You couldn't shut me up if you tried.

As any good poem will do, I was moved to another place. Taken back to a day long ago when I was twelve, no maybe eleven, and had spent a good portion of the afternoon alone foraging around in the yard. Aside from some awkward social issues, I was content (even the social issues contented me because it gave me the excuse to be alone). So that particular day, standing in my yard, breathing in the warm fresh air of spring, I recall being rained upon by helicopters. I collected them all in a box, or perhaps it was a bucket, and climbed my favorite tree as high as I could and re-released them to the ground. It was my intention to allow them a second flight, to once again be aloft.

It is amazing how similar we are, humans. Inhale (I’m), exhale (here). At the very core we exist, our attempts to make our lives enjoyable or in some instances passable should be worthy. Take it in, the amazing, the simple, the meaningful and give it away, just the same.

As I have said (and as some have speculated) I am privileged to have a few places to spout off (last count...Three, “oh lucky me.”). Of course, some of my words were never intended to be read by anyone other than the one I wrote them for and in some cases no one at all. These places have never intersected, until now. I have been reminded to rip myself open. So, I have gathered up these words for a second flight.

Her fingers weave through my hair
And her breath is a reminder (that I breathe)
In and out, slow and almost silent

I'm

h e r e

I'm

h e r e

I'm

h e r e

Her evening promise
brings me rest.
When I wake, whenever that may be
I can tell her anything
and she believes
And I understand
the weight of trust.
She begs me for more,
more anything, more everything
and I oblige, within reason
I can give endlessly
and she will return the favor.
She is at once present
and future entwined
For years in the making
and each moment a step
closer to letting go.

p.s. but once I am dead, Dis.

The written word, in any form, is a powerful gift. But, it can also destroy.

Kapunua,

AIC- not jarring to me because it all just seems to flow together. Also, drums stand out more than anything to me on that song.

Reichel- I felt like I was being rocked in a hammock.

I'd say the drive a lot, Ergo. ;D

Ergo,
I got error messages!

Though I thoroughly advocate that an individual's ability to make analogies towards disparate things is one of the glorious signs that one is dealing with a singular human intellect, that isn't to say that all analogies, though clever and wacky they may be, are right.

Yayness was mine first!

Anonymous said...

That's interesting, Star. But re: Keali'i Reichel, did you get any emotion from that song though?

That's weird about AIC but then you've heard them before. It's probably more interesting when you hear them for the first time. I actually remember the first time I heard AIC, I remember the actual first ever time. It was in college and I was in the dark room while my friend was developing pictures. I was gabbing about the Talking Heads song Papa Legba (another one with the dissonance) and she said, "Oh, I picked up this tape the other day, let's listen," and it was AIC, "Facelift." My immediate reaction to the harmonies was something like O_o !! WTF ARE THEY DOING? GAHHH! A few more listens and I realized that what they were doing was totally correct, and also totally new and interesting.

Yeah, and Sean Kinney is a great drummer.

Yes, I got the feeling that he's talking about friendship. Like "I'm your friend until the end."

The first time I heard Alice In Chains was when they opened for Van Halen. I'm not the biggest Van Halen fan, but I wanted to see Eddie play Eruption live. Anyway, I was totally blown away by AIC, and thought that it sounded like something I had never heard before. I went back the next night to see them again.

You all have a good evening and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Oh yeah, you too Mayo.

gnothi seauton said...

Sorry about the delay, my daughter came home and wanted to chat.

First off:
AIC - have never heard them before and I agree with Star, it didn't jar me at all.

The 2nd one - love his voice, so melodic. As for emotions; I don't know why but I got the feeling that it was like a requiem, he was saying a final farewell to someone.

Quite beautiful.

Anonymous said...

Very, very interesting on both counts, GS.

Okay, wow, that's so intriguing. You're right, Keali'i's song is a good bye to his grandmother who passed away.

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I haven't been around in a few days...I've read your words. Thank you so very much. ♥

I've been trying to catch up, so much I've missed and probably scanned over unintentionally.

...

This was wild to hear. Frank is in a Cure tribute band? Interesting. I'd love to hear it. Not sure if anyone can pull off Robert Smith's voice, but I'd give kudos to anyone who could!

....

I do have some good news to report...our music venue is so fucking close to becoming a reality! No shit. We put an offer on a bar, they accepted, have permission to expand, and are so close to getting a loan (had an interview on Friday, got nothing but positive feedback). Thought I'd share some goodness since other things are not looking so good.

Anonymous said...

Isn't it amazing? I'm so impressed that you got that.

Oh my gosh. And here come the thunderstorms that were promised all day.

I've missed you too! I'm okay. Lots of ups and downs. But hanging in there. Thank you for asking.

How have you been? I'm sorry if I missed it, but how was the show today? Did it happen?

Anima, that's awesome for you!

Yeah, that's the kind of storm we're having now. O_o It's awesome though.

Anonymous said...

Oh, no the show got canceled today. >_<

anima said...

Thanks Ergo and Princess! We are pretty stoked. Two years in the making, a lot of deadend leads, no's and negativity. But totally okay with where the chips have laid...now it is moving at lightning speed. And we are ready!

Keeping my fingers crossed too!

Speaking of which, SS, know I'm thinking about you...I hope you get what you want...We are crossing our fingers for you too.

gnothi seauton said...

I'm so impressed that you got that.

I think it has more to do with their musical skills than my interpreting skills ^_^

Hi Anima - so lovely to see you. Great news about the venue, sounds promising.

I'm going to have to head off, my eyes are complaining. Sorry to those I haven't spoken with tonight, I think I even missed saying good night to RW!!!

Good night All.
Good night Mayo.

7:02 In our dreams we shall met. Our love will endure eternally. My lips will lock with yours and I will hold you tightly until we merge like a single flame lighting the sky.

I always feel you, in my heart, on my skin, in my soul

I like for you to be still

It is as though you are absent

And you hear me from far away

And my voice does not touch you

It seems as though your eyes had flown away

And it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth

As all things are filled with my soul

You emerge from the things

Filled with my soul

You are like my soul

A butterfly of dream

And you are like the word: Melancholy

I like for you to be still

And you seem far away

It sounds as though you are lamenting

A butterfly cooing like a dove

And you hear me from far away

And my voice does not reach you

Let me come to be still in your silence

And let me talk to you with your silence

That is bright as a lamp

Simple, as a ring

You are like the night

With its stillness and constellations

Your silence is that of a star

As remote and candid

I like for you to be still

It is as though you are absent

Distant and full of sorrow

So you would've died

One word then, One smile is enough

And I'm happy;

Happy that it's not true

Come with me, I said, and no one knew

where, or how my pain throbbed,

no carnations or barcaroles for me,

only a wound that love had opened.

I said it again: Come with me, as if I were dying,

and no one saw the moon that bled in my mouth

or the blood that rose into the silence.

O Love, now we can forget the star that has such thorns!

That is why when I heard your voice repeat

Come with me, it was as if you had let loose

the grief, the love, the fury of a cork-trapped wine

the geysers flooding from deep in its vault:

in my mouth I felt the taste of fire again,

of blood and carnations, of rock and scald.

you will always exist in the core of my being, no matter who I am with

anima said...

I don't know that the feelings that music can give you can actually be explained.

I do not think it can. It is so personal and the most amazing part of it is that regardless of the musicians' intent, it will always be what it is to you.

anima said...

Anons in love...

This is my parents wedding song:

The Twelfth of Never

You ask how much I need you, must I explain?
I need you, oh my darling, like roses need rain.
You ask how long I'll love you; I'll tell you true:
Until the twelfth of never, I'll still be loving you.

Hold me close, never let me go.
Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.

I'll love you till the bluebells forget to bloom;
I'll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.
I'll love you till the poets run out of rhyme,
Until the twelfth of never and that's a long, long time.

Hold me close, never let me go.
Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.

I'll love you till the bluebells forget to bloom;
I'll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.
I'll love you till the poets run out of rhyme,
Until the twelfth of never and that's a long, long time.

Until the twelfth of never and that's a long, long time.

Simple, but true.

Smoke said...

That is so sweet, Anima. :)

anima said...

you will always exist in the core of my being, no matter who I am with.

Yes, all of our loves will exist in our being. Relationships are always with us...a gift.

If you are with someone now, please do not express love that is over with to another. If you are in love and with another, then you should step back and examine the one you are with. They deserve your all. If your heart is with another, then you are cheating that person. Let go or move on. It's your choice. Your choice to find the happiness and love that you deserve.

anima said...

Thank you Princess. :)

....

Do I always kill the blog? Damn. I should come up with something witty and intriguing to say!

I got nothin'.

Anonymous said...

That goes for Mayo. You can cheat with your heart.

Anonymous said...

Question

do you think frank and gerard have ever experimented together sexually?

Anonymous said...

Yes.

Anonymous said...

I knew that's where this was headed.

anima said...

Anyone wish to save me?

Nah...

Oh well.

I must move on to scanning photos and some other stuff ... I miss you guys so very much when I am not around. It's true.

...

See ya in a bit, I hope...

...

P.S. Anon, you are right, cheating of the heart is just as bad as cheating physically. It removes something from the relationship whether one realizes or not. Yet it is okay to open oneself to others. There is a difference. It just depends on whether you understand the difference...and if what you are searching for is right in front of you, if that person is who you should be with, or if that person represents the kind of person you should be with. Which way will you go? Always chose the one that brings you the most happiness, the most fulfillment, the one that offers you in return the things that you need and deserve. It's two-way.

Smoke said...

Be back in a bit, Anima! Gotta let the little dude play around on Funbrain.com for a little while.

anima said...

RE: Gerard and Frank. Whatever they have done (not done) is not my business. No matter what has happened, I feel like they love (loved) each other.

Anonymous said...

sometimes they can only stay in your heart, because that is the only way you can be with them

anima said...

Princess, have fun with LHM!

anima said...

sometimes they can only stay in your heart, because that is the only way you can be with them

True.

But, it maybe the case that you feeling that you are with that person is different from that person feels about you. It's okay to hold onto him/her, but not to the point of trying to reach someone that is not meant to be reached. There is a point in which you let go...only because it not what it is supposed to be for you.

anima said...

Sorry, I just re-read that, it is missing so many words. I hope you get what I am trying to say.

anima said...

Anon, you still around?

Guess not. I'm just trying to tell you the truth as I know it, from experience. Hang in there.

Goodnight everyone.

I have read this book in your garden;--my love, you were absent, or else I could not have read it. It is a favourite book of yours, and the writer was a friend of mine. You will not understand these English words, and others will not understand them,--which is the reason I have not scrawled them in Italian. But you will recognize the handwriting of him who passionately loved you, and you will divine that, over a book which was yours, he could only think of love.

In that word, beautiful in all languages, but most so in yours--Amor mio--is comprised my existence here and hereafter. I feel I exist here, and I feel I shall exist hereafter,--to what purpose you will decide; my destiny rests with you, and you are a woman, eighteen years of age, and two out of a convent. I love you, and you love me,--at least, you say so, and act as if you did so, which last is a great consolation in all events.

But I more than love you, and cannot cease to love you. Think of me, sometimes, when the Alps and ocean divide us, --but they never will, unless you wish it.

Dearest, - I wish I had the gift of making rhymes, for methinks there is poetry in my head and heart since I have been in love with you. You are a Poem. Of what sort, then? Epic? Mercy on me, no! A sonnet? No; for that is too labored and artificial. You are a sort of sweet, simple, gay, pathetic ballad, which Nature is singing, sometimes with tears, sometimes with smiles, and sometimes with intermingled smiles and tears.

I have decided to go back to burgundy or black cherry. I am tired of fighting the red, and I am too old for blue black.

Anonymous said...

Back in business!

I still have a headache though. :( Aspirin is not working quick enough.

resurrected wreck said...

Yes, Mustard, thankfully! It's a lovely rich spicy copper red. It's just a bit of a surprise still every time I look in the mirror!

resurrected wreck said...

I really liked the burgundy & may return to it eventually, but the copper reds suit my skin tone more, especially since I have freckles.

Anonymous said...

Oooo, pretty!

I thought you meant like, you know, pumpkin orange, but that sounds very nice! Copper is cool. I like that color.

resurrected wreck said...

Burgundy and black cherry are great colour choices, Star!

I had my hair blue black for a while, but it only took about a week or so for the red to start shining through it (my natural hair colour is dark red-brown). Like you, I got tired of fighting the red.

resurrected wreck said...

It's very close to this colour, Mustard.

Anonymous said...

Yup, RW.
The last time it was burgundy was when I was a sophomore in high school. Yikes!

resurrected wreck said...

Anonymous said...

Very nice, RW! Very nice!

resurrected wreck said...

I was at the hairdresser's for nearly four hours today! It took a while to lift the burgundy out (she had to do it twice). They she did a preliminary red on it just to even out the colour of the roots & the ends, then she had to put a "fixer" in (in prep, to fix the new colour), then she put the copper red on.

Thank you, Mustard :D

Ch'in Liang-yu and Shen Yun-yin.
Though tears stained their dresses
Their hearts were full of blood.
The wild strokes of their swords
Whistled like dragons and sobbed with pain.

The perfume of freedom burns in my mind
With grief for my country.
When will we ever be cleansed?
Comrades, I say to you,
Spare no effort, struggle unceasingly,
That at last peace may come to our people.
And jewelled dresses and deformed feet
Will be abandoned.
And one day, all under heaven
Will see beautiful free women,
Blooming like fields of flowers,
And bearing brilliant and noble human beings.

Thank you very much, even more so since I haven't seen any of those. Now I feel all warm and toasty inside. :)

I will try not to get to frightened Elena. I don't have anyone to hold my hand tonight.
Can I pretend to hold your hand or thing 1's hand?

A bolt of silk for each clear-toned song.
Still these beauties do not think it is enough.
Little do they know of a weaving girl
Sitting cold by her window,
Endlessly throwing her shuttle to and fro.

I'm glad you feel warm and toasty thing 1. Now, may I borrow your hand? I want to feel warm and toasty too.

Enjoy the evening and the movie watching.

Here's my hand to hold, you're gonna need it with all those skeery movies!!

She is a black crow being driven out of sight.
Her furious cry cannot awaken the flowers.
So she holds under her wings the cold currents
Wandering
on the edge of waters,
And searching beyond the borders--
There is not a tree, nor a song.

That year,
When autumn perched on her left shoulder,
Snow and homesickness had already
Fallen on her right shoulder.

She is exiled to this icy horizon,
Searching far ahead and behind,
There is no trace of man.
Only her own wandering footprints on the snow
Stretching away to the deep winding corridor of her mother's eyes.

That year
According to the legend, her footprints were carried by
the West Wind
to the remote river of Oblivion
And her voice melted away with the deep snow.
Not even one among the sixty four diagrams of the
I Ching could
burn and show a definite oracle.
For she is a black crow cast away beyond memory.

After pecking and breaking a full glass
Of the wine of reunion,
She flies into the night, and with one draught drinks
All the sighs of a thousand miles.

Thank you again thing 1. I'm not askeered. Not yet. I will take the hand you graciously offered and hang onto it for later use.

I do believe dead poets are haunting the blog tonight. I will leave a flashlight for you.

If you don't know how, why pretend?
Maybe you can fool some girls,
But you can't fool Heaven.
I dreamed you'd play with the
Locust blossom under my green jacket,
Like a eunuch with a courtesan.
But lo and behold,
All you can do is mumble.
You've made me all wet and slippery,
But no matter how hard you try
Nothing happens.
So stop.
Go and make somebody else
Unsatisfied.

albé! albé was here!

oh, made me swoon all over again. *dreamy sigh*

i was so in love with byron in high school. i read his letters -- carried the book with me everywhere and renewed it from the library a thousand times over (not like there was a crowd clamoring for it) -- and made a photocopy of my favorite portrait and carried it in my coat pocket, next to my heart.

*sigh*

Ev'ry day she takes a morning bath, she wets her hair,
Wraps a tow'l around her as she's heading for the bedroom chair,
It's just another day.
Slipping into stockings, stepping into shoes,
Dipping in the pocket of her raincoat.
It's just another day.

At the office were the papers grow, she takes a break,
Drinks another coffee and she finds it hard to stay awake,
It's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day.

So sad, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.
Alone in her apartment she'd dwell
Till the man of her dreams comes to break the spell.

Ah - stay,
Don't stand around.
And he comes, and he stays
But he leaves the next day, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.

As she post another letter to the sound of five,
People gather round her and she finds it hard to stay alive,
It's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day.

Hey, hey, hey.
Ho! ho!

So sad, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.
Alone in her apartment she'd dwell
Till the man of her dreams comes to break the spell.

Ah - stay,
Don't stand around.
And he comes, and he stays
But he leaves the next day, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.

Ev'ry day she takes a morning bath, she wets her hair,
Wraps a tow'l around her as she's heading for the bedroom chair,
It's just another day.
Slipping into stockings, stepping into shoes,
Dipping in the pocket of her raincoat.
It's just another day.

Oh-oh, it's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,
It's just another day.

You make me scream.

You make me scream and thrash and convulse with joy conjuring up fluffy trumpets from which I must declare to the world your deeply rich rich like french dark chocolate mousse rich like that 857 carat sapphire and diamond necklace a queen of Avalon would wear rich like pressing all your weight into a cerulean angora comforter rich self.

Yet somehow in the same moment I am wrapped and made loose and humble by the thick swells of grace of a tsunami of elegant feminity as complexly woven as Irish lace an envelopment of holy delicacy that I can only treasure quietly, in awe.

We stand under the moon and I notice your perfect face and subtle curves distract me from the satellite's glow.

Happy Valentine's week, Mistress.

Hiya Teej!

Anon, how about Jenga?

It doesn't matter how careful we are, someday this whole thing is going to come crashing down anyway. Might as well enjoy it while we can, right?

-A

ergoproxy said...

Amy he and others keep building and painting the mountain and he builds a clay model nearly ceiling high, that's a lot of clay. not to mention the weight of it on the floor!

but it is a good movie, especially for the effects considering it was 30 years ago

ergoproxy said...

and Hi K TJ and elena!

anything new with the ex roomie amy?

Amyranth said...

Ergo, so far she's ignoring the hell out of me. That's fine. I'll just send her check to Albania.

Like your jenga analogy!

Amyranth said...

*smiles*

Well, it's a good analogy, but I'd be happier if I didn't have to make it.

However it's true. My silly dreams are what they are..no control, that's what I love about them. Somehow you have made your way in...totally unnessesarily.

Goodnight everyone. Sweet dreams. Happy thoughts. :)

On the subject of poets, did you know that Keats shares his birthday with Frank - Oct. 31.

Amyranth said...

Ergo, she bought backstage passes that gives her access to the guys for like, an hour before the show.

Sounds cool, but $1000? Yipes man!

-A

resurrected wreck said...

How many toes do you have tonight, A? :)

Amyranth said...

RW, weird.

Did you say last night that you're dying for a bag of Old Dutch, Salt'n'Vinegar?

I could send you some, if you can't get them in Toronto.

-A

Amyranth said...

RW, looks like the count is still 23.

Anyone good at math here?

-A

ergoproxy said...

well backstage for an hour is good, but still that's a lot of money!

Amyranth said...

Ergo, beyond a lot.

She bought passes for herself, her fiance and another friend of ours. She was telling me she's gonna get a second job to pay off the tickets.

I'm really glad MCR doesn't do anything like that. I'd lose a lot of respect for them.

-A

resurrected wreck said...

Thank you, A! :)

However, it's the ones in the boxes that I crave (I swear they taste different, but don't ask me how). I had intended to pick some up when I was in Saskatchewan, but there are only the bagged ones made now. Meh, not the same :/
