Who would I be without that lost reality…and your face, your words, and your touch?
You sing karaoke
without knowing
the words.
Can’t read,
but can kill it
in a verse.
That sweet dance,
a remembrance.
With that in mind, I continue...
I am fascinated with the everyday condition. I watch and listen and I am prompted to return the favor with ink and fiber. I am captivated by the remote.
I am drawn to those who misguidedly assume they have little to offer. I admire those with the biggest hearts, and the quietest egos. And the vibrant, passionate, strong willed and self assured also encourage my craft.
The dark and pensive, the quiet and plotting, the spirited and confined, the naïve and unafraid…any combination a profit, all notions sublime.
The gravity of a book, a wise old woman, a tale told in three verses and a chorus repeated twice, the advice of those who know infinitely so much more, and the unexpected bit of hope that arrives when you say I love you.
p.s. paint your walls a deviceful shade of change and then you will know why.

Who? Me?
Anon 7:01 yeah I made that mistake by accidentally putting 2:10 in my comment. My comment is meant for anon at 4:08.
Good evening GS. How is your day? Hi solly. I see that there was a demand for cupcakes, eh?
Anon, no fair :p
Hi loli. Long time no see.
7:08 - What is "it?"
Oh! Guys, I am downloading Muse stuff right now. If I like it, I am going to buy it all. ^_^ Man, these guys have been around forever.
I live under a frigging rock.
Hmmm, I don't know then Loli. I hope it settles down soon.
Hi Kapunua.
BC - busy, I have workmen around the house for the next few days. How are you?
7:08 - What is "it?"
I'll name that tune in one - Epic/ Faith No More
guess
MMMWWWAAHAHAHAH!
We have a possible new Muse cult member.
guess
I just did. ^^
you need to wash your box.
Hi K, gs. GS, I'm alright, just keeping an eye on the new household member, the cat. We may give her to someone else.
Epic was a fantastic song. That entire album was terrific and so was Angel Dust. Those are still two of my favorite albums of all time.
Right now I am listening to Stockholm Syndrome and it sounds like
WHOA! I LIKE THIS PART A LOT!
Oh, I love the piano part!
fine, you don't ever have to acknowledge me again. *Blows kiss*
This song Knights of Cydonia sounds like Heart's Barracuda. This is pretty cool!
Anon, what's wrong?
Who needs to wash their box? O_o
That's not good.
Hey everyone! Again!
Anonymous - huh?
BC - is she not settling?
Kapunua - keep listening, you shall soon be in our clutches.
Knights of Cydonia is killer on GH3 Expert.
Hiya BC!
BC, you are cruel. Why did you take her in the first place?
GS, not really. Not to mention the fact that no one in my house likes cats and no one has time to care for her, so my brother may give her to a coworker. The owner basically just dropped her in our lap without really asking if we wanted to keep her. Totally unexpected.
Anon, what are you talking about?
Right, I shall have to head off.
Have fun this evening.
Good night All.
Good night Mayo.
Thanks to the early anons for the Muse conversation.
TTFN
Bye GS! ♥
BC do you live with just your brother, or do you both live with parents? What jobs do you and your brother have?
Goodnight gs, sweet dreams. Well anon, I have a big family so I live with brothers and sisters, but I don't feel comfortable when people ask personal questions. I don't talk miuch about my family or friends here. Sorry.
Common Ground
by Rhythm Corps
Can we meet on common ground
Are our views so far apart
That there's no room to be found
Can we speak without a sound
Of a world gone quite insane
Can we start settling down
I'll not play the scene
Where the threats start flying
You'll not have to scream
Cause we're not that stupid
Can we meet on common ground
Can we meet on common ground
Are your walls all brick and stone
And far from tumbling down
Can we seat ourselves around
A table for awhile and talk
Like friends we have found
Well, all that's plain to see
While the brats start blighing
You'll not have to dream
Of a peaceful oneday
Can we meet on common ground
Tell me, tell me, tell me
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Can we meet on common ground
Are our views so far apart
That there's no room to be found
Can we speak without a sound
Of a world gone quite insane
Can we start settling down, yeah
I'll not play the scene
Where the threats start flying
You'll not have to scream
Cause we're not that stupid
Whoa, can we meet on common ground
Can we meet on common ground
Can we meet on common ground
Tell me, can we meet on common ground
I'd dance to that!
Anon, she lives with her parents and has no job.
What do you do for a living BC? And what's your hobby?
Anon if there is message behind the lyrics, then I am willing to try. Hello other anons. Where is everyone?
I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake
La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)
See I'm a young soul in this very strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout what is true and fake
But why all this hate? try to communicate
Finding trust and love is not always easy to make
La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)
This is a happy end
Cause you don't understand
Everything you have done
Why's everything so wrong
This is a happy end
Come and give me your hand
I'll take you far away
I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake
New soul... (la, la, la, la,...)
In this very strange world...
Every possible mistake
Possible mistake
Every possible mistake
Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes...
Party? Yes? No?
Hello?
Blogger is eating a bouquet of dicks tonight. It will not allow me to post a link. >_<
Actually other anon, I have only one parent and had a couple of jobs before and looking. Don't act like you personally know me because you don't. You know nothing. But I don't have to answer to you. At least the other anon is not being an ass like you.
Anon 8:09
I'm actually trying to go back to school to finish. I may move out and start in may. I wanted to finish a degree in criminal justics, but this time I'm gonna study music,
As for hobbies, I like to read, write, play the guitar, travel, going to the movies, bookstore etc. I also like going to the city and visit the museums.
A bouquet of dicks? Niiiiiiiiice one Jules!
TBS rocks my solly socks!
Just sayin....
Maybe if I sign in? This is really pissing me off!
Oh, ALOHA Princess and Silly Solly!
Hello anon 8:11 how are you? Hi Smokie *waves* I think the party starts in a couple of hours.
I mean criminal justice, not justics.
FIMBLE STAR!
This is your song!
When you wrote that post a few nights ago about the rose and how you felt like it, I thought of this song. It’s called Ka Loke which is Hawaiian for “The Rose.” It compares the girl in the song to a rose. Here are the lyrics and translation.
The singing style takes a while to get used to, perhaps. But it is a very highly prized talent to have in Hawaiian music, the ability to quickly back and forth from normal singing voice to soaring falsetto. The falsetto voice is hugely adored in Hawaiian music, in both men and women. (Male singers often hold friendly contests about who can go the highest and hold it for the longest.)
The band is The Makaha Sons. They are my favorite band as well as my very good friends. It was the guitarist (and bass singer) Mahina who taught me what Hawaiian I know. :)
(Cool fact: In almos every Hawaiian song or poem, the last stanza with the lines “ha’ina ia mai ka puana,” and then repeats the theme of the song. “Ha’ina ia mai ka puana” means, “tell the story” or “tell the refrain again.” In Hawaiian poetry it is considered ill luck to not close out the mele (the song) and bring it full circle. In fact the omen is so bad that if you write a mele about someone and do not close it out, it is often believed that the subject of the mele will die. Neat, huh?)
I hope you like it, Fim! ^_____^
Hi sd10 *waves*
and her maggots
I might be sleeping before the party gets kicked off....motherfucker that sucks for me!
GOing to gobble that root, Solly? ;D
You know it, babe!*

The dude should be sent straight to H E double hockey sticks for butchering up some Freddie Mercury.
How DARE HE?
I take it for sleeping pills because I can't take regular ones. It tastes soooo horrible, and it makes you sleep for 2 hours, then you wake up sooo sick so it forces you to sleep off the sickness. Euughghghhghg.

Hey Anima!
I miss you my lovely shameinme. Take care love. Sorry for the double post.
Hey dudes.
How's it hangin'?
Just wanna say that seeing a conversion to the absolutely-undeniably-amazing side known as Muse is full of win. They've been on constant rotation today, and my brain has managed to successfully explode in awesomeness.
Hi Anima!
Yeah, it was really sad. We had a baby penguin last year too, around this time, by the same parents. That one died too. Their bones never form. This pair of penguins should just stop trying to mate, it's too sad.
Arghhhhhhhhh, not Total Eclipse of the Heart.
For fucks sake!
this irish trick can sing
hello everybody, hope you all had a nice day.
thank you jules for the song. it was beautiful, yes i did close my eyes and i pictured sitting on a beach watching the sea.

No, Anon. If anything the chill from my cold, cold heart would have been good for him.
Kapunua, I'm so sorry. Penguins are so adorable.
Fim, I'm so glad you liked it! And I'm glad it made you think of the white sandy beach in Hawai'i. ^____^ Are you going to bed?
Hey Mustard! I missed you today while I was working sooooo hard. ^_~

hey anima, hey bc! :D
elena, i actually do have it done! *gasp!*
i'm going to try to get it posted over at the ecto blog...i hope i have enough time!
Hey Anima
So where is Amy???
AMY AMY AMY (screaming very loudly)
Aside from having grown up around certain types of music, what do you think draws some people to a certain sound, type or genre of music, and turns other people away from it? What is the appeal of different types of sounds to different people? Not necessarily the lyrics, but the actual sounds?
Why do some people love harsh, minor keys, and some people like sweeter sounds?
What draws people to speed metal? Country music? Classical music?
And more interestingly, why are some chords inherently sad sounding? What is it about human nature that defines a certain few chords as mournful?
*passes dip and chips around*
Hi elena. Ha ha fimmy, you sound more excited about saturday than I do! Ha. I'm pretty excited, and come that day, I'll be here, don't you worry :)
Good God, TODD!
You wanna make me think?
Is there cheese dip?!
L and J
I am particularly interested in the last question, and I have absolutely no way of answering it.
TJ I'm so excited to see what you've written.
Oh holy crap our neighbors are outside screaming at each other. God these people need to be on Jerry Springer. Wow, it's a good fight tonight.
yes OP, it's right here!!!
i am glad you are looking forward to it bc. it should be a nice day. we all deserve that. unfortunatly some people never get it.
hello nimalina, how are you?
Well, pass it on Magic Pie!
How are you guys tonight?
Party time?
L. and J.
Todd, honestly everything I love about music is about a place and time for me. It depends. And I think that is what draws certain people to a certain sound. Environment and exposure is critical; but from a lyrically/musically point of view, it's all about a time.
I do not think I even came close to answering your question. ^_^
hello, its nice to see you here ops.
Hello, Fim. Thanks, it's nice to be back!
L. and J.
I hear that Anima, and I'm like that, too. But certain songs grab me by the throat the way some others never do. And I have yet to figure out why.
I've often wondered why Country music makes me feel ill, yet screamy punk makes me feel giddy with joy. Most people where I'm from are just the opposite.
^Same here.
Hey Punks
Cheese dip for sure. How about I fire up the grill?
And my grammar was so 'effed up in that comment. Fuck.
hi, todd, i don't think i've ever had the chance to talk with you before. :)
there's actually a book that attempts to answer those questions about music -- it's called something like "this is your brain on music" (although that might be the wrong title...)
it's completely fascinating -- written by a musician who became a scientist.
Hello, Elena, TJ, Loli, BC, Mustard, Smoke, SDock, Kapunua, Anima, Todd, anyone else.
L. and J.
Yeah, I like all kinds but not all the time. If that makes sense.
I like rap, hip-hop, country, blues, metal, punk, rock, even teensy bit of classical. STFU, Solly.
It's hard to even begin to understand why.
WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's PARTY time!!!!
Welcome home J and L and all those returning to the castle tonight!!!!
*blows party horn*
*shakes noise maker, and a few other things*
Hi everybody! Let's get this party started!!!!
TODD:
There is no way in hell I can answer your question.
My view is this:
Music is all about preference, obviously. Some like to listen to classical. Some don't. Some love country music. Some like rap. Some hate rock, but they love metal.
And more interestingly, why are some chords inherently sad sounding? What is it about human nature that defines a certain few chords as mournful?
I'm not sure how correct I would be in my hypothesis, but I'd venture to guess that it's how the frequency of the sound waves interact with one another, how the different tones clash together.
I like the counterpoint in music. Like...Listening to a fugue, and then listening to say...uhrm...Dragonforce as an example. I like intricate things like operas, and baroque era music, then things like Rasputina and the Andrews Sisters. But then again, I've been studying music my whole life, and the little details mean EVERYTHING to me. Someone with a mellowed out lifestyle might like mellow music. Some angry people like angry music. I think it's got a lot to do with the way you relate to it. Someone who's madly in love might listen to Moonlight Sonata and feel their heart soar, and someone who's absolutely blue might just listen to it and feel an immense sorrow. I think it's all a matter of relation.
Sounds good, Elena. What are you grilling?
L. and J.
Hello J & L.
Country sometimes makes me want to kick somebody. Other times, it's just right. Especially Mr. Cash. ^_^
*wipes confetti from eyes*
Is that Loli and TJ I see?
HI girls!!!
Oh the neighbors are really going at it. Now we sit and wait for the police to arrive.
TJ, that sounds actually pretty neat. Might have to look into that.
Hi girls (and guys)!!
Magic Pie, Shame In Me and Toujours!!!You're all here at the same time =)
*hugs*
Did PH leave?
>_>
<_<
*passes over a bowl of S&V crisps to go with MP's dip*
Fingers out girls!
*slides coffee over to TJ*
*sneaks in some whisky*
*waits to see if she notices*
hello TJ, is your pooter fixed?
I love when something hits me that hard. 0_0 I mean music, you sickos.
Wendy! How ya doing? Elena's grilling something, and we have brought Sparkle Sheep.

Its great to see you here :)
Thanks fimmy. All I want is a cake and some party favors, and that's about it :)
Grilling steaks of course.
Wendy I see what you're shaking!!
O_O
I must have been on socky's rollercoaster too long.
Is it really the PUNKS!!!
*hugs both to the ground*
Todd,
You've posed some interesting questions that I'm not sure I can answer. I can't even tell you why I like all the music that I life. I just know that it has to stir something from within. It has to make me feel. I love all types of music from classical to blue grass, metal to johnny cash, southern gospel to thrash. I can't define what it is that makes me drawn to it...it just does and it's immediate for me. And once I hear it, I never forget it. It stays with me, deep within my heart, my mind forever. And it will be there when I need it....something shitty will happen and I will pull out that song.
As far as chords or instruments being sad sounding.....I love it when you can hear the guitar sound like it's crying.
TODD, you are deep fella!
Hi Everyone!
I love when something hits me that hard. 0_0 I mean music, you sickos.
Teehee! Yeah.
Ennio Morricone, Henry Purcell and Joy Division hit me reeeallly hard.
Smoke, I love old country, especially Johnny Cash.
BC! We missed you too! We are doing good. Ready to party and see just how high the cleaning bill can get by the time we all are through!
TJ, did you bring the pillows?
We got the buns!
L. and J.
hey wendy and pickled possom and o.p's and wow! coffe fimble star, thanks!
*ssssip*
O_O
woo! that's some good coffee there!
kapunua, let me see if i can confirm that title...
Hot buttery goodness is here for the party.
Okay I'll throw on some veggie burgers too.
Hey to all you just arrived. Grab a party hat.
"I'm not sure how correct I would be in my hypothesis, but I'd venture to guess that it's how the frequency of the sound waves interact with one another, how the different tones clash together."
I was going to say the same exact thing, only my comment was something like this:
I know there are certain sounds/notes that trigger certain sensations in our bodies.
Thanks Mustard, for actually explaining it.

It IS so great to have you two ladies back!!!! I've missed you both so much (and Sparkle too)
Don't worry, Sparkle is safe. I shall "protoct" my favorite little yellow lamb with my life!
I just want to thank you both so much for adding Brian's name to your profile. It means more than a few mere words could convey.....
The two of you have such kind and beautiful hearts.
THANK YOU so much!!!
*pounce tackle hugs and smooches for all*
And it's hard to beat ol'Bocephus every now and then.
Yep, PP! It really is. Fuck, we missed you guys!

I'm not sure how correct I would be in my hypothesis, but I'd venture to guess that it's how the frequency of the sound waves interact with one another, how the different tones clash together.
I wonder if there is anything in human nature, or rather specifically in instinct, that tells us “this frequency should make you feel mournful” or “this frequency resonates to make you feel joy.” “This one sounds like spring” and “this one sounds like winter.” Very strange.
Someone with a mellowed out lifestyle might like mellow music. Some angry people like angry music. I think it's got a lot to do with the way you relate to it. But nt necessarily, because I love angry music, I love mellow music, I love classical music. I love Leathermouth and I love Makaha Sons. I’m not sure that’s because I relate to feeling like that, even at the time I’m listening to it. But something draws me to certain music, and particular songs and I’m not sure why.

As far as chords or instruments being sad sounding.....I love it when you can hear the guitar sound like it's crying.
“Marooned” by Pink Floyd, oh my god.
kapunua that is the title, and here is a review of it.
Hi pickle possom. How are you? Hi Wendy! How are you sugarplum? *runs and smothers with hugs and kisses*
POSSUM!!!!
It's great catching you at this time!
Pssst.....stay away from the grill!
Elena STILL has that cookbook.
;)
Hi TJ! Are you at the library or at home? *is being nosey*
*passes out party hats to those just arriving*
You are welcome, Wendy! We love you too, sweetie!
Ooooo...buttered popcorn! We can get it all over the couch!
*REALLY hoping Ergo still has that credit card...*
L. and J.
Hello popcorn.
Johnny Cash will always have a special place in my heart.
I wonder if there is anything in human nature, or rather specifically in instinct, that tells us “this frequency should make you feel mournful” or “this frequency resonates to make you feel joy.” “This one sounds like spring” and “this one sounds like winter.” Very strange.
No, I don't think so. I mean, a frequency is what it is. Just movement through space. It's what we associate that particular frequency with that gives it its meaning.
I think we're conditioned, I guess is the best word to use, to feel or see a particular image or thought because of how it sounds.
Does that come close to making sense?
All this talk of food is making me hungry. I'm gonna go fix that issue and I'll be right back.
♥ you guys.
lattes for all!
Yep, like I said. It's all in the way you're relating to it. If you really think about it, you will be taken aback by something that really speaks to you. Some things touch you deeply 'just because'. But more than likely, even if you don't think it's there, there is something that's speaking to you, and that's why you go back to it.
*smothers BC with sloppy kisses and hugs back*
How are you, sweetcheeks? Ready to P-A-R-T-Y ???
i love cotton candy at parties or fairs.
who wants some cotten candy?
Possum, Elena has a NEW book too, about tying knots. She seems to be getting really good at it...

Possum don't worry I never grill possum...
everyone knows it's much better fried.
I like when Johnny Cash did murder ballads. Nick Cave did 'em too. I love Nick Cave.
I know there are certain sounds/notes that trigger certain sensations in our bodies.
Right. It's all brain related, at least I think so. Certain sounds (frequencies) trigger thoughts, memories even, that make us feel something.
Magic, may I have a Grande Soy Latte? Please? Pretty Please?
L.
Don't take too long Anima!
Bring some buns when you come back
;)
Hello popcorn *steals a few pieces of popcorn* *glomp*
J and L, I'm sure the cleaning bill will be high^___^
Johnny Cash was the real motherfucking deal!
...just sayin
*wonders if Mayo ever picked his fave Johnny Cash song*
*picks up OP's off the ground*

It does make sense, but it had to start somewhere though, do you think? We’re conditioned (and lately through Hollywood,) but where does the idea come from to begin with?

I like when Johnny Cash did murder ballads. Nick Cave did 'em too. I love Nick Cave.
I can’t even begin to think of Johnny Cash doing Murder Ballads! That’s one of my favorite albums ever. I love Nick Cave really hard.
TJ, that book sounds too awesome. Thanks for the link.
I think we're conditioned, I guess is the best word to use, to feel or see a particular image or thought because of how it sounds.
Does that come close to making sense?

No, I don't think so. I mean, a frequency is what it is. Just movement through space. It's what we associate that particular frequency with that gives it its meaning.
Actually, studies on frequency have shown that some lower frequencies (too low to be "heard" by the human ear) do have a negative affect on mood/state of mind.
It's been suggested that some feelings attributed to being in a haunted room (ie. a wariness, the awareness of an unseen presence) are likely to be, in at least some cases, the result of subjection to this frequency.
