Stand.

There are so many things missing, last night
Last week, and now quieted by irreverence
Two feet deep and thick with sickness
We are lost and no longer linger. Still
I can reason your denial in difference
Came upon you for thought, and mine
I must say thrust upon me in shame.
I shut my book to save your eyes.
Who is lost in plain sight can speak
As you have always claimed, in truth.

p.s. with an uncompromised view for any other is...well, it is compromised.

Mayo,

It's crazy, just sayin'. I live for it. I can pull it apart, rebuild it, make it different, make its meaning change, put my twist on it, but it's so hard to get the meaning.

The same song stuck in my head all day, the same tune was hummed over and over, and it was awesome, but the words just aren't there for me.

I don't connect.

Wishing you a lovely Monday and a wonderful night. Later, dude.

Goodnight Martha, SDock, and Smoke!

We enjoyed having you here, too, MJ. Good luck at work tomorrow, I'll send some good vibes in your direction.

Ergo, apparently SS spent most of the day being a playtoy for various children. He is now "bruised". (Check comments around 6pm tonight.)

SS, baby, try an icepack and ibuprofen. Or some Myoflex. Or all three. Or as they used to say, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

I DO have that medical background, you know. :)

When one's returned home on a visit and a senior courtier or someone of the sort comes to call, it would seem that there's gossip and criticism. I don't let this annoy me, since after all I'm not renowned for my modesty and prudence. And anyway, how am I to simply announce that I'm not at home to people who come calling day and night, and send them away again shamefaced? People will come visiting, even if they aren't really very intimate with you.

"Dear me, have you written a poem? I refuse to read it!" he exclaimed, and he flipped it back to me with his fan and fled.

And so it was that this relationship, once so close and mutually supportive, for no real reason began to turn a little sour. Then a letter came from him. "Though things may have gone wrong between us, still I would wish that you remember the loving vows we made, and when we meet out in the world that you woul dlook on me as one who has been your brother."

Anon, these ones definitely didn't come out good.

I've never chilled the dough before in my life actually, does that work?

The method I was taught involves thawing a stick of butter, and creaming it with Brown sugar, white sugar and a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract. It works out really well when the butter is thawed properly, but if it's not, or if it's too soft, the cookies get hard, or flat depending.

Chilling dough prevents spreading.

ergoproxy said...

amy chilling the dough can help if the mix is a soft one.

those bikkies have no flour in them at all?

you can make dough roll it into a roll in greaseproof paper and freeze it, cut it into rounds with out thawing and bake straight from that, it's easy to make double the mix and freeze half

oh hey, get this. amyranth, do you remember earlier today you said you'd bake me a cake and i asked for german chocolate?

tonight when we got back from dinner, my sister surprised me with a birthday cake (candles and all). it was german chocolate.

she didn't even know it was one of my favorites -- when i told her it was, and explained about it being the cake i associate with dad, she was surprised, she had no idea.

and they all sang "happy birthday" to me, i made a wish, all of it.

it actually brought tears to my eyes. so weird.

how are you?

and what is a moolatte?

Amyranth said...

Anon, spreading. Really? I know that I frequently see shortbread cookies made from a chilled dough, but I never thought to ask why.

Ergo, they do have flour in them. The first step is to combine the flour, baking power and salt in one bowl. The second part is creaming the butter and sugars together in the second bowl.

I think that maybe because I spent too much time trying to work the butter and sugar together, it made the cookies hard and crunchy, as opposed to the usual soft and chewy.

They only bake for 10 minutes, usually.

There are also times when you send someone a poem you're rather pleased with, andfail to receive one in reply. Of course there's no more to be done about it.... Even so, you do lose respect for someone who doesn't produce any response to your tasteful seasonal references. It also dampens the spirit when you're leading a heady life in the swim of things and you receive some boring little old fashioned poem that reeks of the longueurs of the writer, whose time weighs heavy on her hands.

toujours said...

a moolatte is coffee and ice cream, blended and thick like a shake, ergo.

All those who really rely on him feel quite devastated. As evening comes, a few among the people who've been packed in together waiting begin to creep stealthily away. Those who have been many years in his service, however, can't bring themselves to leave his side so lightly. It's terribly touching to see them weaving solemnly about as they pace the room, hopefully counting on their fingers the provincial governorships due to come to the end of their term the following year.

Things that prove disillusioning - Nothing in all the world could be worse than a man or woman who turns out to use words vulgarly. I wonder what the strange quality is in a single word that can make it vulgar or tasteful - though of course the person making this judgment isn't necessarily so splendid herself! And if that's the case, how can one judge what's good and what's not?Well, I don't know about others, but I simply go by my own feelings in the matter.

Anonymous said...

It's actually not a bad thing to use vulgar or unseemly words intentionally, knowing them for what they are. What's astonishing is when someone produces a word from their private store without pausing to consider its nature.

Things that give you pleasure -

You've read the first volume of a tale you hadn't come across before, and are longing to go on with it - then you find another volume. The rest of it can sometimes turn out to be disappointing, however.

When a poem that you've composed for some event, or in an exchange of poems, is talked of by everyone and noted down when thy hear it. This hasn't yet happened to me personally, but I can imagine how it would feel.

When someone you don't like meets with misfortune, you're pleased even though you know this is wicked of you.

If an author of a tale uses poor language it makes you quite despair, and you find yourself squirming with embarrassment for the writer as well.

elena I know exactly what you mean - that's the crux of my insomnia.

I would get stuck with like song lyrics and not even songs I liked! Just repetitive, and looking at the clock and thinking "oh it's only 5 mins since I looked, and constantly calculating the time I had to get to sleep, just insane constant thought.
really try getting valerian (check against other medication if your're taking any) but it is really good 2000mg just one tablet about an hour before bed.

A few seconds later..

Hey, do you think that baby ducks have yellow down at birth, or does it turn yellow gradually? You've seen white ducks, right? What if they go white, yellow, white? What about Mallards? What about Wood Ducks? Loons?

I'm going to fess up, I love reading her mags! What's wrong with nice food, clean sheets, a fresh smelling home, and something comfortable to lie on? Nothing. And personally, I like warm, inviting houses :)

Here's the recipe

Banana - blueberry cornmeal muffins

vegetable oil cooking spray

1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup plus 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup low fat buttermilk
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 1/2 teaspoons of granulating sugar

1. Preheat oven to 375. Line a standard 12 cup muffin tin with paper liners. Coat liners with cooking spray

2. Whisk together cornmeal, baking powder, soda, salt and 1 cup flour. In a large bowl mix bananas, buttermilk, honey, lemon juice, egg and vanilla. Fold cornmeal mixture into this, until combined. Toss blueberries into batter and lightly fold.

3. Spoon batter into tin, and fill to brim. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 30 minutes. Voila!

Mayo

I saw in the comment L left with my goodnight last night that she promised I’d do a double shot of Elena’s goodnight tonight. Don’t worry Hun, it ain’t gonna happen. I don’t think anyone in their right mind could take a double shot of Elena’s nonsense. So tonight a short ramble, as I can’t gather my thoughts. I’m sitting here listening to the rain and thinking. I truly wish I could just listen to the rain. The thoughts are troublesome. They won’t leave me alone.

Ah, but the sound of the rain. It’s beautiful. I’ve left the window open knowing full well that raindrops are seeping in but still……I can’t shut out the sound or smell of the rain. It’s cleansing. I need that so much.

So since I have no words to offer you that will make sense I want to share a poem I read today. Something about it touched me. The author is Derek Walcott.

Love after Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you.

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel you own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Night Mayo

mayo,

your place is really creepy at night. and the thunder and lightning really don't help matters much, either. (yeah, it's storming here, too.)

but i had a lovely day here. i didn't intend to spend the day on the blog, but i had fun doing so.

so, it was a good birthday.

and hearing the story of my birth...

well, i've heard it before, but not with as many details as tonight. it's an amazing thing, to know how your family felt just before you arrived, to know you were greeted with happy tears.

mayo, do you know your story? is that something that guys get told, or is that a mother-daughter thing? i'll never understand that story the way my sisters do, with memories of their own pregnancies, but still, it's a curiously grounding thing, to have that story in one's possession.

to know that there was a time before, to know how you were greeted. and for me, to know that i was greeted, that i made it. i almost didn't -- cord around my neck. (maybe that explains some things -- that momentary lack of oxygen to my brain...*grin*)

it's a story that gives you an appreciation for a very simple fact: i am alive. i exist.

today i made wishes.

tonight i will give thanks.

another threshold crossed safely, and crossed well. a new year in front of me, and oh, how good this last one has been, with so many gifts, so many changes.

mayo, my friend, thank you for your part in it. you might never truly understand how important you are to me, but believe this: i owe you so much.

i will do my best to honor that debt.

good night, mayo.

sleep tight.

hey mayo how are you? Did you notice me missing at all? lol I really don't expect you to, and I did say I'd be away for the weekend. So I had a really good time, the bullriding show , Troy Dunn's PPBr Bullriding Internationsal Challenge to be specific was really good, a very entertaining night and not too expensive. Also great was seeing my 91 yo grnandmother and my aunt and uncle and cousin, and deciding to stay an extra day , when you're a biit tired, staying by the beach and with good company, wasn't hard. I must admit though I was a bit concerned about catching up with TJ for her birthday, and I really missed hearing from everyone for a couple of days. Funny how it's sort of part of my life now.
So I had a great weekend but I'm happy to be home too :)
so wishing gratefulness, appreciation, humility and wisdom to you and yours much love EP xx

MEMORIAL DAY
By: Del Abe Jones

A time for picnics, time off work -
Vacations and the "Indy" -
A holiday, too often times
We forget what, it should be.

A time to pay respect to those
Who rallied to the battle cry -
Who gave their lives for liberty -
Those freedoms for you and I.

Such a waste of brave young souls -
Some still struggling through their youth
Who faced and fell willingly
Before wartimes' awful truth.

So as we share this holiday
With our friends or family -
Take a moment to give thanks to
Those who died so we'd stay free.

Let us strive for world peace -
For the end of greed and hate -
For next time, after "the war"
It just may be too damned late.

Because sometimes, we all need a little reminding.

Mayo and BlogBeleive,

Have a great day!

Love ya'll!

I am incredibly bad. I took complete advantage of this day and slept in way too long. But, it was a great sleep!

It's days like today that I don't really know what to do or what to say. It makes me feel so small and insignificant and really out of place at times.

What do you say? "Thank you?" And how do you make it audible and sound as sincere as you feel on the inside? "Thank you" just doesn't feel like it should cut it.

But that's all we can say. That's all we can send up to wherever we send our thoughts to. So, I'll do that today, because I am thankful our country is as free as it is, and that we have it so much better than a lot of other countries. I'll say "Thank you."

It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these, time and time again

Additionally, my sincerest apologies for not having already wished Lewis and TJ a wonderful Birthday. I've been a tad preoccupied, but I do hope they were all you had hoped for. And Happy Birthday to L as well. Have a nice day today.

Hi Elena, Mustard, Sdock!

Sdock: Yes, we do often forget the meaning(s) behind the
holiday(s). Thank you for posting the poem to remind us all.

Mustard: You are correct. A mere 'thank you' does not seem to be enough, does it. But, I have no doubt, the 'thank yous' are very much appreciated! And HUGS!

Elena: Where have you been, woman?
How's Jake? Did you get the pictures I sent? Sandy Ann wants to know what Jake thinks of her.

Now, where is this TEXAS sized cookie cake?

I heart Texas AND cookies!

Speaking of TEXAS, you all have the details for OZZFEST 2008, correct?

What's that? NO? Some of you don't have the details????
Well, we simply can not have that!

The lineup for the 2008 Ozzfest has been announced. The tour won’t be its original across the country round of shows this year though. Instead, the tour will be a one stop show in Dallas, TX on August 9th.
The show will be headlined by Ozzy Osbourne and co-headlined by Metallica.

Main stage lineup:

Serj Tankian (System of a Down)
Hellyeah!!!!!!
APOCALYTPICA!!!!!
Jonathan Davis (Korn)
Cavalera Conspiracy
Shadows Fall
In This Moment

Also scheduled on the main stage is a special all-star tribute to slain Pantera guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott.

Second stage acts include Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. The Texas (third) stage—“an homage to the “many great metal bands that come from Texas,” says Sharon Osbourne–features The Sword, Drowning Pool and Rigor Mortis.

*happy happy happy dance*

T'is going to be another GREAT show!

Kapunua, I caught up and read what happened yesterday with all the anons. I hope you don't trust all of them. Could one of them know you in real life? Could it be someone from where you used to work. Just think about that and be safe. Ok now I have to say something to you. I thought you were annoying for a while. I thought you talked too much and wrote too much poetry and hogged Mayo all the time. I know I'm not the only one. But then things started to change and I started to see you differently. One thing that changed it was when you lost your job. Most people would have whined and felt sorry for themselves and probably been depressed. But you, you picked yourself up still wearing a smile and decided to move on. I realized that's why alot of people dislike you, you are what so many people hate. You are an optimist. When people try to destroy you and you smile at them, they hate that even more. But I found respect in that. A woman never knows how strong she is until she gets into hot water. Then Mayo. I thought you were annoying to him. It annoyed me too. But now I see that you just cared for him and thought of him as a friend. Which is no different from anyone else here. When he had nothing nice or supportive to say to you after you lost your job all of a sudden I just felt bad. I could see you felt let down. Out in the cold. And I felt bad. I was never one of the really mean vultures, I just used to quietly be bothered by you. But I have grown respect for you since then and I just want to say keep on trucking and may all your dreams come true. You deserve better. Ok, out.

Anonymous said...

Wow that was long. Sorry.

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass

And so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

This tune is so freakin' catchy, I swear.

Mayo doesn't give a crap about Kapunua. No wonder she felt let down when he just ignored the damage the mean anons caused her and looked the other way.

Anonymous said...

It amazes me when people think that Mayo could hate Kapunua or he stopped talking to her. I didn't see that. I've been watching since around November. She has always been The Protagonist. he has kept talking to her and sent riddles to her. This post could even be to her. He was "pleased" when she got "sharp". Miranth asked what Keiser Soze was about. Just like with so many other riddles that was to Kapunua. I know that was a long time ago but he never stopped talking to her. Sure he used to talk more openly but did anyone ever stop to think that the anons who were saying he hated her, were making it awkward for him to address her by name... like he used to. I see awkwardness but I just don't see the hate.

He said it, but he didn't do shit.

Anonymous said...

I disagree anon at 11:53. I think the anons just made it too awkward and maybe he was afraid she'd be targeted worse if he talked to her the way he always used to.

It has become harder for everyone to speak in here lately. Seems someone is always picking on someone else or being targeted. Sometimes it's just easier to keep your mouth shut and not say anything at all.

And that saddens me, because we all used to have so much to say. Not only to Mayo, but to each other.

What? How would that make it awkward for him? Anons kept saying SS hated her as well, but it didn't stop him talking to her and addressing her by name. He even joked about it! This is Mayo's blog and he can do whatever the hell he likes, if he wanted to talk to her, he would. There is no awkwardness, if he wanted to shut up the bitchy anons all he has to do is talk to her but he won't. I'm sure he isn't bothered what the bitchy anons think about him so he's obviously ignoring her through choice. Leave him alone.
