I'll pay you off in twenties.

My heart is a vacuum
and in it a prickly pear.
It is nothing that I swallowed,
it was you who put it there.
In absence of sunlight
it grows and bares flesh
while spines follow limbs
to a fine found filament
of sugar frosted fingers
for my grip almost spent.
It purges heat and a punch
then I swallow it back,
that prickly pear
perhaps, I did put it there.

p.s. it really wasn't as grand as I thought it would be.

Flowering plants -
...The moonflower is similar to the morning glory, and when we speak of the two together it suggests that the flower is indeed a charming one - but it's a great pity about the long gourd pods. Why was it born that way, I wonder? If only they were more the size of the lanternflower's pods, at the very least. Still, the name itself is certainly lovely.

Anonymous said...

Welp, didn't turn out like I wanted it to, but I ask: When does it ever?! ;)

Have a great night everybody! Talk to you all tomorrow sometime.

Anonymous said...

Mayo,

I'm not really sure what to say to you tonight. I mean, lots of things could be said, but I don't know where to start.

I think I'm just tired of the stagnation. I think I'm just tired of everything being like it always is. I think I'm just tired of living though another's pictures, another's words.

I guess, at some point, things will start going the way I'd like them to, the way I kinda thought it might always be. Or maybe it never will and I'll be humming the same tune forever. That's what will be the worst.

You can only be happy for others for so long. We all want our time.

I'll be the one that even the cat doesn't see.

Goodnight, Mayo. Have a great Wednesday.

SS,

For once, I don't think I have anything to say to you tonight that I haven't already said.

I think I just want to thank you for the reality check and for sticking with us.

Have a peaceful night and a great tomorrow. 'Night, buddy.

sdock10 said...

Mayo,

How are you tonight? What are you doing? Are you still struggling with the prickly pear? Don't know if it's best to leave it be or to try and get rid of it? Think it might do more damage on the way out than it did when it was put there? Need help with it?

I'm not scared of thorns.

...just sayin.

Or maybe, like I said last night. You like your prickly pear right where it is.

Have a nice night, Mayo.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. We all have our prickly pears to bear.

Birds - The mountain dove is a very pure hearted and touching bird - they say it can by showing it a mirror when it's longing for its mate. It's heart-breaking to imagine how they feel when they sleep separated for the night by a ravine.

The uguisu is made out to be a wonderful bird in Chinese poetry, and both its voice and its appearance are really so enchanting that it's very unseemly of it not to sing inside the grounds of our nine-fold palace....No doubt I feel this way because the uguisu is so well loved for the fact that it sings in the spring....Yet surely, in the world of humans, no one goes out of their way to run down a person who hasn't really made it in this world, or whose reputation is already on the wane....So really, it's precisely because the uguisu is supposed to be such a marvelous bird that one's perversely more aware of its failings.

Anonymous said...

MJ, that's what I'm removing right now. I might just go with it again because it's a bitch to get it all off.

Anonymous said...

Hey there Ergo!

Anon, I've gotta go with red, naturally. ^_^

Martha Smith-Jones said...

hello carrie.

Clinton won and it just isn't right

Anonymous said...

You wake during the brief nights during the raining season and lie there waiting, determined to be the first to hear the bird - then suddenly your heart is immediately transported with delight, as that dear, exquisite voice comes ringing through the darkness.

Everything that cries in the night is wonderful. With the exception, of course, of babies.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Well I guess red than. Do you have a sparkling red?

ergoproxy said...

anon silver always looks nice

hi carrie! I was pleased that was my question! all credit to you!

chicks are really good thanks, cheeping about etc.

and because I think the blog needs a bit of cha cha cha

Senor coconut and "Beat it!"

his Fiesta songs album is seriously one of the best!lol

Carrie said...

anon, dark shimmery red, I'm picking that just because I like the word shimmery.

ergoproxy said...

Silver it is. Thanks for your thought on my color choices. I probably won't be back on tonight, wet nails aren't so great for typing.

Carrie said...

Aw, man, Ergo, I will have to look at those later, the hubby is watching tv now so I have the sound turned off. Of course he still has to deal with the clickety clack of my typing...

Carrie said...

Here's hoping you don't get any of those annoying polish bubbles! I can't ever polish my nails, I feel like they can't "breathe."

Anonymous said...

Maybe I'll give the shimmery dark red a try after all Carrie.

Night Night

ergoproxy said...

anon I have to use that express dry nail enamel as I cannot for the life of me prevent myself smudging or smearing or scraping off wet polish.

ergoproxy said...

Carrie MJ how about Captain Sensible?

Carrie said...

Nah, Ergo, drawing a blank on that one, but good news, hubby went to bed so I can watch the vids now!

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Ep no idea. Carie I only really remember one song Stool pigeon.

Off subject I wonder how the MCR boys dealer with the earth quake.

ergoproxy said...

haha always good when you can have the room to yourself!

Captain Sensible did "Happy Talk"and "Wot", he was the guitarist in the Damned

ergoproxy said...

I was wondering the same MJ I wonder if they were still awake, or if they just go straight to sleep after a concert, my friend who met them and spoke to Frank after had just gotten home, talked to me, then gone to bed and it was about 15 mins later, but she was asleep

Carrie said...

Ok, I've watched 30 seconds of Happy Talk, and damn, you Aussies be trippin'. :) And the Senor Coconut was rockin'!

Anonymous said...

Ahh...David Vanian, I love his voice.

Carrie said...

Oh, I think I've actually heard Wot, or maybe I'm just picking up on the riff from the Sugarhill Gang in the background.

ergoproxy said...

Capt Sensible was british, but I remember him performing on a music show here, it was a funny choice seeing as the Damned were pretty much the original goth punk!
Happy Talk was from the movie "South Pacific" originally

ergoproxy said...

Anon I totally agree with you!!!
he is wonderful!

Carrie said...

Did The Damned have any music I might know?

ergoproxy said...

possibly carrie , the biggest song they had here was a version of Elouise which I cannot find on youtube :(

Dave Vanian was my first ever goth punk crush, I thought he was fabulous!
It's totally his and Alice Coopers fault I like the music I like!
(well and the Ramones)

11:13, you are thinking of sinister things like debts and blackmail. O_O The "off" changes the tone a bit; a friend pointed that out to me, I didn't think of that on my own. (Wish I had though, as it's very clever.)

Once again, I was thinking in not-so-literal terms. But then I'm a flake, so what the hell do I know?

Anonymous said...

Also 11:13, your post sounded a little bit like that old game show in the 70's. What was the one with categories as hints? Was that $1000 Pyramid or something like that? Like,

"Uhhh, hookers. Drug dealers."

"Things you find walking the street at night!"

"No! Uhh...Your ex!"

"Things you might pay off!"

DING DING DING!

Please, just make me go to sleep right now.

Anonymous said...

Of course there is always the "someone who knows something about you" option too, like blackmail right?

But again, here's me, not taking it literally until someone points it out.

Goddamn English degree is giving me such grief lately!

Carrie said...

I hadn't heard any of that Ergo, thanks, I love to find out new stuff. Man, there was some kind of evolution before the first clip and Eloise though!

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Or it could be Family Feud Kapu.

Show me people you have to pay off.

Or people you would see on the street at night.

Carrie said...

Yeah, kinda like my psych one does me.

ergoproxy said...

yes he went a lot more goth.

I have heard of that actually after MJ said they took the kids after there was a phone call from a girl but they don't know paternity etc
It's a dreadful situation!

Crows Calling At Night

Yellow clouds beside the walls; crows near the tower.
Flying back, they caw, caw; calling in the boughs.
In the loom she weaves brocade, the Qin river girl.
Made of emerald yarn like mist, the window hides her words.

Anonymous said...

Could be MJ, maybe that's the one I'm thinking of!

I hated game shows as a child. I still do. The sound of them depresses me, like even if I hear them at someone else's house, and I honestly can't even tell you why.

Carrie said...

Yeah, ergo, they are giving DNA tests to the whole compound trying to figure out what's what. It's a tv movie waiting to happen.

Nice, Ergo!

I don't think I've ever seen The Price Is Right.

The only gameshow that was any fun was Jeopardy. And I'm not saying that in an "intellectual snob" kinda way because the only Jeopardy shows I ever aced were the celebrity ones. ^_^

Anonymous said...

Welp guys, I am off to bed. ^_^

Anonymous said...

I had earlier figured that I'd stay awake a little late and find more cool quotes or perhaps oddly pertinent poetry to post, but today took a lot out of me and I'm so tired. So instead I will say goodnight and haul my ass to my comfy, warm little bed. Mmm, heavenly!

Mayo - dunno if you've read any of my whining; that's cool. The gist is that I know I need to follow a different path all of a sudden. Change scares the everloving Christ out of me--i am in a situation that's comfy for me financially and emotionally (yes, even the bad parts are still comfortable in some weird way,)--but I sense that I have to go through with the change anyway. Again: NOT a big deal to most people. But bravery isn't not being afraid of anything, is it Mayo? Instead, isn't it when you're afraid of something but you do it anyway because it's the right thing? Even if what you're afraid of is easy for someone else?

So far my efforts haven't turned up the thing that I'd like to do. But I am going to keep trying until I've exhausted all my resources and then, Mayo, if that doesn't work out, I will still make a change, and take an empty-handed leap into the void.

I'll bet, Mayo, that you've taken that empty-handed leap into the void before. Haven't you?

Well, I'm not going to lose my momentum. Mayo, don't lose yours either.

Good night and have lovely dreams. Like of giraffes or something.

S(S)S, oh man, I hardly know what to say. I'm sorry that people were picking on you. I know that's not pithy or meaningful or even really helpful at all but I missed most of it and what can I say that hasn't already been said? And, for all that I flatter myself that I am good with words, sometimes I really don't know what to say. Just, yeah, I'm sorry that people were saying rude things.

Anyways S(S)S, the way you have "Family" and "Respect" in your interests is making me think of The Godfather. Coooool! Can I be consiglieri, pleeease? "Okay, here's how they're gonna come at you." ^_^ Tom Hagen was my favorite. Then Sonny because he was such a hardcase.

Good night to you, S(S)S. Long days and pleasant nights. :)

BlogBelieve, good night!

game shows requiring a bit of thought aren't as bad, like quizes, we used to watch Family Feud and Blankety Blanks

Well J, I have been looking at some......stuff but I won't say anything ;) and considering my plans for next month and for the summer and what I'm gonna do

toujours said...

hey bc!

hello, anon -- i started out there -- me and vm got reaaaal close -- like squished up against each other close, but also just two people away from the stage (ray's side).

i couldn't hack it though. i walked out before mcr came on -- a great thing however, because i had an excellent spot on the stairs at the back of the pit, still ray's side, and i could see the entire band (minus only james *sad face*), and the sound was great and in all seriousness, tonight was the best show so far.

BEST.

so no pit for me -- vm the amazon made it through the whole thing though! -- but i'm not crying. no way, sister.

Anonymous said...

Thanks TJ!

What made it the best? Did they add new songs?

elena said...

No way, no how sister.....

Tell me more!!!!!

toujours said...

elena -- mission accomplished.

i happened to see matt cortez and gave it to him to give to gerard...but um...i wasn't able to before the concert...and vm was kind enough to stash it in her purse...

for the whole concert.

in the pit.

against her hip.

sooooooooo,
it isn't in premium condtion anymore....or, as vm says: "it's whipped now!"

(i told matt to tell gerard to NOT eat it, fercrissakes. lol!)

elena said...

TJ

Perhaps I should take a Cherry Mash to St Louis?

Anonymous said...

That's awesome TJ

Anonymous said...

Do you mind if I ask what you gave him?

Original Punk J said...

I vote for donuts, Elena, TJ!

J

Carrie said...

I'm guessing a Reese's Whipp!

toujours said...

what made it the best, anon?

i was grinning with joy throughout the entire show (well, not during "cancer" or "desert song", they're too beautiful for grinning, for them i just absorbed) -- the guys were all having so much fun, and everyone was performing with so much total energy!

gerard was obviously a delight, but because i was able to see the others, i could see how much fun they were`all having.

the songs were the by-now usual ones -- maybe mixed up in order, but amazing. tonight's performance of "demolition row" knocked my socks off. my mouth was also hanging slack in admiration with the pure vocals at the beginning of "i don't love you" -- that was new to me, and very happy-making!

more?

i could go on and on and on and on and...but then i would be branding myself a flaming fangirl.

*gathers the shreds of her decorum about her shoulders*

Carrie said...

Night, guys, I gotta pack it in.

toujours said...

elena: yes, you should.

anon: carrie has the right answer. it wasn't edible anymore though, but dammit, that thing had travelled with me from kansas, wrapped in bubble wrap no less -- i wasn't going to give up just because the thing had melted a teeny tiny bit (understatement, natch)!

Anonymous said...

Well, it's good to read you had a great time TJ!

elena said...

Anonymous said...

Original Punk J said...

Night Carrie, have a good rest.

TJ, do they still have the revolving drum riser?

J

elena said...

So TJ you left the pit....

On your own or did you have help like I did....*wink*

Anonymous said...

Night carrie, sweet dreams.

toujours said...

j, they don't do the drum riser like that anymore -- because they have all the drumsets for the three bands out on stage when the concert starts -- bob's set is the highest, and covered with a black cloth (like the piece of art that it is! lol) and then the high holy drumset is unveiled at a proper time -- at the portland shows, my friends and i made sure to "oooh" and "aaahhh" appreciatively.

:)

lol elena -- no i walked out under my own (wobbly) power. he wasn'tr working the barrier tonight anyway. but the guys in drive by recognized me! lol

it must be because i talked to them in kansas, answering their questions about my travels, when i bought the cd. they're nice guys.

toujours said...

oh, and because ttechnically it is tomorrow now, i"d just like to say that the frappuccino i bought on the way home had a lot of pizzaz.

Original Punk J said...

Well, crap. I thought the anti-dep's would do it for sure. Did you try Cupcake's suggestion?

TJ, I liked the revolving drums. They were so cool. Ah well, memories.

So how did, uh, You-Know-Who look? The, um, *brightly-colored* one?

J

Anonymous said...

I thought so too J, but it didn't. Cupcake's suggestion probably won't work, considering its the internet. I wish I could physically kick him in the balls. That would make my day. And also kicking the balls belonging to those of that duck James Blunt ^_^

toujours said...

sorry! emailing. :)

elena, nothing can beat our little relaxers. *heh*

mostly it was just fun getting goofy with you know?

oh!
i have one more concert story -- this is funny.

there was a little pocket of fangirls around me where i ended up standing, and they kept shouting "i love you gerard!" throughout the show. *bemused eyeroll*

anyway, at the end of "mama", gerard went off on this weird little tangent (what, him? i know! totally shocking that. *wicked grin*) where he was saying something about: "you can't sell the cookies if you're not wearing the uniform."

repeatedly.

and i couldn't help myself -- it was just so ridiculous and so silly, i found myself shouting out "you goof!". no one else was saying anything, just gerard, going on about girl scouts, so it was heard by a fair amount of my neighbors in the crowd.

all the fangirls turned and looked at me as if i had either committed a heinous social faux pas, or (and maybe "and") was directly going to be hauled down to hell. through the floorboards.

*heh*

but he is a goof. that's what makes it so much fun. :)

Original Punk J said...

BC, did you just call James Blunt a "duck"? That's even funnier than if you'd called him a dick (which is what I figure you meant!)! I know who he is--some maudlin singer-type--but that's about it.

BTW, there was an anon at 2.25pm today (well, yesterday) who said some really nice things to me. Whoever you are, Anon, thank you for your back-up, and your kind words. I'm glad to see somebody in the "outside world" appreciates our guys, too. :)

J

toujours said...

j., are you referring to....um....

frank? :)

at one point, he was sitting on his knees, and pretending to wash his face -- like a squirrel, maybe, or a little dog -- and grinning up at bob.

he was smiling a lot, even though he seemed to be tired too. i have a hard time reading him onstage, though.

and, you know. saw him afterwards, too. :)

Anonymous said...

Ha ha, yes I did J, but mostly because he sings like a duck, and his voice is so damn annoying. I get this urge to punch him in the face whenever that "beautiful" song comes on. Ugh.

TJ I love your story.

Let me guess it was an "Oh Gerrrarrrd" moment?

Original Punk J said...

You know what I'm thinking, TJ?

Insanity. Insanity has finally set in. *shakes head sadly* Poor, poor baby. And so young, too.

(PSST. THAT WAS A JOKE.)

Got to see him afterwards again, did you? Cool! Anything exciting happen?

We're gonna hang at the buses after our shows to try to meet them again. I've actually got a couple gifties for Frank--nothing extravagant, just some things that will be meaningful to him.

J

elena said...

Okay guys since you all have met them I really hope the hanging out works in St Louis. I've never met them. Oh no, I'm falling into a poor Elena funk.

Original Punk J said...

Ok, now we HAVE to meet them in St Louis. Elena, you can NOT be the only one in our crowd who hasn't met them. No way.

We shall go, armed with donuts and Starbucks, and meet us some pretty boys! YEAH!

Thank you so much everybody for the good wishes about the teaching course.

I shall let you all know how I go on with the teaching thing.

pretty much constantly throughout the show, tbh. :)

j., he's such a sweetie. he totally should have been asleep in bed, but no. there he was working this long-ass barrier full of kids.

elena, it's going to work out. we'll get you a hug from frank, somehow.

sally said...

What sort of donuts will you take J, glazed or cream?

Hey everyone just popping in.

toujours said...

Original Punk J said...

Hi and Bye Miss T! Best of luck to you with your teaching course! I know you've been looking forward to it, so I'm positive you'll do well. *hugs* Hope to talk to you when you're back around.

Original Punk J said...

Hey Elune! The ONLY donuts are the cream-filled, chocolate-icing-covered ones. Krispy Kreme, baby, Krispy Kreme!

How're you tonight?

J

toujours said...

it's so slow atm, this blog seems to need a bit of pizzaz.

*griiiiiiiiiiiiin*

sally said...

I'm very well thanks J!

BC, is someone harassing you sweetie? I noticed you mentioned something about kicking someone's balls.

Anonymous said...

Elune, I'm not sure if I'd call it harassment. It's just some anon who pretends to be "Tom Cruise."

I'm just having fun with them.
James Blunt is a different story though ^_^

Hello Mayo, SS, Elune, J, TJ, Ergo, MissT, BC, Elena, anons, anyone I missed!

How are you all tonight? Good, I hope. I lost track of time tonight. I is soooooooo late! :p
My Tinker Belle is home, safe and sound (sound asleep on my feet too), and recovering nicely.

Thanks for asking about her everyone!

Elena: I'm so HAPPY Jake is home too!!!!! I knew that smart guy would find his way home! :D

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Original Punk J said...

Peaches! *hugs and kissies* Did you give Tinker Belle extra hugs and kissies from us? I'm glad she's home and feeling ok.

Where were you last night, young lady? *shakes nagging finger at Peaches*

Hello Wendy how are you tonight?

BC, you poor girl. Tom Cruise is a complete loon. But I kinda feel sad for him.

Anon616 said...

Helloooooo - ooooo - oooo - oo

*hears echo*

Did everyone go night-night?

:(

*le sigh*

Where have you been sugarplum? I've been missing you for the past hour or so. How are you? I'm glad that Tinker Belle is back home and well *smothers Wendy with super super ultra sloppy kisses and hugs*

I'm good, but in the midst of staring at some dude's package. Give me a few minutes while my eyes readjust and shift to focusing on the blog.

Anonymous said...

Elune, oh yes he is, and he has these delusions about being in "love" with me. I said to him it's utter bullshit and nothing but.

I have no pity for him.

Anon616 said...

J(uicey) and Elune!!!!!!!

I'm so happy ya'll are still awake!

I gave Tinker Belle tons of extra hugs and kisses for you, Juicey!

Where was I?

I was helping a friend paint chairs. LOL! How exciting is THAT!

How's my little Sparkle doing, J(uicey)

*hugs and kisses for all*

sally said...

Maybe you should mark your blog BC. Make it a "Tom Cruise free zone" ^_^

Anyway, I quite sleepy so I'm heading off.

Toujours it is so good to read you having such fun. Stay well.

Everybody goodnight, and sweet dreams :)

O_O

Does that package require EXTRA shipping charges for OVERSIZED package? ;)

I'm good, sweetcheeks! I'll be better once I get all the red paint out of my hair!

*huge hugs and extra ultra sloppy kisses back*

I probably will! Goodnight and sweet dreams Elune

Goodnight Elune and sweet dreams to you!

BC: Is Tom at it again????
He just won't leave you alone, will he? :))

Fang Bang said...

Hello everyone!

tourjours, I am so jealous of you going to all of these shows. :)

Wendy, I'm glad Tinker Belle is doing well.

Elena, I'm glad Jake found his way home. My dog used to run away a lot when we first got him. What was funny about that whole summer is he would always wind up at a house that was having a fiesta (most of my neighborhood is Hispanic and my dog is part chihuahua), one time he even came home with guacamole on his nose. LOL xD

-------------------------------------

Well...not if it concerns the drummer's package, but it isn't my fault that I looked. It was entirely on accident! "It" stood out a bit in a couple of pictures I saw, and I couldn't help but take a peek.

And he has some nice legs too. Sighs.

*Bows head in complete shame*

what made it the best, anon?

i was grinning with joy throughout the entire show (well, not during "cancer" or "desert song", they're too beautiful for grinning, for them i just absorbed) -- the guys were all having so much fun, and everyone was performing with so much total energy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TJ: Is sounds as though you had another fantabulous concert experience!!!! Are all the glorious details up on live journal yet? *big smile*
Anon616 said...
FangBang!!!! There you are!
How are you? Have you been to any concerts this week or are you resting for a bit? ;)
Anonymous said...
I'm afraid so Sugarplum. "He's" not gonna leave me alone, even though I told "him" I had my eyes on someone else.
Hi Fang Bang, how are you?
And P.S. The last few days I've been listening to some songs from the drummer's band, and he's pretty impressive. His drumming skills reminds me of Vinnie Paul's.
Maybe I can check them out live sometime.
Anonymous said...
Where is J? I could use some Krispy Kreme donuts. They closed down the one near my house :(
Fang Bang said...
Hi Wendy, I'm doing okay. No concerts this week, which is good, because three in one week was a bit too much, lol :) but I am going to see Pennywise May 7.
elena said...
Hey guys
Sorry I wandered off. Too much to do and not enought time. Think I'll say goodnight to the Mayo-man and head off to sleepy town. Take care. Catch up with you all later.
Oh and Hello Fang. Don't believe we've every talked before. Nice to meet you.
Original Punk J said...
Goodnight Elune, sweet dreams!
Hey Fang, good to see you!
Wendy: painting? Mmm-hmmm. Is THAT what you young people call it today, then? ;) Baby Sparkle is quite well tonight. She's all covered up snuggy warm in her bed. She said for me to tell you, "Baa BAAAAA Baaa Babaaaa. Baa BAAAAA baa!" ("Good NIGHT Aunt Wendy! I love you!")
BC, you're definitely getting worse instead of better. ;)
Speaking of sleepy...that's me, to a T. Think I'll write my goodnights and head for bed.
LOL!!! Sounds as though your doggie enjoyed a good FIESTA!
I would tell him to keep his nose out the guacamole though! Avacado's are toxic to doggies!
Is it my turn tonight?
And how is that a bad thing? I don't like being a good girl. That's far too boring ;)
*Insert cheese smile*
Goodnight and sweet dreams J, Elena.
To be on top again? I'll beg, if necessary!!!!!
Family, it's been a rough couple of days, but it'll be alright eventually. Let's see if we can remember why we all came here in the first place.
Hope you all have a good Wednesday!
love and hope and faith
