What the fuck happened last night? I have to agree with Kapunua. We all come to this blog for different reasons. Day to day, our moods change, the people visiting change, the conversations shift and turn. We come in here we cuss, we throw fits, we vent, we love, we cry, we tell stories, we play, we have parties, we play kickball, we voice concern, we get angry, we share pics, we write poetry, but most of all, we come here to connect to each other. Kapunua, you are beautiful. Your words are beautiful. It fucking makes me mad as hell that someone would go out of their way to try and ruin your good time last night. It was completely uncalled for.
Nobody here should be treated that way. It's rude and disrespectful. Look, there are 50 or so people in and out of here regularly. We're not all going to like each other all the time, but we can respect and be considerate to each other's feelings. When people leave here and they are mad or upset or possibly hurt, that's just wrong.
Words have power. The power to comfort, the power to heal, the power to change, but they can also inflict terrible damage. Watch how casually you throw them around.
Kapunua, you are one of my oldest and dearest friends here. I know you're strong and this shit probably rolled right off you, but I wanted you to know that I would have stood up for you last night just like I'm doing now.

I don't know which one of you said this last night, but here it is.
She did share it. She has shared her talent with a lot of people on this blog including myself. I proudly printed it out and hung it on my wall, because to this day, that's among the greatest gifts I've received. Take that for what it's worth.
I'll state it again even though others have already touched on it. What happened last night was cool. I didn't understand it, but that's my problem, not anyone else's. I should probably pick up a literature book now and again. I think the thought of conversing in poetry and short prose is pretty impressive. Now, if I could just understand it ;)

Wow, okay. Had no idea that doing poetry--which I've done countless times before, anyone remember all the many poetry challenges?--was going to cause such a stir.
First of all, was that you last night, Calaf, doing poetry with me?
Anyway I just want all to know, I did not write all of those poems. I gave credit for the ones I didn't write where I knew the author. Some of the poems were actually anonymous. I was doing most of the literary quotes and I was, of course as everyone knows, Weaver Girl.
I'm assuming I'm "brown eyed gal?" Anon, I appreciate your sentiments, truly. My eyes are more green than brown, but I appreciate it. Thank you. :D

Hello PP! I just want to make clear that I was "Polly and Lucy" and all I was doing was randomly quoting some of my favorite plays and stories that were lying around. Paul's voice, his acoustic guitar, and a tapping noise. The tapping wasn't a foot or metronome - the Master was intentionally scratched. If you listen closely you will notice that is sounds like a scratch on a record. Birds were dubbed in later.

I watched the Grammys and was floored by The Beatles tribute that was done. The young man that sang "Let It Be" for the movie, uh, can't remember the name of it now. Anyway, he sang it at the Grammys and was phenomenal.

Katherine, I do understand where you're coming from, and totally, yeah, your own mojo comes first. I do hope you decide to keep posting here though. You're a joy to read. ^_^
o today was my aunt's memorial and it was very nice, mellow, casual and relaxed. This whole family isn't much for the church, wake, funeral thing. We just do memorials at houses and this was at my Uncle's house. (The aunt and uncle in question are Boychild's grandparents.) I went into it thinking, Cool, okay, we weren't super close. ANd then when I saw the pictures of her all of a sudden I really missed her. She had always been nice to me.
The house was crowded but I hung with the usual crowd: my two cousins and their kids. Celia and I, as ever going back through all our old in jokes in that way that you never really think you're going to do when you're kids.
On the way home I needed to go to the store for some ice cream because Joaquin's new movie is out on DVD. So I'm at the grocery store with my single pint of Haagen Dazs and behind me on line is this teeny tiny little old lady, she had to be about five feet even, with amazing blue-green eyes and a little beret that matched her scarf. She had nothing more than her own solitary pint of ice cream. I looked at it, and at her and said, "You too, huh?"
She laughed and said, "Well, it's Saturday. Let's compare. What's your drug of choice?"
I had pomegranate chocolate chip and she had Dove chocolate raspberry. Then the guy behind her got in on the conversation because he had assumed that we were together and she said "No, just two of a kind on a Saturday afternoon."
It was too cute. I think that's the kind of old person I want to be.
Oh, and Joaquin's new movie, We Own The Night? Yeah, it looks good and all, but reading the synopsis on the back made me go O_o . Two brothers, one becomes law enforcement and the other owns a nightclub and runs a crime ring? I could only wonder if at some point someone was going to call Joaquin a fargin corksucker and tell him that his bells were gonna end up in a sling. Seriously, you guys.
Well, I might as well settle in for the night. Yay, saturday!
