Eyes stitched shut for years without warning.

A faucet of truth springs forth where you least expect it. I have found the necessary tools to cease the flow…or perhaps, encourage the release. An abstract combination of malevolence and transgression has enabled the hand forward, the torque profitable. The leak expired. Please, allow my waves the privilege to crash upon your waders. I have dug in, rooted in the perversity, entrenched in the limitations, and bruised by the morality.

Truth be told, and if it were, doubt would still slither its' way into your supposition. Torch carrying is a responsibility undertaken with determination. The challenge is to remain steadfast and true. This is not always an achievable task. Perceptions often refute validation, but a ripened integrity allows balance. Disclosure is promising, beautiful; I will not take it back, and neither will you.

Allies and underlings, consider both hostages to mutual enforcement. The brigade advanced, and all fell in as agreed. Should I follow...or jump ship and purchase my validity with wadded up paper airplanes?

p.s. the ghost that floats by here now again find a way.

It matters because he always talked about how much he respects women and he said in an interview how much he respected Kat and wasn't interested in doing other girls. Yeah right. Look at how he was with Eliza BEFORE he broke up with Kat. It seems obvious that he cheats on everyone. And it matters because he's always all Oh I have too much respect for women. Yeah whatever.

Who wins?

Sorry Magic Pie
I read Anon2007's post as a quote from you :)

but I had visions of Ray in my head....
But seriously he is so talented and I think is a big force in the band musically.
Gerard is a good front man, but without the music behind him it wouldn't be the same.

LynZ ,married before? Quick someone search out the marriage/ divorce records....

unless you have no life... Feel free.

Known each other for four years?

Does no one else remember just a few weeks back on SURS when Gerard said "The best thing about 2007 was meeting the person I want to spend my life with"?

Looks like someone can't get their story straight.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I shouldn't care about his personal life but if it gets out there I pay attention. Kat didn't bother me, Eliza did and LYnz I didn't really care about. Its just the ass kissing for a person you know nothing about is getting old.

Anonymous said...

Whoa there Anon^:

How do we as fans know that he cheated on "Kat" with Eliza? Are you another insider?

I've never seen Gerard disrespect a woman. I don't consider breaking up with someone disrespect. Things may have not worked out (obviously) between those two. The only disrespect possible would be if he cheated on "Kat" with Eliza while they were still together, and NO ONE here (I assume this. Correct me if I'm wrong), knows if he did.

^Exactly why I don't care about their PERSONAL lives.

Maybe this was taken out of context? They probably have "known" each other for that long. They did tour together long before PR. They may have or have not dated prior to then, but that we may never know.

You all are so naughty.

I know i posted this before but no one answered me and I want answers, damnit. From someone who knows, like, musical words and terms and stuff.

The Ballad of Sal Villanueva
"You've got your high as a kite tricks in your bag..." This one is one of my favorites by them, and as far as I know it's an unreleased, or a B side or something. It's complicated and beautiful and angry and sad, self-deprecating and snarky all mixed in. "Hope that when he leave you still smell him on your sheets, cause I can, I can..." and "You'd say 'we're only friends', yeah, real good friends, I bet, I bet" are some of the most brutal How could you! lyrics ever. Okay, so anyone who knows anything about music, clue me in, because I don't know how to put this into musical words. Check out this one chord, or note, or sound they keep repeating during each part that goes "you're down for selling me out while I play dumb..." It comes right during the words, "while I'm..." (2:29-21, 2:42-44, and especially 3:03-3.) I know, how random could I get, right? But that one chord reminds me of every 1950's heartbreak song I've ever heard. Why? BTW, yes, I get obsessed with sounds.

My favorite ever,
My Blue Heaven:
I won't lie, this song still makes me cry nearly everytime. I pretty much have to listen to it by myself. From around 2:35-ish till pretty much the end, really. The arrangement, the strings, the drums, the lyrics, everything. I absolutely can't put my finger on why, but when Adam Lazzara sings "you're safe, child, you are safe," I utterly believe it. My favorite part is "more than anything you wanted to be right," there's something about the chords there, something changes in the music, and I don't know exactly what it is.

I wish I understood music as well as I love it.

Now, to the conversations regarding car wrecks. You guys have no idea how ironic this was to me, seeing as the reason I have been absent was something along those same lines. Not me, but someone extra, extra close. I almost lost him, but he is tougher than he even realizes.

And in "Ballad", I'm not sure what you're hearing. There's that steady bass line (bumbumbumbumbum) then periodically there's some electronic "feedback" (it isn't really feedback, but it's computerized sound). Then the guitars are playing strong chords (not sure which ones because I'm not good with that) on the beat. I don't know really what else you could be hearing.

I wish I could explain it better. I grew up hearing 50's music (my Da is a singer,) and certain sounds are just familiar to me. I actually played that song for my Mom too and she also heard that "heartbreak ballad" chord at those same times in that particular song. I'm so curious as to whether or not they did it on purpose, or exactly what it is. I wish I even knew what to google. ^_^ But it's just exactly at those times I mentioned, it's so weird because I recognized the influence the first time I heard it.

Fantastic. ^_^

It's the little, teeny, weird things in music that grab me. So often it's not like a huge ascending chorus or catchy hook, but "charms."

"Charms" was explained to me by a Hawaiian chant teacher. These are little things done in music that sound weird or random in order to bring out the real meaning of the word "chant," which is to enchant. This particular teacher meant it in terms of vocal "charms" (and in Hawaiian chant there are tons of them that you do on purpose,) but I'm talking about more general stuff. Usually my favorite part of a song will leave people scratching their heads.

Incidentally I also got obsessed with Gerard's way of saying "get down" in like one speaker during "Jetset," with whatever the hell Ray and Frank are doing during "Venom" on the "hallelujah lock and load" part, and with one of the guitar parts in The Sharpest Lives* because during the lines "I've really been on a bender and it shows," it almost sounds like slack key guitar, you know what I mean? And you just don't often hear that outside of Hawaiian music. Or at least I don't.

Oh, those moments in "Ballad: (2:29-21, 2:42-44, and especially 3:03-3.) They really are that fleeting, those moments.

I appreciate you giving this some thought. It really interests me!

Anonymous said...

My Blue Heaven:

This starts around 2:30.

Music quiet from loud chorus
2:30- Fred's picking notes in same key as the chorus was in.
2:35- key change into a lower one
2:39- key change back to the one in the chorus (raises itself again) and Adam comes in with two guitars, each picking, no chords
2:50- key change again into the lower one
2:54- full band and back to original chorus key (steps back up again)
*If you listen to Matt's bass line in between here, you can here him step down step by step gradually going into another key (maybe 2)*
3:05- Adam's line finally catches up with the music's notes and he begins to step down with it off the beat--> "Sa-a-a-afe"(love that too because it adds so much character)

Am I looking for something else? I wish I knew the chordage, but I don't have anything (piano, guitar) in front of me to find it.

This is reminiscent of a Led Zeppelin song but I can't think of which one. I know it was off of The Song Remains The Same, though. It's damn near the same song for a few seconds.

*If you listen to Matt's bass line in between here, you can here him step down step by step gradually going into another key (maybe 2)*

Lemme check it on iTunes.

Okee, I think I mistyped one of those numbers. On iTUnes it's: 2:20-21, 2:41-42, and 3:03-03. It's at the exact moment each time he says the words, "While I..."

I've got an idea for you on "Venom". Go watch the 2nd disc with all of the live performances and watch the "Venom" with them in the studio setup. Watch what Frank and Ray are doing there (if they aren't zoomed in on Gerard for the sake of all things), and then try to match what you're hearing with their strumming/picking. That's how to do it. 'Cause I don't hear anything out of the ordinary besides Gerard and Ray harmonizing. It's always very hard for me to hear the rhythm guitar. That's why I sit and watch live performances over and over again. I'll be back with "The Sharpest Lives".

The saddest part of that is that I used to play guitar. It was many years ago and I never learned how to read music. I was never trained in music, but I should have been, because at one point I was a really, really decent soprano.

2:20-21- there's nothing there but vocals ("While" is sung on one note and "I" is sung one whole step above "While"), piano (you can hear it pretty clearly), and the bass line (sounds like it follows the vocals. It stays on one note up until 2:20 then it sounds like it steps up a whole at 2:20-2:21)

2:41-42-same as above but John's in the background singing Adam's line, but just an octave higher. You also hear the guitar chords (DUN-DUN) and that continuous bumbumbumbum of the bass line

3:03- there is a definite key change. you can hear john drop down especially in his vocals ("play dumb") because of they way his lines don't match up with adam's

I'm sorry again for not having the chords.

Yeah, that's just it, there's nothing but the vocals and the piano, which is why it mystifies me that I have heard that sound in so many 50's heartbreak ballads. O_O I wish I could even cite some examples but I'd have to actually listen to a bunch of them to even get an idea of what I meant, and I wouldn't know where to begin.

^Well, I wish I had heard more 50s heartbreak ballads.

"Sixteen Candles" anyone?

I still can't discern "Venom"s guitar parts. I hear Ray picking something really high, but it's just real brief. Are you sure you aren't mesmorized by the awesomeness of their harmony? I am. Ray for the win.

As for "The Sharpest Lives", I'll post something either later on tonight or tomorrow (I have to find the link) that was an interview with Ray. It's strictly a musical interview from the horse's mouth. He talks about some really cool stuff. He pretty much goes through all of TBP and describes some of the techniques that they used to achieve the sounds they did. It's by far the best thing I've come across. He really did a good job with it. You'll be surpised to find out what that little bit at the beginning of "Lives" is, too. I was pretty impressed.

Incidentally, I really, honestly love it when people misspell my name. "Kapuna" is the most common misspelling; it means "the spring of water" or "the spoon." I think I kinda like being The Spoon. "Kapunau," which I've also seen, could translate into either "forbidden chewing" or "the chewing pumpkin" or "squid." All of which is colorful and evocative.

Ka punua is actually two words, "ka" being "the" and "punua" being "baby bird." It is actually my real Hawaiian name given to me by one of the Kumu Hula I studied with.

But seriously, you guys can call me Jules if it's giving you grief. Jules is my real name. Nice to meet you all. ^_^

I'm not familiar with the Song Remains the Same album. I mean I've heard of it, but not really listened to any songs close enough to gather anything from them. Talking about similarities, there's an MCR song, if I'm not mistaken a TBP one, where Ray plays a phrase that sounds EXACTLY like Brian May's solo in "Bohemian Rhapsody". Who is the ghost' and why was Mayo talking to Kapunua?

The "ghost" is in reference to Mayo's P.S. on this particular entry. "The ghost that floats by here now again find a way." We all had theories as to who the "ghost" could be. No one is certain.

We think Mayo may have directed some of his comments to Kapunua such as, "Disclosure is promising, beautiful; I will not take it back, and neither will you." This may have been in reference to one of Kapunua's personal, personal accounts of a(n) event(s) that she has experienced.

Who said he liekd her? (IF it is Gerard that is STUPID, he is married......)

This was a joke made by a poster who I can't remember. It seemed that Mayo had taken a liking to Kapunua after directing some comments toward her. It was simply a joke {Wasn't it Mayo? ;)}

Who is PPU and why does every one hate them?

Pretty Purple Unicorn came on here instigating some stuff in regards to SS's personal blog. I will not repost that URL for you, because that is the main reason everyone got in a tizzy over PPU. PPU was reposting the SS URL after she/he was politely asked to stop.

Was Lynz married already and are they lieing about how long they knew each other. Did Gerard cheat on Kat, how do we know this or is that just a rumor.

I do not know the answer to any of these questions. I don't know if it's true. I don't know if it's false.

Wht's this about unicorns and does it mean that Frank hates Lynz?

The unicorns is in reference to SS's blogs (whom some people believe to be Frank) wherein it stated in Latin that he didn't like the purple unicorn. Someone thereafter hypothesized that SS (whom some believe to be Frank) doesn't like Lyn-Z (the unicorn she and Gerard both had airbrushed on a shirt). It was an hypothesis. That in no way makes it the gospel.

Did I do well everyone? Is there something I'm missing?

Oh, the Brian May riff you were talking about? I'm pretty sure that was in WTTBP, because when I remember listening to that in my car for the first time and going, "Oh, 'sup Brian May?" ^_^ Brian May was always one of my favorite guitarists; I loved how he'd slacken all the strings on his guitar and do all these other crazy, random things.

That is a fantastic interview, and I was glad that I could understand most of it. At first I was worried it would all be tech stuff that would have my going "who with the what, now?" I was thrilled when Ray said that they had been listening to The Wall when they were doing TBP because there was a part in I think Mama when I first heard it that for a second I thought I'd accidentally started listening to The Wall instead of MCR. ^_^

This is kind of amazing because I think that a lot of plebs (like myself) imagine thse guys going into the studio and just magically jamming up some songs, and they have no idea how much goes into that process. It's a crazy amount of hard work.

And I enjoy the everloving crap out of TBP, but am I the only person who thinks that Revenge was better? I guess to me it just sounded more pure. I still like Bullets, too. Even (maybe especially) lyrically I liked those better, because I loved the mythology they were setting up. But now that Gerard's grown away from "vampires and afterlife" and more towards "real life" as he puts it, I can't even imagine where this band is going. (If anywhere. Because I have the feeling that this is it.)

Wow, Debbie Downer much?

Kapunua, what a beautiful name. I dig it.

Guys, thank you. I feel all warm and happy in my internet places.*

Kapunua sorry if I messed up your name sorry if I still messed up your name here.

Anonymous said...

Pssshh, I was just kidding about the name thing; you should hear how it gets mangled in some shows we've done. Worse is people trying to introduce the entire group name. Usually they just give up and go, "Well anyway, here they are!" ^_~

Anonymous said...

Aww you're welcome ^____^

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I just wanted to make sure. It is a beautiful name. And I know a thing or two about having my real name messed up. Things people have called me. Thats why I'm sticking with Martha that and I loved her on DR. who.

Anonymous said...

I thought it was WTTBP, too. But I couldn't find it. I'll go back and listen harder. Brian May was a genius on so many levels. I have a lot of respect for him as well as many others.

I want to get The Wall so bad. I just have to be willing to shell out $35 for it. I know it will totally be worth it though. I heart PF as well.

I'm really glad you enjoyed that interview. I've thought about sending it to some of my other friends, but they'd be like, "Who's this and why does this matter?" I'm so cynical when it comes to music that it isn't even funny. I wish every artist did an interview like that. Ray explained it all so well. They all have so much talent and everytime I listen to their songs, it makes me appreciate them more and more.

As for me. I like the theatricality and thickness of TBP. It's good for picking the shit out of. It's like a scavenger hunt. I also find myself relating to more of the lyrics in TBP. I liked Bullets for it's dirt and grime, it's newness and angst. It's the one that started it all. And Revenge is caught somewhere in between. I like the edge it provides as well as the layered musical aspects. It's so hard to choose.

Don't be a Debbie Downer. Let's hope they have it in them, but if this is the end, it's been a hell of a good ride. I hope they end up doing whatever makes them happy, be it another record or an indefinite hiatus.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I never thought MCR would break up. I always thought that they would take a break and than they would miss playing with each other so they would get back together. Until all this shit happen. I still want that to happen but now I don't know. Its like the magic is gone.

... said...

To me, MCR is just like any other band... they are not gods like people say they are. Other bands eventually break up... and MCR will do that too one day, whether it's in 6 months or 6 years or even if it's after they're still going when they're all over 60 (like the Rolling Stones.... but seriously, I kinda hope they don't and know when to give it up :P). It's been a good time, and one day that time will end, but they'll still leave behind some awesome music.

I ain't worrying as to whether they break up or not, but I hope some of you who are worried find some re-assurance.

Anonymous said...

^^Let us hope that that will not happen anytime soon, but like everything else, all good things must come to an end if the time is right. But that does not mean that you cannot treasure the good times and memories forever. I know I will.

Anonymous said...

I agree, MCR are not gods, and if they decide to call it quits, I have other band to fall back on :)

Thank you for linking that interview it was really interesting.
Even though i am very unmusical- my brother got that talent.
It was good to read an interview with Ray. It annoys me that many magazines etc, focus on gerard and his opinions, and how he often is deferred to in filmed interviews.

I don't know if they just listened to "the Wall" the whole album is very reminiscent in it's structure too.
You must get "the Wall" anon2007 !! it is fabulous, especially very loud in the dark.
And get the movie too !
And while we are on Rock Operas - go back and check out "Tommy" by the Who.
I love the musical theatricality of TBP but I do prefer the style of Revenge. The sound has more raw power, though musically TBP is more mature.
Combine the maturity with a more Revenge style and they'd be on a winner !

MarthaJones:
It does kind of feel that way, but then I stop and think about everything (aside from this) that has happened. All of it being so good. They've instilled so much into me about music and about life, I don't think that magic will ever die for me. Do I want them to break up? Of course not. That's really the last thing I want to happen. Will I be upset if they do? Yes and no. It'll be bittersweet. As I told BC in her blog, there are a lot of people we have faith in. Some, including this band, just have a brighter light shining on them which makes everything appear so much worse than it probably is. Then, one day, the person or people you lose faith in does something to restore what you once felt in your heart and soul. I think that that's what'll happen here.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Not worried about a break up. To me it seemed that they liked being around each other and playing with each. I always saw them saying the band was over but missing the good time that they had with each other so they would get back together. Just for the fun of it.

Anonymous said...

Gah! I know Ergoproxy! You know what? I'll make plans to pick that bad baby up this weekend.
As for the movie, it comes on all the time on tv. But, the kicker is that it's a channel I don't get. Hmmm. The world is obviously conspiring against me.

Glad you liked the interview as well. It's always refreshing to hear from the other guys, especially when it's music nerd to music nerd :)

Anonymous said...

Yes, there will always be good music. Anyone else here like 30 Seconds to Mars? I've seen them live so many times and they are such a great band. (Their live show is predictable but musically they are always awesome.) Shannon Leto on their first album is pretty much > every other drummer.

Well, so off to bed I go. Have a good night, homies, and thanks for the really cool musical dissection conversations!

something along the lines of....
frank saying gerard was old and was only young compared to a tree

gerard defended his age by saying that 30 was the new 20

it is nice to look back and see the love and teasing

As for television shows, I think the only new show I have been watching is Blood + on Cartoon Network and sometimes I watch Ghost Whisperer. I despise MTV. It wasn't like it used to be when I grew up watching it unfortunately :(

I am determined Bleeding Chaos to see an MCR concert! They've only come to Winnipeg three times, and all three times I either didn't have the money for a ticket, or no one else would go with me. Believe me, for the May 15th concert that they had here, I called the radio stations and begged for tickets because I didn't have money, all they said was "Sorry, it's sold out!" buuut when I read the review in the newspaper the next day, they said that it was a rather small crowd=[ Pfft stupid radio dj's:P

Blood+ is turning out to be a great show, but I do not recommend it to the younger viewers. It is pretty violent.

paperhearts, the djs told you the show was sold out? That sucks, but I'm sure they may come back to Canada. Keep your fingers crossed :) The first time I seen My Chem was last october and my friend just told me a few weeks ago that she wanted to go see it, but then a venue worker or someone told her the show was sold out. It was complete bullshit because when I bought my ticket, the show was not even sold out and it was not even sold out when the show was starting. When I told my friend, naturally, she got pissed.

Usuaully at MCR shows, I tend to order my tickets in advance or try to purchase them as soon as they go on sale. Most of the concerts I either end up being in the floor area or I end up being just a couple of feet away from the stage. You need to have alot of persistence and determination. MY PR show, i had the best seat in the house. The pit area. I was lucky enough that I was so determined to get a good ticket through the ticketmaster site. When I found out that pit tickets were sold out, I kept on searching and searching until I found one available and guess what? I managed to find a pit ticket at the last minute.

JocelynHolly said...

Well Bleeding Chaos, I wish that I had the determination that you had when you got your tickets. I actually cried the night of the concert too. It was the day before my sisters birthday, I remember because I was going to spend the money I had for her birthday present on tickets for the concert that very day. But then I gave up after I was told it was sold out. Ohh well, I hope they come back, they better. I am now more determined than ever to see My Chemical Romance live, even if I have to go by myself, and sit in the shittiest seats in the whole venue. =]

they play to the rafters, i swear.
