooth. I didn't realize until earlier today that my front tooth was starting to loosen, until I brushed it. Now I have to wait until next week to get it fixed, but other than that, I'm okay :)
yikes, bc!
I must be off
I'll see you all in a couple of days
take care
bye TJ BC and Elena I know you'll be in the ether somewhere
Bye Mayo! you be good!!
see you SS ! you be good too!
have a great 4th of July everyone who celebrates it
♥xx♥
We have a thing in our town called River of Time, in the Fall, it's sort of a roleplaying historical teachy type thing. There are people who roleplay the parts of the French Canadian settlers around these parts, and the Native Americans, and so on. It's quite educational. They camp out by the river.
Oh, bye Ergo!! Have a good time camping!
Hi Carrie. Bye Ergo, stay safe and have a great time. TJ, yeah. I had a chipped tooth before a few years back, and that required a shot to the lip to numb the pain(It hurts like a bitch) and over a hour and a half of my time to get it fixed, and I feel bad because my brother offered to help pay for it to get fixed again due to my lack of health insurance.
And now, I have to face the needle again :/
bye ergo -- have a great time!
that doesn't sound like fun, bc. :(
carrie, i have friends that jump between the sca and the black powder groups (1700's), seems like fun. re-enactors have a whole different set of standards, makes it a different game altogether. :)
hey carrie
just popped back to say , if I have mobile service TJ I'll text you
but I'm not real hopeful there'll be any
trust Australia to be so big!
bye
Tj, yeah, the re-enactors are kinda hardcore, well, except for the port-a-potties. :) BC, sorry about your tooth, hope it won't be too painful. And Bye again Ergo!
oh cool, ergo! i'll keep my fingers crossed then. :)
it's impressive, though, to see how much they put into being the person they chose, especially when it's one of their ancestors.
that level of committment to persona is a bit hit and miss in the sca. personally, it's what makes it fun for me, but not everyone wants to play that way.
*shrugs*
I like the persona stuff, the kids really eat that up on the field trips. Around here, they take it pretty serious.
we used to do demos as part of our group, and it was easy to see how much the kids liked it -- especially the making felt demonstrations! (barefoot kids tromping on wool in a soapy bucket, donchaknow. *grin*)
i was usually over on the calligraphy table. showing people how to write their names in uncial.
not a whole lot of kids, usually.
Hello
How is everyone?
I'm putting away groceries and drinking a Bud Light Lime. Pretty damn good!
Hiya ALL!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the fuzzy wishes for Hazel. She's been home for a few hours now and she's looking MILES better already. Also, the vet cut her nails for me, so 1-UPS to him!
How is everyone doing this evening? Has anyone actually heard from Entropy? Are they still okay?
-A
Hey Amy
How's tricks?
Heya Amy and Elena! I have heard from Entropy, her boyfriend has acute pancreatitis, which is kinda weird because he's not a drinker, which I thought is what usually causes that. He should be ok after treatment, but now her mom is in the hospital, so more with the sucky.
Hi Amy, how are you? Hi Elena. Thanks Carrie. I'm not afraid of needles, so it shouldn't be too bad.
hey there elena, hi amyranth. :)
i was just getting ready to say my good nights, so i'm glad i at least got to say "hello".
have a good night everyone.
Night TJ!
Hey BC
Carrie please tell her I'm sending along all good thoughts!
Elena, I don't turn no tricks, they turn for me! ;D Better now that Hazel's going to be fine. How's the car?
Carrie, bad luck comes in threes, ya know? I hope everything from here on in is smoother for her.
BC, not bad! Not afraid of needles either huh? I don't mind getting shots, but I hate having blood drawn. Maybe if the tubes were'nt clear... :P
-A
Goodnight Teej!
Good news in the morning, right? Right!
Have a great sleep.
-A
All my best wishes to Entropy, her bf, and her mom. I wish them a speedy recovery
Thanks on her behalf, you guys, I know she appreciates everything. And Amy, glad your kitty is doing better, I think Hazel is such a sweet name.
Actually the car is okay. I was very lucky. Thanks for asking.
Glad Hazel is okay.
What's new BC?
Night TJ CD was mailed this morning. So still wondering about that question?
I have to toddle on off to bed, guys, goodnight.
Goodnight TJ, I hope you'll get good news. Amy, nope. I'm used to them, which is kinda why I'm hoping sometime in the future to get a couple of tattoos. I don't mind getting blood drawn too, but sometimes I don't like when the arm bruises after, usually because the nurse holds it roughly.
Goodnight Carrie!
And Hazel is a sweet name.
Yup. Name.
I call her Witch Hazel, because she's an evil little thing. I gave props to the Vet because I can't cut her nails. Not physically incapable, but she's really good at giving me severe lacerations. And I like my fingers, thanks :P
-A
I love that name Amy...
What does she look like?
Night Carrie
Elena, like a little Witch Princess!
She stinks right now, I think she peed on herself in her crate. PHEW!
-A
Goodnight Carrie. Elena, I was out most of the day getting a haircut, and then I chipped my tooth, but otherwise I'm okay.
*says this 45 mins late*
Yeah, I think it's just about bedtime for everyone, eh BC?
Goodnight Lovelies, enjoy your holiday! I have to go get the OTHER bugger cat away from the bag of insulation. *sigh*
-A
mayo,
why is that poem one of your favorites? what speaks to you in it?
i was just wondering...i like to know the "why" of things. i like knowing the stories behind them.
wondering about things is about all i have energy for tonight. i feel so worn out. it's not just the waiting for the next appointment...or the worry about how to pay for all this...
i didn't expect to have my life completely and utterly turned inside-out by the trip. i mean, i wanted it to, but i hadn't imagined this sort of comprehensive disarray. i am left with no solid ground.
and some of it is good, and welcome, for all that it confuses me. and some of it is not so good -- at least, from the current vantage point.
i do believe this is what needs to happen, perhaps to make room for the life i've been trying to create. but oh, it is exhausting, from my head to my heart. all of it.
i see the surgeon on monday -- my oncologist agreed that that was the best thing to do. hopefully, the biopsy can be scheduled for very soon after that, and it will turn out to be something embarrassingly inconsequential.
but all my little seedling plans have been uprooted.
when will i finally get back to my true path? (if i have one, i'm not even sure of that any more. i'm the rootless one, not my little plans.) i try to trust in that, trust that i'm not alone, that i'm being lead, but sometimes i just can't hang on.
gah. enough of this self-centered ramble. to bed, and maybe i'll get a gentle, restorative dream, one i won't want to wake from, but will, with a soft smile.
that would be lovely, wouldn't it?
and you, mayo. i hope you're well, i truly do. good night to you, and may you get the dream you wish for, too.
Goodnight Amy, sweet dreams. I'm off to bed as well. Goodnight Elena, anyone lurking.
Morning Mayo!
Happy Birthday USA!!
So, in that spirit I bring you some inspirational words from one of the most jingoistic movies ever made:
"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
We're going to live on!
We're going to survive!
Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!"
And why you'd all rather still be English anyway...
Have a fabulous Friday!

The bell tolls at four in the morning.
I stand by the window,
barefoot on the cool floor.
The garden is still dark.
I wait for the mountains and rivers to reclaim their shapes.
There is no light in the deepest hours of the night.
Yet, I know you are there
in the depth of the night,
the immeasurable world of the mind.
You, the known, have been there
ever since the knower has been.
The dawn will come soon,
and you will see
that you and the rosy horizon
are within my two eyes.
It is for me that the horizon is rosy
and the sky blue.
Looking at your image in the clear stream,
you answer the question by your very presence.
Life is humming the song of the non-dual marvel.
I suddenly find myself smiling
in the presence of this immaculate night.
I know because I am here that you are there,
and your being has returned to show itself
in the wonder of tonight's smile.
In the quiet stream,
I swim gently.
The murmur of the water lulls my heart.
A wave serves as a pillow
I look up and see
a white cloud against the blue sky,
the sound of Autumn leaves,
the fragrance of hay-
each one a sign of eternity.
A bright star helps me find my way back to myself.
I know because you are there that I am here.
The stretching arm of cognition
in a lightning flash,
joining together a million eons of distance,
joining together birth and death,
joining together the known and the knower.
In the depth of the night,
as in the immeasurable realm of consciousness,
the garden of life and I
remain each other's objects.
The flower of being is singing the song of emptiness.
The night is still immaculate,
but sounds and images from you
have returned and fill the pure night.
I feel their presence.
By the window, with my bare feet on the cool floor,
I know I am here
for you to be.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Hi :)
That is a horrible, divisive, rude and arrogantly obnoxious video Kassiopeia. Hilarious too! Thanks for the giggle snorts.
Mayo
Happy 4th of July. Got big plans? Gonna have a cookout? Eat hamburgers, hot dogs and watermelon? Then are you gonna top off the day by going to watch a fireworks display? That’s what I pretty much used to do every year except I would be hostess of the party that served the hamburgers and hot dogs. Hours of preparation, pains taking attention to detail, yep that was me. Not anymore. Man, I would stress myself out so much having that yearly party. I do not need any more stress. Besides the girls all get invited to other peoples parties. I’m okay with that. I want a nice, relaxing day. Of course I’m still a kid at heart when it comes to fireworks. Yep, my heart still starts to race when I see the big tents that sell fireworks. Oh hell to be honest I like blowing shit up. I like smoke bombs, and sparklers. Oh and snakes. They leave that nasty black mark on the sidewalk but I don’t care. And the smell? I love it. You would think that having a parachute blow up in my face when I was little would have cured me of this addition. It didn’t. 4th of July is my second favorite holiday. My fireworks are ready and the watermelon is in the fridge chillin’. It’s gonna be a great day.
So as I mentioned before I used to be an antique dealer. I did mention that, didn’t I? One of my larger collections was old postcards. I’ve sold hundreds of them but not the holiday cards. I can’t make myself do that. I love the graphics on these cards. The way you can get such a wonderful glimpse of life as it was. Oh and the reverse side of the card? I’ve spent hours reading peoples thoughts. Life was so different back then. Was it better? Yes and no. Would I have wanted to live back in the early 1900’s? No, I’m quite happy in my own time. Still the chance to get a small peak into the lives of those who lived then is a treat. Anyway I wanted to share with you two of my favorite 4th of July cards. Both are from 1910. However you might notice one delete already from me. That's cause I totally suck tonight at clicky links. Can't do it. Maybe tomorrow night I'll be able to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Sorry, I really did want you to see them.
Have a safe 4th of July. Have a slice of watermelon, and watch the fireworks. Enjoy your life.
Night Mayo

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO THE AMERICANS WHO CELEBRATE IT

and anyone arriving soon.
wendy poor you....i didn't realise you had been so poorly! thats scary so i hope all the test results come back ok.
personally i hate grapefruit!
right i'm sorry i didn't really catch up too well. just hoping that everyone in need of a *hug* today gets a nice warm real one. (hug that is!!)
sorry still 14 yrs old in my head at times!!
*giggles*
love to you all!
Hi FASC!
"hope you all have a lovely time eating too much food and chilling with family!"
Just don't do as I did yesterday and eat 4 whole breaded Camembert with cranberry sauce and then go out for a run on the beach to assuage your guilt, or you'll lose your dinner behind a sand dune! Mmmm...
On the subject of family, my brother has finally left to go on a lads weekend to Riga (Latvian capital) - although it was supposed to be Japan! - and left my poor home in disarray. How tempted was I then, when the HSBC fraud-prevention guy called up, to say, "Oh, he's just gone out, if someone's using his credit card abroad it must have been stolen - cancel it, cancel it!"
Mwuahahahaha!!
Kass xx
nice kass!
don't run on a full stomach!!
How tempted was I then, when the HSBC fraud-prevention guy called up, to say, "Oh, he's just gone out, if someone's using his credit card abroad it must have been stolen - cancel it, cancel it!"
great but very cruel practical joke kass!
but its good to know that they do check whats going on with credit cards though isn't it. when we moved house and borrowed more money on the mortgage to furnish it, i was using my credit card big time to but a new bed and sofa etc and they rang me up to check it was me spending the money. i thought that was pretty cool!!
bad paragraphing!
*slaps own wrist*
Very cruel, but since he dumped his Glastonbury Festival washing on my nice clean floor and clearly expects me to do it, wholly justifiable!
I'm getting really nervous about the Federer-Safin match, even though I know the über-hottie's going to lose. It's that really irrational "should I watch it/I can't watch it/stop-being-stupid-whether-you-watch-it-or-not-has-no-bearing-on-the-result" stomach butterflies-feeling you get whenever England face a penalty shoot-out. Damn, I hate caring about this stuff!
Kass xx
and you will do the washing kass cos you love him!! we are suckers!
stomach butterflies-feeling you get whenever England face a penalty shoot-out. Damn, I hate caring about this stuff!
i know that feeling too well kass! its an exciting yet nauseating feeling!!
hope its a good match!
right gotta go and do stuff!
catch you later blogbelieve!
Morning all!
Hi Mayo!
SS, do I have to break out the ultraviolet light to find you?
Hands up who is ready for the last day of the working week!
Thanks for posting the beautiful poem by Thich Nhat Hanh, Anon.
It's really interesting the way he connects inner peace to world peace*.
For those having a day off today...
Happy Fourth of July!
Elena, go wild!
TJ, That's great an appointment is lined up for Monday. Keeping the good vibes turned up for you =)
Entropy, I hope you're doing okay, and that everyone you love is on the path to recovery.
For RW, who loves the kitties =)
'Night all!
*googled crazy fast like anonymeese used to, to find out who the dude was =)
It's Me
Hello all....Happy 4th!!!!
toujours -- Just a little tidbit from the internet....kind of seemed to fit. I hope all goes well with you.
The Hawk can be associated with higher knowledge, and often means you are not taking the time to listen to yourself or deal with an issue.
One that is coming at you and 'appearing' to get your attention, is sounding more like a totem than a messenger. The totem spirit is your spirit guide. One who is telling you, there is something in your life to which you haven't been honest or are trying to hide from.
You might look at the combination of seeing the animal and reminding yourself of what was happening around you. The hawk is obviously trying to get you to 'listen' to it.
Hi, It's Me!
>_<
*forgot again*
*slaps hand*
Happy Birthday to the maybe MIA anon, that possibly isn't PJ!
Geez, confusing much?
Uh-huh!
'Night.
It's Me
Here are some fireworks for you...

'Morning BB!

Anyways for those American's here, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! =]
Have a great day everyone;

Mayo,
'Morning! Happy 4th! It's already hot and sticky at 9am here. Hot but without the sticky sweet like Def Leppard sings about.
What? Bwah! I'm on a babbling frenzy.
So, if you're in the US, go out and watch some fireworks. Where you're at, unless you are here, has got to have a way better fireworks show. Smoke didn't lie when she said ours lasts about 20 minutes but you have to get there like an hour before and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. Then, when it starts it's all like, Oooooooh!. Then you wait again and wait, and wait. Then, ahhhhhhhhh! Then you wait. And I swear, it's the same fireworks from 1974. But hey, it's our little fireworks show damnit!
For years it was illegal to buy fireworks here in Gee-or-gee-ahhh, but now they are available everywhere. Somehow, I just don't feel like lighting a match to a dollar bill though or perhaps blowing off my arm or putting out an eye.
That would not be good times. Nope, not at all.
So, I think I will just chill out today. (Put all the other bullshit away for one more day, because it's a holiday and you can't get a fucking thing done today anyways.)
Who knows? I might even find a grilled burger, some watermelon, or a cold beer somewheres.
Hope you have a good one!
Love to YOU Always,
S
p.s. More like coca-cola and boiled peanuts!
Wishing you all a Happy 4th of July!
"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is
jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief
that all's right with the world."
- Ada Louise Huxtable
*BOOM*
*CRACK*
*SHOOOOOOO*
*SIZZLE*
*'SPLOSION!*
Happy 4th of July, Mayo, SS, and BlogBelievers!
And Happy Friday, too!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
Oh, how I wish I was in Daytona this weekend. :(
Fireworks, beer on every corner, lots of people having a good time, and.....
VROOOOOOOMVROOOOOOOOMVROOOOOOOMM!!!
There's nothing like seeing fireworks from the middle of Daytona International Speedway. Or from atop one of the coolest hotels in Daytona and see them lit from a barge out in the middle of the Atlantic.
*sigh*
Gooooo TONY! Climb that fence man!
***********************************
Okay, sorry. Morning Mayo! Morning SS! Morning BlogBelieve!
Hope you all have a lovely Friday!
I gotta go cut the grass. And clean the house. And wash clothes. WTF? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY DAY OFF! >_<
Later peeps!
Amy,
When I clicked on Hazel's pic, I almost died.
Hazel's twin sister
That was my Sugar. They look exactly alike! And PH has a kitty just like that, too. :)
Hey guys!
TJ, I think you are entitled to a little rambling, now don't you? ;)
I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry AGAIN. I will be back after breakfast and the birds, as usual. Probably, anyway.
I wanted to say--like I did yesterday--that I miss you guys like crazy and I hope that everyone who celebrates today has a fun time. BBQ's, fireworks or whatever it is you do.
Mayo, you featured in my dream last night and I just remembered when I said "fireworks." It was that you had written a post that referenced something you held in your hand which you had "procured without local sanction" and then "threw and lit the sky in flames" or something effusive and turgid like that. ;D (You should know by now when I'm teasing you; I guess I tease you in my dreams, too.) Then at the end you said you were watching them with one person and, "I wasn't sure if the other was really there or not." We all guessed you had illegally gotten some fireworks but we couldn't figure out the end, because how could someone be there and you still not be sure they were there?
I also had a dream about Obama :D and Raul Julia. :(
And I have yet to write about my fantastic shark dream from the other night, too.
S(S)S, we sure do miss you and hope you're having a great three day weekend. :D
Wow, I can't seem to catch up!
Catch you later guys!
10:07, those are beautiful words about summer; they come from the exact place I know so well when this season comes around. ^_^

One hopes you all the best in your time of need.

Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Present! :)
We've missed you! ^_^
Hello Smoke&Venom.
One is surprised that one is missed. I hope you have been well.
I'm good! Hope you are, too! And yes, you have been missed. Bunches. ^_^
One is feeling 'Jappy' today, one thought of the people here and felt that I lacked in my gifts. One is very sorry.
Present,
Smoke is right! You have been missed. It's great to see you around here.
Thank you from wthin, SDock10.
One has observed for short periods. Maybe one should have visited again sooner.
Present,
Yes, please. Don't stay away so long. You always bring smiles with you and we could always use smiles here in BlogBelieve.
Present,
Thank you for what you do! You do bring so many smiles to this place. I hope you can come back soon and more often. :)
Happy 4th of July
Hello sdock, Present and Smoke
Everyone having a good day?
Thank you for your welcome. One will be back and hopefully more often.
One wishes you all a nice day and a fun hloiday.
Take care.
You, too! Have a good one, Present!
Hi Elena! Have you blown anything up yet? ^_~
Take care, Present!
Hi Elena!
Well, I think I'm gonna go for bit.
Everyone have a great day and stay safe!
Mwah! Mwah!
Bye Present
Yep, been lighting firecrackers this morning. It's such a beautiful day here. Usually on the 4th it's so hot but not this year.
Smoke, I showed that picture to Hazel and she ran upstairs to make catnip pralines. Except now she can't have catnip. :P
Also, Happy Fourth, but please, indulge me and gimme a big ol' YAHOO!
Today is the start of the World Famous Calgary Stampede!
Speaking of fireworks, I go down to the grounds on Sunday, and I'll hopefully be late enough to get some shots of the fireworks from the top of the ferris wheel.
Giddy up Lovelies!
-A
Present, I love that song!
Nice to see you again.
-A
It's hotter than hell down here, Elena. Same as always. Wouldn't be 4th of July in Georgia if it wasn't.
Hiya Amy! My poor Sugar had to be put to sleep last year. I had her since I first got married and I had bought her from the Humane Society. We're thinking she was close to fifteen or sixteen when she died. She was a sweetheart. Never meowed. Only purred. ^_^
Welp, gotta go get started doing shit if I plan on doing nothing later. O_O
See ya! Have a great day everyone!
Smoke, 15-16 is a good age for a cat. Sure beats losing them at 2 years old.
Also, Hazel's original name from the rescue was Smoke. Weird, huh?
She's still registered as Smoke with the city too, because all of her tattoos and tracking devices are in the Adoption agency's name.
-A
Now that is freaky, Amy. O_O
We're all related, you know that right? You ever seen the movie Crash? Where everyone's path has crossed at some point?
That's BlogBelieve. ^_^
Ok, and I'm for real gone now. See ya!
Hello all.
Happy 4th of July for those who celebrate it. Happy Friday for those who don't.
Enjoy fireworks if you are going to see them tonight.
Crappy weather here,so that might be out for us. Keeps fingers crossed.
TouJours and L and everyone who needs warm soothing wishes and thoughts are with you. Laters
Wendy! I missed you again. *leaves plate of choco whipped cream with a sparkler in it*
Have a doog day all.

vrilliant dream Kapunua!! so mayo like!
We're all related, you know that right? You ever seen the movie Crash? Where everyone's path has crossed at some point?
That's BlogBelieve. ^_^
you know that may be true princess!!
hi anyone around. i was just popping in while i had 2 mins to myself.
i am an addict!
*tackles Present even though they are gone*
You presence was missed! Thank you for the song! I ♥ it like whoa.
Hi FASC! Hi Mustard!
I'm taking a break from folding clothes. I hate laundry. >_<
SMOOOOOOKE&Venom20!
I didn't know if anyone was around or not.
Hello!
Oh I missed FASC, Amy and a nice anon. Damn.
Well still have all my fingers so things are going good here. Must say Jake is not impressed with firecrackers. I'v let him in the house so he doesn't have to deal with them.
Stay safe everyone!!!
So K still waiting to hear about that other dream. Really do you write these down? You should keep a journal!
MUUUUUUUSSSSTARRRRDDD!!!!!!!!!
^_^
Well damn. We keep missing each other. Grrr!
Back to folding clothes for a bit.
Hey guys! FASC, thanks, it made me laugh when I woke up!
Elena, I really should write those last few ones down. They were those dreams that were scary and crazy while they were happening, but when I woke up I was like, "That was epic" and I had a good feeling the rest of the day. So hard to explain. And Edward Norton turning into a 80 foot shark, I mean, you can't go wrong. ^_^
Princess and Splash, whatchoo up to today?
me, I finished up with the morning cleanings and actually got out shopping. I decided to stop by my best nursery for some local flowers because I have to make a lei for Auntie Kau'i on Sunday and I wanted to make sure it was a real, authentic Long Island lei. I wanted to get something simple just for color. But they were having a sale and I came home with 4 hollyhocks, some lavender and foxglove. O_o
I also want to mention to everyone that Jesse Helm, a pretty well-known racist and homophobe, died today, on the 4th of July. ^_^ Duuuuuuuude.
Ok, so it is literally like 10,000 billion degrees outside. I just came in from roasting myself. I think I am trying to prepare myself for what the depths of hell are going to feel like.
Surely it can't be as hot as South Georgia in the summertime, right?
I only wish it were hotter here, Solly. It's only about 80 degrees and overcast.
We need a good, long, humid heat wave. Like 100 degrees and 90% humidity. I love that stuff.
It's
sonofabitching
Whaddup?!
Oh man, I have to go for 2001. It add up to three.
Hot in Herre!
Damn you Splash! ;)
Oh, no you didn't!
