An obscene waste.

Honorable Mention.

I am the clown.
Because you asked me to
and I am colorful enough, so
I quickly make the change.
It’s an easy switch in contrast.
Then, you are off and running.
Up and down the row
I am chasing you and I am out of breath.
You are elusive, but you see
I am the clown.
And I will use a trick to catch you.
I must catch you, because I have to tell you
I am not a fool. But, I have failed.

The pulsing lights drawing on
Death and destruction flash above
And beyond you. The images are mostly grave
Punched in and out in perfect time.
They were too many and too long, but
I had to remain until the end.
I knew they would tell the story.
Then, the images stop.
I achieve execution in a flash of bright white
Then perception returns to me, the clown,
Looking at you down the row.
I can’t move but to say the end.
But, I forgot the most important part.

Then, you are gone.
For a moment, I am frantic to find you.
But, I also don’t want to lose my character.
It is of every color and
Can give me up a reckless fool.
While I pretend to know the rest,
I search for my friend.
His name is random, and
He was sitting next to me.
Before you came along…
And as I am just about to take my leave
You appear again, but now
You are the clown.

And you want to tell me that
I am just a fool.

p.s. strung out on pointless prevarication and cardboard collusion.

(...fucking nightmare)

Mono no arare, cherry cherry good

For the German musical group, see Mono No Aware.

Mono no aware (物の哀れ, mono no aware?, lit. "the pathos of things"), also translated as "an empathy toward things," or "a pity toward things," is a Japanese term used to describe the awareness of mujo or the transience of things and a bittersweet sadness at their passing. The term was popularized by the Edo-period scholar Motoori Norinaga, and was originally an idea from literary criticism. In his criticism of The Tale of Genji, Motoori noted that mono no aware is the crucial emotion that moves readers. Its scope is not limited to Japanese literature, as it is also associated with Japanese cultural tradition (see also sakura).[1]

Notable manga artists who use mono no aware-style storytelling include Hitoshi Ashinano, Kozue Amano, and Kaoru Mori. The quintessentially "Japanese" director Yasujiro Ozu was well known for creating a sense of mono no aware, frequently climaxing with a character saying a very understated "ii tenki desu ne" (it is fine weather isn't it?), after both a familial and societal paradigm shift, such as daughter being married off. Norwegian Wood by the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami is an example of this feeling as well. British author Kazuo Ishiguro also is considered a writer in this style, particularly in his novels Never Let Me Go and The Remains of the Day.

Some Western scholars have compared it to Virgil's term lacrimae rerum.[2]

Japan Glossary Kokugaku

The most energetic cultural project of the Tokugawa period (1603-1868) was almost certainly the attempt to define the basic Japanese character by the scholars and poets who called themselves the kokugakushu , or National (or Japanese) Studies scholars. This diverse movement, which affected Japanese poetry and music and led to a revival of Shinto and later, in the Meiji period, the revival of Tennoism, saw as its main goal the purification of Japanese culture from foreign accretions. In order to effect this, the kokugakushu refused to study all cultural practices, from government to art to poetry to philosophy, that they believed derived from China, Korea, Southern Asia, India, or Europe. In the end, the artifacts that they believed most defined Japanese character were early Japanese poetry, represented by the Manyoshu poetry (the first collection of poetry in Japan) and by the Shinto religion. Shinto, however, had been greatly influenced by Buddhism to the point where it was not possible to extract Shinto from Buddhist ideas and practices.

Pocket of a Clown

Inside the pocket of a clown
Is a sad place to hang around
Just watching smiles turn into frowns
Inside the pocket of a clown

Inside the heartache of a fool
You'll learn things they don't teach in school
And lessons there can be real cruel
Inside the heartache of a fool

Hollow lies
Make a thin disguise
As little drops of truth
Fall from your eyes

Hollow lies
Make a thin disguise
As little drops of truth
Fall from your eyes

Inside a memory from the past
Lies every love that didn't last
And sweet dreams can start to fade real fast
Inside a memory from the past

Yeah, it's a real sad place to hang around
Inside the pocket of a clown

The minister's sermon went on and on about how important it was to forgive people and reach out to them so as not to make enemies.
"Is there anyone in this church who can honestly say they have no enemies?" asked the minister.
Not a hand went up. But a few moments later, a very elderly lady in the back row raised her frail little hand.
"Please, come up and tell us what you have done over all these years that you can be so confident you have no enemies," asked the minister.
Dutifully the old woman limped up to the front of the church where she explained:
"I outlived 'em all."

It's the summer of 1956 and Harold goes to pick up his date, Peggy Sue. Harold's a pretty hip guy with his own car and a duck tail hairdo.
When he goes to the front door, Peggy Sue's mother answers and invites him in. 'Peggy Sue's not ready yet, so why don't you have a seat?'
Peggy Sue's mother asks Harold what they're planning to do. Harold replies politely that they will probably just go to the malt shop or to a drive-in movie.
Peggy Sue's mother responds, 'Why don't you kids go out and screw? I hear all the kids are doing it.' Naturally this comes as quite a surprise to Harold and he says, 'Whaaaat?'
'Yeah,' says Peggy Sue's mother, 'We know Peggy Sue really likes to screw; why, she'd screw all night if we let her!'
Harold's eyes light up and he smiles from ear to ear. Immediately, he has revised the plans for the evening. A few minutes later, Peggy Sue comes downstairs in her little poodle skirt with her saddle shoes, and announces that she's ready to go.
Almost breathless with anticipation, Harold escorts his date out the front door while Mom is saying, 'Have a good evening kids,' with a small wink for Harold!
About 20 minutes later, a thoroughly disheveled Peggy Sue rushes back into the house, slams the door behind her and screams at her mother:
'Dammit, Mom! It's the Twist! It's called The Twist!!!

Anywayz, sorry for flaking.

I think I repeated it enough in my head that I've decided a smidge of the bass line in "Feeling Good" sounds eerily similar to the Pink Panther theme song.

Don't ask me why.

to be with you

holding you in my arms
loving you
sharing truth and reason
mercy and hope

in our dreams
our heaven
our life
always

I love you

When you look at me

“I reach for you, you reach for me
With a look alone our hearts entwine
Forever in love, yours and mine”

be well
my love

My love, I am
calling your name
whispering in your ear
writing on your heart
holding you in my arms
wrapping my body around yours
tonight
tomorrow
forever
and
always

I love you.

Surrender

When we kiss my heart's on fire
Burning with a strange desire
And I know, each time I kiss you
That your heart's on fire too

So, my darling, please surrender
All your love so warm and tender
Let me hold you in my arms, dear
While the moon shines bright above

All the stars will tell the story
Of our love and all its glory
Let us take this night of magic
And make it a night of love

Won't you please surrender to me
Your lips, your arms, your heart, dear
Be mine forever
Be mine tonight

Anonymous said...

Thanks, RW. I don't know, I've been growing plants since I was a little kid. I've always loved gardening. I used to grow strawberries and melons that the whole family would eat. I guess I get it from my Granddad who was a landscaper and groundskeeper at a hotel. He was very talented. My Gran often says that my Grampa could put a dry stick in the ground and it would grow. He died in May of '99 but to this day everytime I get an intuition on where something will grow, or what I need to do with it, I figure it's Grampa giving me hints. ^_^ He was always insisting on pruning things, cutting back dead parts, making things smaller. It seems really extreme sometimes but I just go hacking at parts that don't look right, and it's usually the right thing to do.

Mainly it's all harmless stuff like turning the tv up really loud or changing the channels. Hi everyone, how are you all?

Hi Wendy, I miss you too sweetie.

K, I wish you all the luck with teaching hula, I hope that works out for you.

I posted pics of DG's new hair and tattoo at my blog if anyone wants to see.

I have blogged about my time with DG but there was something that happened that I haven't included.

As you all know, I have in recent years had mulitple family bereavements that have knocked me for six. I also have low self esteem issues and have never had much luck with boyfriends (you can count on one hand how many i have had).

What with events over the past years, relationships have been the last thing on my mind, not that anyone's been interested anyway.

Friday after work, I went to the station to catch my train to Manchester to see DG. I got there 40 mins early. After 10 mins this guy comes onto the platform to wait for his train to Plymouth.

We get chatting about football. His name is Russ and he's in the army. He's based in Hull and he'd been doing some outward bounds thing but he was going home for the weekend.

Well, we had a nice chat for 30 mins then his train came. As he jumped up he said "can I have your number and I'll text you from the train". So we swapped numbers and he kissed me on the chhek before hopping onto the train.

Well, this blew me away. This just doesn't happen to me.

So, on the train we were texting. I obviously thought we'd never meet again so I got a bit flirty (basically phone sex).

Anyway, he was texing me all night. The next morning he got in touch again to say that he was off out with his mates. I thought that was the last I'd hear from him.

As I sit here he is texting me now. He wants to meet up in a few weekends time. Did I mention that he is drop dead gorgeous.

Well, it is at least 7 years since I had any kind of action. I know we got flirty on the phone but I thought that would be the last I saw of him. I am not what you would call promiscuous in any way. I hope he doesn't expect anything from me cos I'm not like that. Also, after so long you worry that you will be out of practise and crap.

I am nervous as hell right now.

Just thought I'd share.

Anonymous said...

Oh my god, I just saw the funniest little bitch-fight between a male robin and a male cardinal. Oh wow! They're still dueling it out! It's too funny.

resurrected wreck said...

Very cool, Miss T! :D

Anonymous said...

Oh my god, MissT, wow. Yeah, I would be nervous too because I am very socially awkward around people who are good-looking. Actually even around people who aren't. Interest in me makes me nervous.

Just keep in mind that you are the one who sets the boundaries, and most importantly, you do NOT have to impress anyone. If he ends up not liking you because you don't give it up right away, it's his loss.

Either way good luck!

resurrected wreck said...

It, without a doubt, is amaaaaaaaazing. Again, I kid you effing not.

Every time I get a new one, I listen to it front to back, one time through, but I'm only up to "Hold Up."

It's so fresh! It absolutely feeds my ears. The technicality, the multiple changes in time signature O_O, I've never really heard anything like it. THANK YOU!!!

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Rw I had a plastic bag over my head so I couldn't really do anything.

Damn you!

sdock10 said...

Mustard,

Oh my GOD! I am so excited that you are excited because I have a tendency to go on and on and on about music that I really love, but oh my freaking god....Raconteurs! It's like I hear something different every time I listen.

And you just wait until you get to Carolina Drama...be prepared....

Cannot wait!

Is it slow tempo or fast, "Carolina Drama" I mean.

And you're right, this one's going to be one where I can pick it apart. I love when I can do that, it excites me. It's so thick! I heart it already.

Anonymous said...

Martha your dream is really funny. I can just imagine you sitting there at the piano going 'What?'

sdock10 said...

Carolina Drama is slow and tells a story. Like a good old country song. I just can't wait for you to hear it and experience it. It caught me so off guard, I was damn!

Hello everyone

Miss T-good for you girl! Go for it. I love the romance of it-you see I am in that giddy mood too and it is both fabulous and horrific at the same time. I am so happy for you-you deserve alot of fun.

Kapunua, I've read some of the crap you've been through. What goes around comes around. Your personality will carry you through.

Take care.

Hi, EB :)

I want to sing.

This thing called love I just cant handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I aint ready
Crazy little thing called love
This (this thing) called love
(called love)
It cries (like a baby)
In a cradle all night
It swings (woo woo)
It jives (woo woo)
It shakes all over like a jelly fish,
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
She knows how to rock n roll
She drives me crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool cool sweat

I gotta be cool relax, get hip
Get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until Im ready
Crazy little thing called love

I gotta be cool relax, get hip
Get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until Im ready (ready freddie)
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love I just cant handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I aint ready
Crazy little thing called love

Martha Smith-Jones said...

blogger = ass

still singing

When you tried to kiss me
I only bit your tongue.
When you tried to get me together
I only came undone.
When you tried to tell me
The one for me was you,
I was in your mattress back in 1982.

Daria, I wont be soothed.
Daria, I wont be soothed over like,
Smoothed over like milk,
Silk, a bedspread, or a quilt,
Icing on a cake,
Or a serene translucent lake.
Daria, daria, daria,
I wont be soothed.
I wont be soothed.

When you tried to tell me
Of all the love you had,
I was cleaning oil from beaches
Seeing only what was bad.
When you tried to feed me
I only shut my mouth.
Food got on your apron
And you told me to get out.

Daria, I wont be soothed.
Daria, I wont be soothed over like,
Smoothed over like milk,
Silk, a bedspread, or a quilt,
Icing on a cake,
Or a serene translucent lake.
Daria, daria, daria,
Daria, daria, daria,
Daria, I wont be soothed.
I wont be soothed

Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone whos there

Feeling unknown
And youre all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
Ill make you a believer

Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know Im a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal jesus...

Feeling unknown
And youre all alone

I am well. I have bought tickets to see Queen in October. I know it is not the same without Freddie but they really have top tunes so am looking forward to that.

I met up with someone I used to go out with but had not seen for 6 years-the first hour was fairly polite. We went for lunch at 2pm and then the next thing we know it was 8pm-the waiters just kept bringing us coffee. It really was good fun. The weird thing was we never mentioned why we broke up....
Oh well, maybe next time.

My friend finally called - huzzah!

Well, time for me to head off. Have a lovely evening, everyone :)

MissTottenham said...

EB37, I'm so glad you had a great time. Do you think you will do it again? Or was this a one off?

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place.
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space

And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Possibly [video version]
Probably [CD version]

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice

Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to Lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Possibly

Welcome home S&V

I think this is my last song

Out on the tar plains, the glides are moving
All looking for a new place to drive
You sit beside me so newly charming
Sweating dewdrops glisten freshing your side

And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress - all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time
With your beating heart

Way down the lane away, living for another day
The aphids swarm up in the drifting haze
Swim seagull in the sky towards that hollow western isle
My envied lady holds you fast in her gaze

(chorus) (chorus)

Sing blue silver

And watching lovers part, I feel you smiling
What glass splinters lie so deep in your mind
To tear out from your eyes, with a thought to stiffen brooding lies
And Ill only watch you leave me further behind

(chorus) (chorus)

Sing blue silver
Sing, sing.. blue silver

(theres more to this kind of camouflage)
(more than just colour and shape)
(whos going now, in to a classiomatic? )
