Gotta weigh in on the Fanfic. Yeah there is some of it that is pure trash. However some of it is quite good. I'm not ashamed to say I know my way around fanfic’s quite well. Here is my take on it. About 90% of what I've read is just young kids being creative. They write stores using people they like and admire as characters. Is this a bad thing? I don't think so. They are using their minds to do something creative. They are learning to express their feeling with words. Yeah some of it is bad but then let's face it some of the books out there that get published suck. There is good and bad. As Ray said once that he thought it was good the kids are being creative he just doesn't like it when they make the band members have sex with each other. LOL
Perhaps some of the young kids writing these will someday become known writers. I get so tired of the negative stereotyping that gets associated with fanfics. In many ways it is a true form of flattery.

Me, I've got to try to get out to the store (this "ice storm") is really a rain storm,) and get on doing these damn Xmas cards, damnit.
I was supposed to see Pretty today, but you know what? He never wrote back. In fact, pattern: I'm always the one making suggestions and trying to follow up. If I don't get on AIM to talk to him, he won't answer my emails and we end up not getting together. Well I mean, if I'm not really willing to make an effort and he's not willing to make an effort, where does that go?
That's a rhetorical question. ^_^
Gosh, this house is a mess! Well not really, it's actually pretty clean.

good morning, mayo.
like elena, i didn't say my usual good night to you last night. it wasn't a very friendly crowd in here last night, so i just went on to bed.
i was feeling kind of restless last night anyway. i couldn't settle down, and lurked around the blogosphere, and took a bit of a walkabout through the internet. part of that probably came from the fact that today i get to do something brand new, which always leaves me dangling somewhere between apprehension and anticipation.
i'm slowly learning how to ignore the apprehension. it's the false alarm in the scheme, and listening to it has kept me tightly bound in the past, tethered in a tiny paddock. i'm learning that if i stick my tongue out at the stupid shrill beast, and walk right past it, it won't follow. that still takes a bit of doing, though. but i'm getting better at it.
what helps is the realization that nothing is ever as bad as you fear it will be. i remember my first ct scan, after my biopsy, taken to determine if i needed to continue with treatment. i could barely drink the contrast my stomach was so roiled with fear, and sitting in the hall outside the technician's room, i could feel myself drawing into a tight ball, shoulders hunched, hands clasped, pulling in around myself protectively. that scan was the end of my world. i couldn't see beyond it.
and it was nothing. it was easy, and i've dozens since then, i barely think about it now. (though i still have difficulty drinking the contrast. that stuff is nasty!) i repeated that process all year -- my first surgery, my first chemo, my first radiation. and they were all nothing. just activities. just a new process to learn.
and it's not that now that i've gone through that, nothing else is difficult in comparison. it's just that i've learned that the new thing, whatever it is, is always the same. it always feels like the end of the world, but it's really just the top of a hill you're approaching. you can't see what's on the other side, but usually it's the same scenery you're looking at now, and sometimes, it's even prettier.
the shrill voice warns you that you're going to fall off the edge, but we know better than that, don't we?
it's almost time for me to take a run at this new hill ahead of me. i hope you're having a very good day, mayo. maybe you've got a hill to tackle in your life, too. if you do, remember to yell "tally-ho!" first. that always helps.

I got my wrists slapped about it though. I donate blood, and I was anaemic last donation time and I couldn't donate. Apparently tea acts as a blocker and disrupts the formation or flow of the blood or something and I got a polite telling off!!!!
