On any given day.

You are all seen.

I am here. Not always present, but I am here. I feel each of you even as I move about my world. I presume we have this in common.

This space is mine in confidence, without interruption, without interception, and without edit.

I carry a bit of debt to you that I have not shared. You have reached me in ways you will never know.

You have helped.

p.s. thank you.

Kapunua,

I just bought LHM some candy cigarettes last week. He thought they were the coolest thing. He even pulled one out of his pocket at church. O_O

J,

New crayons are the bestest thing! There's nothing like it. I would always be reluctant to use them cuz then they wouldn't be new anymore.

It even came with the Macaroni and Cheese colored crayon that the 12 and 24 count kids didn't have and that shit was amazing.

The Ouija Board was a family favorite. My parents, aunts, uncles, brother, and older cousins would play it at parties. Once we took it to what used to be a family-owned haunted mansion in upstate NY (it really was haunted, it really was a mansion; you could get these things in the early 80's for ridiculously low prices.)

Well the Ouija board was such a staple that my cousins and friends and I didn't give it too much of our time until we hit around 14 or so.

Then we got really involved in it.

So one night we were playing with it, and if you've ever played it, you know how it goes. "Oh! It moved!" '"Quit it, jerk, that was you!" "IT WAS NOT ME! I DIDN'T MOVE IT!" "Okay, okay, never mind. Ask again." ".... OH MY GOD!!!" Yeah, like that. After a few hours, you actually start to really zone on it and the planchett starts to fly. Whether or not you're doing it yourself is entirely up for debate. Could be something that just taps into your semi-hypnotized group consciousness, right?

We got a "spirit" that called itself Strut. That, he said, was his nickname when he was a gangster in the 20's. Strut told us all manner of things. he told us about the wife and kids he'd had. He'd told us about how he'd been thrown off of a roof. (This was before The Untouchables, mind you.) Every night, story after story. Strut was sort of like our Mayo back then; we were addicted to talking to him. Strut told us things that were going to happen to us in school the next day. Of course, whether or not we subconsciously expected those things to happen or even made them happen is also up for debate.

We were talking to "him" one night while the playoffs were on and Strut said, "GIRLS WATCH...HOME RUN" We turned to the television in time to see one of the Mets hit a home run.

Right. Like that.

Then one night I had a dream that Strut came in and said goodbye. He tipped his hat to me (hence my slight obsession with what I consider to be an utterly charming formality,) and said it was time to go. I woke up crying.

The next day when I saw Chrissie, she started crying. She said, "Did you see Strut leave last night?"

And of course we were never able to contact him again.

Bear in mind that Chrissie and I have always been very close and have always read each other's minds and had similar dreams. And we were always both a little prescient (recall my grandmother and the plane crash story.)

So whether or not "Strut" was just our overactive and connected consciousnesses at work or was, well, Strut, is also up for debat. Not my debate, though, because I guess I'll never know.

A little like this place, come to that. O_o

MissTottenham said...

I have heard that with an ouija board, you have to be careful what you ask.

You shouldn't ask is there anyone there cos then you are inviting in any old spirit who could cause trouble.

But if you ask is there anyone here with us then you are talking to the spirits that belong in that place already and that is better.

I dunno how it works but that's what I've heard.

Hi everyone =] Looks like there's a much better vibe in here than last night. Those anons got pretty ugly.

K, that Ouiga board story was pretty cool. My mom was always too afraid of them after she saw the Exorcist so I was never allowed to have one.

The toys I had as a kid: Barbies (way more than any child should be allowed to have, lol)but the worst torture I ever did to them was cut their hair, which always got me in trouble. I also had Care Bears, My Little Ponies, The Shirt Tail gang, and 8 Cabbage Patch dolls (my mom and grandma went nuts going after those dolls. My mom almost got in a fist fight over the first one, true story.)

My first concert was Bon Jovi/Skid Row in 1989. Which coincidentally was also my mom's first concert. Ever since, she has compared every band to Bon Jovi and they always come up short in her eyes.

Mayo,

How are you? I hope you are happy. I hope you feel loved. I hope you are well. Me? Blah. My Saturday was exactly what I have come to expect. It's not even worth spilling all the fucked up shit. Now to top it all off, I have an allergy headache or something.

Mayo, did you ever have anyone in your life that didn't get you? You thought they did. You tried so hard to make them, but no matter what you did it was never enough? Did you ever offer your body, heart and soul to someone only to have them dismiss it as nothing special? Constantly drilled in your head that you are insignificant. That you are replaceable. They push you so hard trying to make you walk away. And you know that if you did, they wouldn't even try to stop you. You would turn back one last time just to see if they were watching you walk and all you would see would be their back. And they never will turn their head to look over their shoulder...

That's the part that hurts the most.

Mayo, people will come and go in your life, but I hope you never let someone special walk away from you for the sake of foolish pride.

Pride won't keep you warm at night when you're feeling cold and lonely.

Love to YOU Always,
S

Good Evening Mayonaise; and fellow bloggers

Mayo, it feels like I haven't been addressing you much lately. How are you buddy? Have you had a good week? I sure hope yours was better than mine. Now, let's take a step back from BlogBelieve, and pretend that it's just you and me here. Talking. One on one. No distractions.

This past week, I've kinda dealt with some... life-altering events. These events may have happened for the better, or for the worst. It's waay too soon to tell. Other than my friends death, I had to deal with other.. ordeals. Ones that I have not shared with you or anyone else on the blogs. I don't know why I can't bring myself to open up just a teensy more. Maybe if I did, it would help you (all) understand me better. Honestly, some days, I feel like I'm trying to get a point across about who I am as a person, and no one gets it. I find that I don't try hard enough. Maybe, just maybe, I could tell you a little more about me. Not Paperheartxx, or 007, but as me, Jocelyn.

1.) I am overly independent. I don't enjoy it too much when I have to do things with other people. I need my alone time. If I'm listening to music or just enjoying time by myself, I would highly suggest you leave me alone.

2.) I'm the type of girl who likes to keep to herself, whose afraid to let others in. Maybe, I want to let others in, but I have to kind of pick-and-choose. Honestly, it depends on the circumstances.

3.) My motto is "Live for the moment". I'm a huge risk taker. It kind of contradicts my huge fear of death. If you asked me to go sky-diving, I will. You only live once, so why not?

4.) I am a major procrastinator. I'll start something and leave it till 10 seconds before the deadline to finish. It's a bad habit of mine, to leave things off to the last minute. Really, I'm one of the most NOT put together people ever.

5.) There are days when I feel unbelievably fake! Honestly. Whenever people on here tell me I'm really put together or mature and what-not, I'm thinking to myself "Where are they getting this from?". So, I'll just accept this "compliment", and kind of not know what to say. I also feel fake when I tell people I'm happy when I'm not. Why can't I just tell others how I feel? Honestly. I'm not as tough as I seem!

What about you Mayonaise? Is there anything that you would like to share, that will help us get to know you more? I'm not asking anything of you, so please, don't take this as a desperate cry for "Lord Mayo" to open up. Just friendly conversation. =]

Anyways; that's my long ass post that took me quite some time to post. Let's just hope that I actually click the "Publish Your Comment" button.

The only BCR album I have is a greatest hits one, EP.

Have you noticed how BCR and MCR are only one letter away from each other, but miles apart in everything else?

Hey RW! lol. Thanks.

6.) I HATE my name! It was either Jocelyn, or Janessa. My dad was obsessed with Jocelyn, my mom loved Janessa. Why the hell couldn't she argue better?!

Hey Martha. =]
Thanks sweetie. It's hard to deal with it, but my friends and I made a deal to stick together, and we'll be fine:)

I. THE BURIAL OF THE DEAD

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering 5
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers.

They're both nice names :)

Paperheart, I think you have a lovely name.

BC, I can top the Backstreet Boys concert, I have seen 'Nsync and Ricky Martin *really hangs head in shame* And in either 90 or 91 I saw NKOTB 2 nights in a row.

hello PH *hug*
that was very honest

and the fact you can verbalise those things about yourself do point to a maturity, plus what you said - isn't just you, I do so much (except the sky diving)

Haha. Once, I told a guy my name was Bertha. He said it was a nice name, and asked for my number. I was nice enough to give him my old cell-phone number. Please to all guys reading this, DO NOT HIT ON 15 YEAR OLD GIRLS AT WORK!

Jocelyn is a beautiful name!

Random fact: My parents call me "Jude." And my Mom gave me the Hey Jude/Revolution 45 when I was wee. That was her song, and then it was my song. ^_^

grasshopper, are you feeling okay? I mean, for real?

Anon, I guess many people hates the month of April don't they?

Do you have the "Wouldn't You Like it?" album - love how Woody's top pants button is sexily undone (NOT)

Summer surprised us, coming over the Starnbergersee
With a shower of rain; we stopped in the colonnade,
And went on in sunlight, into the Hofgarten,
And drank coffee, and talked for an hour.
Bin gar keine Russin, stamm' aus Litauen, echt deutsch.
And when we were children, staying at the archduke's,
My cousin's, he took me out on a sled,
And I was frightened. He said, Marie,
Marie, hold on tight. And down we went.
In the mountains, there you feel free.

I read, much of the night, and go south in the winter.

Kate, you seen NKOTB? Oh wow. I remember they had their own cartoon show on ABC. My sympathies goes out to you for seeing Ricky Martin lol

JocelynHolly said...

BC, it's alright. I've learned to deal with it. I'm deciding some on some lovely stage names derived from my name for when I become famous. (kidding)

FS, *straightens wifey up*
I love you just the way you are. You do not need to change for anyone.

Ergo, *huuug* I'm a little weary on the sky-diving part. My brother went for his sixteenth birthday six years ago, so I'm thinking I want to do it this year on my birthday as well. =]

Well, I'm going to go soak in a bubble bath. Be back on later, perhaps. If not, have a great night everyone! :D

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. Only
There is shadow under this red rock,
(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

I was almost either Miranda Lynn or Bettina Louise. Funny story though, my mom bought me a cabbage patch doll named Bettina Louise *insert Twilight Zone theme*

fimble,
oh kate i will beat that, i have seen westlife 3 times and i would watch them again
Actually when I heard that NKOTB were doing a reunion, my first thought was "I have to go see them." =]

Frisch weht der Wind
Der Heimat zu.
Mein Irisch Kind,
Wo weilest du?

'You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
'They called me the hyacinth girl.'
—Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.
Od' und leer das Meer.

RW, enjoy your bath! *hug*

FS, lol. You never cease to amaze me!
My sister is fine. She really really wants the baby out of her! I believe it's 4-5 more days until her due date. I'm pretty sure that she convinced herself that it's staying up there forever! I must say, she's soo moody, and hormonal, it scares me! Not with me though, her boyfriend, part two of this 'bun in the oven'. The basement is doing me great! My parents got me a new bed, so I'm sleeping much better.

Now tell me Fimble, how are things going in your life right now?

Anonymous said...

I'm glad to hear that grasshopper. Kate, you heard about the reunion? I read that there;s supposed to be some kind of announcement on their website soon.

Over 2000 comments. Fuck.

Ummm, "I just bought LHM some candy cigarettes last week."...Princess, they banded those here a long time ago. Well, no so much 'banded' but no longer sold.

They are pure sugar and so very good. I remember the ones that were gum and blew a puff of sugar. Silly.

I read talk of crayons...'burnt sienna'.... awesome color. I love crayons. Coloring books ruled my world when I was little.

That's as far as I got tonight. I have not ventured back to the 'older, oldest'....
