The necessary words seem to escape me when I need them most.
As I sit here in this quiet place, I find it difficult to express the entirety of my emotions. I fear that no matter what I write, you will not fully comprehend the impact your thoughtfulness has had on my heart. Could it be that the words escape me? Or is it that the act itself is indescribable? Nevertheless, please accept my humble attempt at expressing gratitude.
You overwhelm me, yet again. Your generosity has renewed my spirit. A gift I will treasure indefinitely.
A kind gesture made its way to my heart. A collection of thoughts, images, photographs, sculptures, paintings, drawings, stories, dirty stories, videos, memories, inspirations, songs, dances, a trip around the world, a mansion, a hand, recipes, poems, puzzles, riddles, and rhymes...they are all amazing. I will spend time admiring each gift, removing them from their boxes, and finding just the right place to keep them.
Soon my gratitude will transcend the buzz, and eventually, I believe you will each hear me. You always do.
Thank you. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

hey guys! Loot that I've gotten so far: Well my cousins bought me a diaper bag! Today has shown us a variety of emotions, and reactions, to a variety of situations. As we've said before, tempers run high, and sometimes short, at this busy time of year.
I would like to say that, in the spirit of the season and the source of it all, despite the tense words and not-always-charitable feelings, I love each and every one of you.
This month in particular has been supremely heinous. Illnesses, deaths, crumbling relationships, disagreements, anxiety, poverty, the list continues. And we've seen turmoil within our own ranks.
Something that L and I say to each other, when either one of our families gets crazy on us:
"If we turn on each other, then who do we have?"
That may not exactly be the case here, you all may have others that you can turn to when it gets rough.
But, if WE turn on each other, who will commiserate with us? Most people we talk with outside the blogs think we're, well, a little weird for being so caught up in "just a blog".
WE ARE NOT JUST A BLOG.
We are a Family.
Mayo gave us confirmation of that this very morning.

are you having a lovely christmas eve? is it a special night for you?
strangely enough, given that it hasn't been a holiday of mine for years, i still love this night. it's still magical for me. tonight's the night i actually feel the deep quiet of a winter's night -- what i ought to be celebrating properly at the solstice.
i'm by myself this year, just like last, but i find myself thinking about all the times i went out with my family to look at lights, about how christmas morning was the one time in the year that my little sister and i played together peaceably and voluntarily (waiting for the parents to wake up *grin*), about my dad pretending to sleep in just so we could go torture him awake.
i'm remembering sitting and looking at the lights on the tree when everyone else was asleep, remembering long-distance phone calls to my grandparents in the afternoon.
and tomorrow, i'll wake up without any rush, and i'll make coffee, and pull out the gifts that my family has sent. i'll sit on my living room floor and open them. my cat will play with the paper and the bows, and get completely high on all her new catnip toys. i'll be alone, but i'll be remembering opening up gifts as a kid, taking turns (yeah, we were one of those families) and learning to enjoy watching someone open a gift i had given as much as i enjoyed opening the ones i received.
such a crowded day, even when you're alone. the gates between times seem to open, and memories flow easily. it's a sad one, too, because it's a quieter day than those in my memories, but the magic is still there. that special feeling hasn't gone away.
well, that's my christmas. like i said, it's dificult to hold the memories back! mayo, i hope your own christmas memories are kind companions, and i hope the new ones you're making are sparkling and warm.

Well Christmas is coming to a close here.
We had a lovely day with family despite the 3 or so inches of rain!
It was nice and cool rather than sweltering and the kids spalshed about in water and mud.

I'm going to the 'rents' where most of my favorite people will be (except my SB, I miss that boy like crazy but will see him tomorrow when we go to pick up THE GODSON form the airport. ^_^ ) But I will be peeking in now and then. I don't think anyone will get there till afternoon anyway, so I'll prolly be around here and there once in a while.
The last two nights before going to bed, I've felt Trisky lean against my leg like she always used to do. I put my hand down (she was the perfect height for scratching by just straightening your arm,) and think abotu rubbing her smooth, dainty little dome head, her silky back to the sparse hair on her skinny tail, to the coarse hair or the white tip of her tail. Then, oddly, the other two dogs wait a moment before going into the bedroom, like they're letting her pass. Last night Sano actually turned and looked past the door. "Hey...is that you?"
This morning Havoc woke me up with his, uhh, unique crow call which he did nonstop for two hours. CAN YOU PIERCE THE VEIL AFTER TEN PLEASE. THANK YOU. Then the two dummies pawed at the covers and wouldn't quit until I got out of bed.
"Kohaku-chan," I said, "puppy, it's Crimbo!"

I took the dogs out, and while I was out there I got their stockings out of the shed. I had one for Trisky, too. I couldn't look at it, so I left it in the Target bag and threw it away. Wasteful, totally, but it was hers and no one else gets to have it.

Mayo, I hope you get some gadgets today. Aren't gadgets the best? And eat some chocolate. I hope someone gets you Lindt or Ghirardelli, dark chocolate only. Something quality and fair trade. And drink some eggnog. Do you like eggnog? Man, I love it. Just the cheap kind you get at King Kullen, that's the best. (Errr, King Kullen might only be an east coast tri-state thing, I'm not sure. If you're on the East Coast, do you still have A&P somewhere? We used to have those out here, but not since the 80's I think.)
SS, if you have waited till today to look under the tree, I commend your restraint. ^_^ Well, it's not that exciting really, our gifts, but you know there's a world of love under there for you, BB. If you seriously, seriously make time to look under that tree today, SS? I can't tell you the honor, that you would think of us on this day. If you can't, and you can't stop by, hello, that is perfectly cool. Most people aren't even at home today. ^_^ We know you'll be around sometime, whenever you can. That alone is enough. :D

My Christmas is good so far Cupcake!
The presents were great! I got my electric guitar, and right now my dad is playing with it. &I got an MCR t-shirt, and an MCR calender, and The Used CD, movies, clothes, make-up, new hair straightener, and blow dryer, and a scarf, and some other stuff.
How's your Christmas going?? =]
Ohh and I can't forget the alcohol filled chocolates that my mom got me! I really wanted them, so she actually got them for me!
Mine ended! lol it is now almost 5am, the day after Xmas, but I got a hair straightener too! and other cool stuff.
lol Every food mum made had alcohol in! XD

So I got some really cool stuff so far! The most AWESOME sparkly spider necklace, a book I wanted, some bookmarks, some stuff for the house, this is of course not to mention the Blackberry and Sony Cybershot my parents already got me like two months ago. ^_^ ANd best of all, two Engrish.com shirts! My Mom has a distorted image of mye and buys clothes in size "waifish" but hell, I wear 'em anyway, with thermals underneath. ^_^
I don't know if it's funny or pathetic, but the biggest part of the morning is giving the dogs their gifts and watching them get all excited and open them. And then fight over them. Havoc got his gift, which is a shiny perch with shiny toys on it, but so far he is afraid to approach it.
I got my Mom these really cool glass vases and bowls, with some decorative flowers in them and stuff like that. And I got my Dad these Laurel and Hardy policeman figurines, because he loves Laurel and Hardy and he is a retired cop. Then I got my Gran the new Harry potter movie and the collector's bookmarks. Gran is a HUGE HP fan.
I'm back for now, and later on my uncle, aunt and cousin (my god[dess]daughter, my Jo-chan,) are coming by. THere we'll have dinner, and I guarantee you my Mom, aunt and I will drink wine until it's hilarious (doesn't take much,) and then have dinner and probably watch a movie or something. Jo-chan is staying over because she's going to the airport with everyone tomorrow. ^_^

Does anyone here remember this Christmas cartoon? It's called "Peace On Earth" or, alternately, "Good Will Towards Men." It's an old MGM one, about squirrels left alive in a post-apocalyptic world on Christmas. The grandfather squirrel tells the little squirrels something about "good will to men" and the squirrels ask "What are men?" And then the grandfather squirrel goes into what "man" was and how it ended.
If you haven't seen the end I won't give it away, but it still gives me the all-overs to this day when I watch it.

I just finished making my cranberry sauce, only 2 more hours until turkey!
I got the most gorgeous blanket from my boyfriend for christmas this year, it's just big enough to cover two people, but not big enough to go on the bed. The cats like it too :P
I didn't get to the Post Office in time to get my box from home, so those presents all have to wait until after Boxing Day.

My day was both joyful (because I spent it with loved ones) and sorrowful (because my sister, b in law, niece and nephew lost their doggie, Kiska, early Christmas morning). She was their 'guardian' and my doggie niece. We'll all miss her.
When I saw her last night at the Christmas Eve party, I knew she would not make it through the night (try getting in touch with a vet on Christmas Eve).......the poor girl was breathing so heavy ......
And, sure enough, at 1:30 a.m, she crossed The Rainbow Bridge

But, between all the tears today we did manage to get a few smiles and even some laughs -- and we had some great grub!

christmas is done with, and i have to say i'm glad. i'd rather look forward to new's year eve and the fresh start that comes with it.
but i discovered i received a secret gift this year.
you see, i hadn't drawn or done anything arty for a very long time. i've been focussing all my creative energy on writing (or, to be more accurate -- talking about writing with my writing buddy. *yeahyeahiknow,notreallywriting*)
but the idea to do that leonard & fred drawing came to me one night (something martha said, actually), and then when the gift blog was suggested, i knew it was the perfect thing.
when i sat down to start drawing, i was so nervous. would i even remember how to do this? and zombies? what the hell? i had never drawn a zombie before.
but i got into it. it was so incredible. it felt so goddamn good. that drawing...i look at it and i'm so proud, because it's a part of me i neglected, a part of me, quite honestly, i haven't valued. and yet, it lives within me still, and is shiny and bright and...
it's like finding out my arm wasn't amputated after all.
and going out and taking the photographs for you, and writing that poem for you -- more of that delicious creative activity, all in one week. intoxicating. enlivening.
my gift, discovered through the process of making gifts for others, was simply, myself. my whole self.
how did i ever think i could pick and choose what aspects of my soul were the usable ones, or the good ones?
i'm so ready for 2008. i've got some new toys to try out.
