There's a word for that.

It is everything built to borrow
made of a moment or two of sorrow
with a roof pitched of tar and nicotine
and everything good that is in between
that has taken three hundred days
sometimes filtered through a painted haze
while holding breath without suffocation
there is love and hate, anguish and elation

The killer freaks the fuck out of me to be honest, so yeah, you did a damn fine job with him!

I don't mean this in a bad way, but the hooker kinda reminded me of you. :)

Solly, I'm so honored he freaks you out. ^_^

Carrie, that's actually kinda sweet; I wanted her to be sort of pretty.

Hi again errbody.

Oh, and PJ! Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog! :)

Oops, hi some more! thank you, Princess!

RW, yup, Leathermouth tomorrow.

It's a little odd that I'm going to see Leathermouth tomorrow to rock my face off, but currently I am rocking my face off to the BeeGees. LIFELONG FAN. ^_^

Carrie, not bad. I'm excited for Friday and Saturday though. Only two more days until payday and Against Me!

Indeed.

I got pegged today at work to teach a little art group we run for kids, just a sculpting thing. Should be fun though.

Goodnight Carrie and RW.

I gotta go, too.

It's my anniversity! :)

And right now I am about ready to make him eat that damn remote control. >_<

Later peeps!

Have a great night!

Goodnight Smoke.

9:13, you get the flight, and I will grab the sign and wait at the airport.

sdock10 said...

Nite, BBers!

Have sweet dreams of whatever you want to make them sweet and stuff.

Amyranth said...

9:16, I hope so. It's really nothing major. Parents pay for their little ones to come in and fiddle around with art supplies for a couple of hours every Saturday. The parents always have to stay, so I'm just there as a gopher really. But still. Sculpting! I love sculpting!

Happy Anni Smoke. Just remember where the buttons on the remote are after you make him eat it.

Anonymous said...

I have the passport. Will get the flight. Hopes that sign points in the direction of the partah where we will break a few more commandments and the last of the seven deadly sins! On my way.
;-)

Mayo,

Can we just have a stare down tonight?

Cool.

You know the rules, right?

Okay.

Starting...now!

Love to YOU Always,

Amyranth said...

*checks the list*

How many more commandments and sins do we have left anyway?

Anonymous said...

Amy I would love to see any sculptures you did. I always comment on good art when I see it. ^____^

Anonymous said...

Not many, Amyranth. I think we hit all 7 of the deadlies. I don't think we've killed anyone yet. Have we?
Maybe we should skip over breaking that commandment. Unless there's someone you really, really, really want to knock off.

I want to see some more of your work too, Amyranth. Let us know when you've posted more pictures.
Going pack the knife set, bow gun and blood stain remover. See you at the airport.
;-)

Anonymous said...

I agree so hard, I love Amy's drawings.

Amyranth said...

9:33, unfortunately, the only sculpture that I've ever done that might be worth showing, got knocked over by a cat and shattered. Not really surprising, it wasn't great quality clay anyway. I'll have to try again.

*ponders*

You know, I don't think there is anyone I'm ready to knock off. I'll call you if my boyfriend ever leaves me! Ha!

Amyranth said...

9:37, if you think I'm good, you should check out some of the people I've got added on DA. There's some really incredible work out there, but I'll warn you, a lot of it is Sailor Moon related!

-A

Anonymous said...

I know I have been around DA Amy, there is some good stuff there. You see good art everywhere and then you see really bad art. You can always tell when someone has talent and you have talent in spades. I always have to tell artist when I think they are truely talented.

Amyranth said...

Well, thank you 9:52. However, I personally believe that I'm only "good" until I see someone better. Then, it gives me something to work for.

I think I'm going to take off though, I want to try and actually get a good night's sleep for a change!

Goodnight Lovelies, Anons, Mayo and SS.

I don't hate anyone. I just think it's ridiculous when people argue that these women have some kind of connection with Frank. I mean, come on, people. Frank has family and friends. He doesn't form special connections with random fans. And no matter how special the OPs think they are, there is nothing that sets them apart from millions of other fans.

I think it's a shame anons can't just leave people alone, like carrie said (I was back reading) it doesn't matter what anyone does they don't let up.
If you ask them to stop they attack, if you ignore it you're indifferent, you can't win
but that is their point, it's just to be nasty there is no answer that would satisfy
Plus they obviously spend a lot of time thinking about it, I can't see why they worry so much

I just had the stupid ear infection and now I’ve got a wicked bad cold. I’m trying very hard not to sneeze on you right at this moment. See, I’m looking out for you.

So I’m gonna go take some stupid cold medicine and try to lay down. Of course then I won’t be able to breathe. Pretty sure I need to breathe. Pretty sure I’m already feeling loopy and I haven’t taken any medicine yet. This is so not good.

Take care of yourself. Oh, did you read that article you weren’t interested in? Please tell me you didn’t go with Martha Stewart. Here’s an easy one for tomorrow. Go to Starbucks and order something off the menu that has the letter “H” in the name. Why “H”? I dunno, don’t make me think I'm sick. Just go with it, okay? Trust the Saint, I’d never lead you down the wrong path. Oh hell, I’m totally lying cause I would. Maybe not on purpose but I would.

mayo,

i've been reading your poem, as i do, and i think what made it seem dashed off to me is the way the last three or four lines seem to run downhill. i definitely pick up speed when i'm reading them. *grin*

sometimes, a meaning jumps right out at me, i'll read one of your poems and it will ring clear. sometimes, i have to nibble at it for a while. i have to take each word and turn it around in my thoughts, and taste it, and consider it, before putting it back down in the pattern.

that's why poetry is fun. *grin*

i wish i could tell you what the pattern of this poem looks like to me, but it's a shaky one. the meaning i see is tremulous and half-formed and it's best kept to myself, i think. if i could even explain what i see.

but that's what's good about poetry, too.

thank you.

and good night to you, my friend.

Good morning/afternoon/evening Mayo, SS, J; the possibly soon to arrive Possum, FASC and Lewis; the still missed Kass, Miranth and DL; various mature (regardless of age)and empathetic anons, watchers and lurkers!

How are you all today? Happy, well, safe and all that other food stuff that makes one feel warm and fuzzy all over!

Me, I seem to be having a heck of a time uploading my Hurricane Gustav videos. I must learn to shoot shorter videos. I figured, if I am going to go out there in 80 plus mile an hour wind gusts, I'm going to shoot as long as I can before I get knocked on my arse! Seemed like a good idea at the time. Oh well! We live and (continue) to learn - I hope!

Ergo: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's wife. It sounds as though he was utterly and completely devouted to his wife. He must be going through emotional hell right now. :(
I'm sure he knows that you are there for him though. If he needs a hug, a hand to hold or someone to help him cry.....
*big hug and smoooooooch for you*

BC: I don't have any special plans for Halloween, yet. How about you? Are you going to any costume parties? Halloween is a bit tricky for me. I always loved Halloween; but, it's the anniversary of my brother's death. Yep, he was killed on Halloween (Oct. 30th).

Although, Voodoo Fest is always the last weekend of October! That's my yearly Halloween thing. Voodoo Fest and The House Of Shock (and whatever comes after) *wink*

J and L: *humongous hugs for you two wonderful, beautiful ladies* Just because!

Elena: You're sick again? I'm sending you some vitamins in that good luck mojo pouch! ;)

Smoke: I hope you had a nice anniversary complete with at least a dozen gorgeous roses!

For pondering consideration today:

Hi guys! I hope everyone is well.

:)

I have been very busy dealing with changes that came up unexpectedly, as I stated almost a week ago. At least the health problem (circulatory) I was having cleared up spontaneously, but the other issues are rather long term. It looks even more likely that I will be moving out of state, but I am still at the fact gathering stage... we'll see. I'd miss family and friends, a lot, especially the family I've made here.

Elena - I hope you feel better soon. Your ear infection sounds painful, but to have a cold too is added misery. Keep warm and take care of yourself!

FASC - HI! *waves*

MissT - I am ok, now. Thanks for the visit :) I posted an update above.

Lewis - I appreciate your concern also. You are a sweetheart! And don't forget it! :)

ergo - I am sorry to hear about your friends wife. *giant hug*

wendy - Stay safe, you hear!? I am not sure where Ike's headed, but I do know New Orleans is being evacuated again, so I worry... Take care of yourself and animal friends too. *big hug*

Bully Anons - Leave the OPS ALONE! Reaming someone for their kindness just makes you look like asses. Look in the mirror - should be instructive.

RE: The Concert in Detroit - I saw Warship's last two songs. They were surprisingly good - and I like the harder rock/metal sound. Leathermouth was awesome, and I especially always liked the kill the pres. song. The lyrics and melody pop in my head unbidden from time to time, the hallmark of a great song, IMHO. During MC Chris and the beginning of Reggie, I was discussing personal issues with my best friend (possibilities of moving together, etc) so I missed a lot. I was very grateful to Reggie for playing such a long set, as I was so distracted, (alternately sad and elated). My friend even loved their music - and she hates everything I like, so you know the music was excellent. I love the stipulation song. I have it on repeat in Rhapsody right now. :) I spoke to Frankie for a minute and had him autograph the bottle he beaned me in the head with, which my friend who picked me up promptly threw out when she cleaned her car. It figures. Frankie was pretty odd, as he was last time I met him. The Adrian Brody looking guy said that Reggie might be back at some point, even though it was a farewell tour, when I asked him. That was about it. The crowd was pretty disparate, which surprised me, though I think some were chaperones.

I ended up having a great time, and my night was still young yet :) so it was even more fun! :)

Mayo - I have to say that I am pretty confused (not a new phenonmena) so I will refrain from saying anything other than Thank You very much for the loan of this space. :)

PS - Frank's blond wig reminds me of a time when I had blond hair :) or Kurt Cobain :))

Take care everyone!

Ergo,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's wife. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to lose someone that you fully expected to spend the rest of your life with.

I heard a very sad story yesterday about a local couple here. They had went off with some friends for a weekend of fishing in Alabama. The husband started not feeling well, complaining of arm pain and just hurting all over, but he suffered from Fibromayalgia and didn't really think much of it and neither did the wife. He woke up the next morning which was their wedding anniversary feeling worse than he'd ever felt in his life. He was standing there talking to his wife and collapsed. She frantically called for an ambulance but was told it would take at least 45 mins, something about Alabama and their 911 system. She didn't want to accept the fact that he was already gone so she and her friends wrapped him in a sheet, loaded him in the car, she stayed in the backseat with him doing CPR for the whole drive to the hospital.

She lost her husband on her wedding anniversary.

So sad. Makes my heart ache.

Can I just say that waking up to "I Hope You Dance" doesn't make me want to lose my sense of wonder, doesn't make me want to give faith a fighting chance, doesn't make me want to dance...it just makes me want to curse the sunrise and crush the world in my fist. Muahahah!

Love to YOU Always,

Mayo,(and everyone)
well I assume if you've read back you'll know that a good friend lost his wife today.
They were a devoted couple, active in the community and church, raised 2 lovely children (both of whom I taught), he was a colleague for 13 years, they threw us our engagement party.
it's always terrible hearing the news, though I know she is now in a better place, free from the pain and cancer that claimed her.
But as I continued through my day, teaching my kids, celebrating the birthday of a staff member of the library, then coming home to my husband and daughter, driving down to my evening tutoring the same thought struck me as always does in these situations, best summed up by the chorus of a Wendy Matthews song

"Hey there's not a cloud in the sky
It's as blue as your goodbye
And I thought that it would rain on a day like today
Hey there's not a cloud in sight
It's as blue as your goodbye
And I thought that it would rain
on the day you went away"

don't you think somehow there should be some change, some significant alteration to the world when things like this happen to you, or someone you know of. But it doesn't. Everything carries on, lives proceed, day changes to night, the world carries on, it's a sobering thought that for a family time has changed more than they would ever want to imagine. And it happens every second of every day.
(another internet friend of mine lost a family member today too)
I think it is so important to remember that we are so fortunate , always, that we aren't a person for who time, as we know it, stops.
Another person has lost the person they thought they'd spend their whole life with ,
...you'd think it'd rain
Wishing you love, kindness, health and happiness
much love EP xx

SS hoping you too are safe in the knowledge that you are, for another day, blessed with the companionship of family, friends and loved ones. Never forget how easily it can be taken away, cherish every second.
Sending you love, happiness and joy lotsa love EP xx

goodnight blogbelieve see you in my morning

I just watched my life go by
it's just a pack of lies
coz you're leaving me behind

why
after this long is there nothing I'll keep
oh I can shout
you'll pretend you're falling asleep

I live a lie
yeah
believing that you're mine
it's just a waste of time
coz you're leaving me behind

hey there's not a cloud in the sky

I haven't noticed the OPs waving to James D. I have noticed Smoke, Sdock10 and Fimble Star doing that waving. Maybe they have a special connection to James now. Good for them. But why would James be here? One wonders.

But TRY, at least, to respect Frank and the fact that BOTH his grandmothers passed away within a month of each other last year.

Yes I am just soooo sure that Frank reads this blog and he was terribly offended when people were mean to a couple of old ladies because he lost his grandma's.

I think the biggest lesson I was ever taught was to not be a master of one thing, but a novice of all.

Learn about these folks. Read about them, listen to their music, becasue a lot of them determined what you now listen to.

You don't have to love them or like their style, but one day, like today when they get namedropped, you'll be able to say, "Oh man, yeah, let me tell you what I know, and you tell me what you know!" That way everybody learns, you know?

And this goes for everything. Know a little bit about it all, and don't be afraid to say "I don't know."

Morning guys! I hope you're all doing well. :)

Good Morning, everyone!

Ergo, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's wife, please give my condolences. Even if you know it is coming, it doesn't make it any easier.

Wendy, it's so good to see you, well, ANYWHERE. I'm so glad you are alright. Keep working on the video!

Elena, how are you feeling today? The cold meds were kicking in last night, weren't they? :) My prescip for you today is to have Flighty go to Starbucks and bring you your fav coffee, plus one of everything in the store that has chocolate in it. And oh, GO TO THE DOCTOR IF IT GETS WORSE! Direct orders.

Everyone who stood up for us last night, thank you so much. Usually we just leave it be because it does no good to engage them. But we really appreciated the kindness.

By the way, I saw the comment about me changing my post. For those who missed it, the original was titled "Motherfucking Son-Of-A-Bitch" and the text was "I am so sick of their shit!"

The reason I changed it was to mess with the anons from last night, since it was the anons who attacked J. the other night that I was referring to. Guess they missed the sarcasm! I was not referring to any regular, unless it was regulars who attacked J. But since I now know that anons are reading my blog, I will try to come up with interesting topics for them in the future.

Anyway, have a good day and I will see you guys later!

Love,
L.

.....was sensitive to the fact that many punk-influenced bands preferred indie labels. I asked the band if they wanted to stay with Sub Pop. Kurt emphatically answered, "Absolutely not." The band wanted to reach more people. "And you know who wanted to reach more people the most of the three of us?" Krist asked me rhetorically years later, "Kurt. He wanted to make it big."

In the spring, Nirvana recorded the album 'Nevermind.' The cover was, like everything else connected to Nirvana, Kurt's idea. He had seen a picture of a baby underwater and made a drawing that showed a baby being lured by a dollar bill on a fishhook.

I finally saw Nirvana in concert when they were booked as the opening act for Dinosaur Jr. Although most of the songs the band played had not come out yet, Kurt had a mystical and powerful connection with the audience. After increasing cynicism about what rock 'n' roll had turned into, I felt the naive excitement of a teenager.

Somehow Kurt was able to be both on the stage and in the audience, rocking the crowd out and yet also among them.

Within days of the September 24, 1991, release of 'Nevermind,' it was clear that Nirvana was not just another cult band. The earnest guys who had cheerfully worked on the album in relative obscurity were about to become rock stars with a velocity that the music business had not experienced since the days of 'The Ed Sullivan Show.' Kurt had made a connection, and he understood that Nirvana, within the first few days of the release of 'Nevermind,' was no longer limited in appeal to the punk-rock press.

Up until this point, Kurt had been in charge behind the scenes but chose to stay out of the spotlight. He couldn't even figure out what he wanted to call himself, experimenting with spelling his name "Kurdt" and "Curt," before deciding on the original. After the album came out, Kurt decided that he would be the primary spokesman for the band.

Nirvana played one more time in the indie-rock venues that had nurtured them before they went on to conventional arenas.

At Chicago's Metro, on October 12, 1991, a tall blonde introduced herself to me as Courtney Love of the band Hole. She said she had come to keep her friend Lori Barbero, of the band Babes in Toyland, company. Lori was the latest alt-rock woman who had a crush on Grohl. I was charmed by Courtney's self-effacing affect, although I'd soon learn that she had numerous personae she could call up at will, and this would be the last time I would ever see Courtney as an underdog. After the show I saw her sitting on Kurt's lap, a comical image given how much bigger she was than him. But there was nothing comical about their connection. From that night on, they were inseparable.

Until Courtney came along, Kurt had never spoken to me about anything personal. He was moody, prone to depression and capable of quietly scathing bitterness. Kurt could create a distancing aura that made me feel I needed to walk on eggshells when I approached him about even the most routine issues.
But most of the time he had a sweetness and gentility about him. He rarely took out his bad moods on the people around him. And when the clouds of despair parted, his scintillating smile and wry humor could light up any room.

Courtney's very presence was a metaphor for the end of one era in the band's life and the beginning of another. Often she was just a mouthpiece for what Kurt himself wanted and didn't feel like asking for. Although I knew Courtney could be difficult or irrational, it was also obvious that Kurt's attachment to her was no passing fancy.

The weekend in January 1992 that Nirvana did 'Saturday Night Live' for the first time was a turning point that put into focus the heroin problem that was to haunt Kurt for the rest of his life. (He dyed his hair pink for the show, which somehow added a sense of dissolution.) Courtney called me at home the morning the show aired and asked me to get Kurt $5,000 in cash so they could do some "shopping." I felt pretty uncomfortable as I delivered the package of $100 bills to her at the hotel. Abruptly, the dark cloud of drug excess had entered the band's life. I was confronted by the baroque facade of lies and the awful glassy-eyed deadness that regular heroin use provides. I resolved to confront them about it after we got through the next few days in New York.

Soon after, on February 24, Kurt and Courtney got married, in Waikiki, where they had stopped on the way back from Australia and Japan. It was a very small wedding attended by the other band members and some of the crew.

In the early months of his marriage Kurt spoke about Courtney in terms that were almost courtly, a fantasy of the way he imagined a loving husband would talk about his wife.

Kurt's sentiment about his marriage was reflected in a cover story on him and Courtney in the teen magazine Sassy. "In the last couple of months I've gotten engaged and my attitude has changed drastically," Kurt said. "I can't believe how much happier I am. At times I even forget that I'm in a band, I'm so blinded by love. I know that sounds embarrassing, but it's true. I could give up the band right now. It doesn't matter, but I'm under contract." Kurt was being disingenuous. He was well aware that his contract didn't force him to be in a band or to record, it simply meant that any recording he chose to release would have to come out on Geffen Records.

Well, regardless of your views on MCR vs. Nirvana, I think it's safe to say that Gerard, at least, tries to emphasize the similarities.
